Jason Hu

Hello, my name is Jason Hu and I'm raising funds for my father's funeral. Sam Shien-Shun Hu's passing came as a surprise to many, but he was also dealing with multiple chronic issues that caused a delicate balance in how we approached managing symptoms. Towards the end of my father's life, I began taking a more active caregiving role to ensure that my father was meeting his doctor's appointments on time, consulting about medication, navigating through specialist referrals, interpreting between Chinese and English, applying for government aid programs, calling insurance companies, and picking up refills. When I thought I finally caught a break, I had to learn about a chronic progressive disease that was causing my mother to slowly lose the ability to walk. This has been one of the most difficult things I have ever done. Yet, filial piety is something I have always held in high regard. It's something I had been preparing myself for mentally since I was little. I wasn't prepared to handle the expenses that quickly piled up when Sam's health deteriorated and I was left selecting a mortuary service. I want to be able to give my dad, Sam, a fond farewell that bridges the connections of the many lives he touched during his life. The proceeds of this fundraiser will go towards the costs to cover the funeral, cremation, burial, ash plot, and epitaph. My plan moving forward is to focus on getting my mother the help, support, and motivation through this difficult time together. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
