<div>Hey Y'all! My name is Ashley and I am attempting to raise funds for a dear friend and coworker, Rebecca Balderas. Most of ya'll probably know Becky from Dripping Springs Pharmacy as she has worked there for 22 years! She works full time, saves where she can, and always goes above and beyond to help others. Now Becky needs to get back on her feet.. literally! She recently fractured 3 parts of her foot and has to have surgery to put in a plate and pins to fix her up where she can be mobile again. Becky has insurance, but it does have a large deductible, and she has come up short on funds for this expensive surgery. Following surgery, she will require rest and some rehabilitation to heal. The $5000 we hope to raise will go towards anesthesia, surgery, copays, durable medical equipment such as a knee scooter and a shower chair, and help with living expenses while being off work during this time.

<div>Sloane made her big debut into the world, at 39 weeks, on June 24 2010. Despite having what I thought was a relatively “normal pregnancy,” Sloane was born with a severe lack of oxygen from being both severely choked by her umbilical cord twice around her neck as well as (learning when she was 8 months old) that she suffered an in utero stroke that severely damaged the parietal and temporal lobes of her brain. Due to this, Sloane was diagnosed early on, as having Spastic Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy. Fortunately enough, we have been able to get her all of her necessary therapies such as Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapies, as well as her seeing many regular specialists along the way. Sloane is now 11, in 6th grade General Education classes, including AP English Language Arts and Choir as an extra curricular in school. She is doing well in school, in the books. However, she isn’t able to do the things her friends do. She “can’t” skip, hop, jog, jump rope or even walk for more than a couple of minutes without exhausting and needing a break or shutting down. She wants so much and as parents, we want so badly to just be able to make it possible.

<div>Sloane began getting medical BOTOX and serial casting for her spasticity every 4-6 months in July 2011, at a young age of 14 months. Unfortunately , these injections are no longer helping in the relief of her muscle spasticity and her pain has increased, causing sleepless nights and more frequent fatigue. She takes muscle relaxers twice a day in hopes of taking the edge off of the pain and muscle cramps that the spasticity causes.

<div>Over President’s Day weekend, Sloane and I took a road trip to St. Louis Children’s Hospital where we met with the wonderful Dr. T. S. Park, Neurosurgeon on February 21, 2022. He reviewed her MRI, hip and back X-rays, her physical therapy report, as well as did his own assessment and determined she is a perfect candidate for his Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy spinal operation that will undoubtedly and dramatically improve her quality of life.<br /><br />
</div>

<div>While we know there is no cure for Cerebral Palsy, there are treatments that can improve Sloane’s quality of life. We have researched (SDR) Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy for over two years and finally got the call that, not only is she a great candidate for the surgery at the St. Louis Children's Hospital in St. Louis, but she is able to have the procedure as soon as May 27, 2022! SDR is performed by Dr. Park who has done over 4,000 SDR surgeries to date. The surgery corrects muscle spasticity by cutting the nerve rootlets in the spinal cord that are sending abnormal signals to the muscles. Dr. Park believes that with the SDR, Tendon Lengthening and intensive therapies, her future will be dramatically improved beyond what we could have ever foreseen.

<div>This is a huge commitment for our whole family, but one we are absolutely ready and excited to do. Sloane will be admitted for surgery and on bed rest for 3-5 days. She will then receive intense, inpatient therapies for, again, approximately 4-5 days. At that time, we will come back home to Texas where she will undergo intense Physical Therapy 4-5 days a week for 6 months, 3-4 days a week for 12 months, then continue PT 2-3 times a week for up to 3 years. We will have to go back to St. Louis for a surgery follow up at the 4 month mark as well as 12 months.

<div>Additionally, Sloane will have a Heel Cord Lengthening procedure with the Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon that works with Dr. Park in St. Louis between 4-6 months after her SDR Procedure. Due to Sloane’s Cerebral Palsy and lifelong spasticity, her muscles and body have grown differently. In conjunction with SDR, this procedure will increase her range of motion ever more, allowing her to put her heel to the floor when walking or even standing, which is something she has yet to ever do without, grimacing or intensifying pain.

<div>At this time we have the opportunity to have the surgery done this year… but with the cost of the two surgeries and the intensive therapies, as well as flights and hotels, we are asking for all the help we can get. <div>I always knew Melissa would be a great mother by the way she warms up to children. The way she holds my babies and gives them endless loves means the world. I continue to pray to God to bless them with a child of their own. Unfortunately, her journey has not been as easy as others. Many of you have heard their fertility struggle for the past 7 years and the medical procedures in the last 4 years. It has been an emotional roller coast for the both of them. About 3 years ago, Melissa had surprised Benny with a positive test result. To them it was like winning the lottery. They were both crying with joy, feeling blessed, and eager to start a new journey. All of that excitement quickly vanished when they took an actual test at the doctor's office when they were told it was a false positive. This was truly a though period in their lives. Nothing was working and they felt helpless. Together they overcame this and picked up where they left. They will not give up just yet and that's why they are taking a chance at IVF.

<div>IVF is a complex series of procedures used to help with fertility and assist with the conception of a child. Melissa and Benny would have a 50% chance of conceiving a child. Along with the complex procedure comes the hefty medical expense they would both have to pay up front. If I had the funds readily available I would give it to them no questions asked. I know they would love their child to the moon and back. They will protect that child and give him/her the best life. I am asking for everyone to support Melissa and Benny in this new journey. Together we can help them take care of this as they helped all of us at one point in our lives.

A journey to parent hood!

Travis was riding his motorcycle home on September 11, 2021 and had a serious accident while swerving to miss a deer. He is stable in the hospital, but has a broken pelvis and is going into extensive surgery on September 13th. He will have a long recovery and rehabilitation,  but is expected to pull through. He is also currently on a ventilator. There is no visitation allowed at this time, but I will provide updates as I receive them. Bills are piling up and any help would be greatly appreciated. <p>Trying to help a family member. Wanda Barnhart Martin is in need of a vehicle hers broke down with major engine problems. This was an unexpected event and she and her kids need our help getting another vehicle. She has lived in Wimberley for over 40 years and she’s helped a lot of people in  Wimberley donating clothes to them getting people in need get clothes and other household items.  She takes fresh vegetables from their garden to people who want/need it etc.Wanda spends a great many hours volunteering around Wimberley also. She cannot work a full-time job she is a caregiver 24 seven to her son that is severely autistic and disabled.. Those of you who know Wanda know her son chance also￼￼￼. She is in a very big need. My family and I are still trying to process the tragic loss of my brother Wade. Wade was a disabled veteran after serving with the United States Marine Corp  and the Army. He has a beautiful family he left behind. Wade and his wife Wendy had 7 children, three of whom are still young and live at home. His wife Wendy, Anabela(10), William(8) and Ava(5) are our main concern right now. Wendy is a homemaker and Wade was in charge of providing financially and he didn't have any life insurance. As a family we want to do everything we can to help Wendy and the kids financially for as long as we can.<br /><br />If you are willing to donate, we would very much appreciate it. It was a punch in the gut to hear this news. He will be starting on a feeding tube to build his strength and then the chemo begins. It is not going to be easy for him for sure. But, he is a strong fella. He is also as good a dude as there is on this planet. All of us that call him friend or have been blessed to cross his path in life, are better for knowing him.  After discussions with some mutual friends. Friends and Family,<br /><br />If you haven't heard, Brandon was in an accident Wednesday evening. We are asking for your prayers for Brandon's recovery at this time. The love that has been shown the last couple of days to Brandon, me and our boys has been a testament to the kind of man my husband is. He has positively affected so many peoples lives. And he still has work to do. To know him is to truly know love and happiness. I've known he was special since I was 12 years old. Brandon is a fighter (he thinks he is Bruce Lee) and I know that he is fighting to be reunited with his family again. One thing that I can positively say about my husband is that he loves his boys. He has spent every minute he can with them teaching them about life and giving them all of the knowledge he has. I know that he is going to make it through this because he still has much more knowledge to share with them. We don't care about what the doctors are saying. They don't know Brandon and they obviously don't understand the healing powers of God. I don't know what the next few days, weeks, months are going to look like, but I need everyone to visualize Brandon talking, walking, and smiling again. Let's put it out there and speak it into existence. Thank you to everyone that has contacted me and offered your support and prayers. Hello, I am Benny Arevalo husband to Melissa Arevalo Ellensohn, who's loving parents are Bruce and Anita Ellensohn. As some of you may know Anita was diagnosed with lung cancer a year and half ago. Her family and friends were by her side to help her fight the battle. This caused for aggressive chemo and radiation treatments which continued for an extended period of time.
