What they care about

I am Hannie Ricardo, a musician, historian and educator. On October 7, I lost my daughter to humans with no humanity. I chose to do good as an answer.

In February 2024, I began the journey of creating Kaddish for Oriya, my monumental musical work in memory of my beloved daughter, Oriya, who was murdered in the October 7 massacre. Along the way, everything was documented: my life, my grief, my agony, and the impossible journey toward bringing this work to the stage of the Israeli Opera House in Tel Aviv. This footage is not a film. It is life as it unfolded. Now comes the next step. My goal is to transform these hundreds of hours of raw footage into a full-length documentary. A film about love, unimaginable loss, music, resilience, and the choice to keep living. A film that carries Oriya's light forward. For me, it has always been about doing the impossible. Or, as Man of La Mancha put it, "To dream the impossible dream." Dreams matter. They always have. Sometimes they become reality. Sometimes they simply give us the strength to keep going. If you believe this story deserves to be told, I would be deeply grateful for your support. Every contribution, every share, and every voice helping spread this project brings the documentary one step closer to becoming a reality.

Rising with music, the cure for the suffering soul. I could stay my whole life hating; I could give in to frustration. I chose to rise and answer evil with loving sounds. Help carry that loving prayer to the world.
