Help Us Keep Our Home While We Get Back on Our Feet Hi, my name is Rachel, and honestly, writing this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I’ve always tried to handle things myself. Asking strangers for help isn’t something I ever imagined I’d do. But right now, my husband Mark and I are facing a financial situation that has become more than we can manage on our own. We bought our little mobile home about a year and a half ago using money from a workers’ compensation settlement after Mark suffered a serious injury at work. His leg was badly broken and required rods, pins and screws, and he continues to live with CRPS and significant back problems. Despite his own pain, Mark has always taken care of me. I have my own serious health problems and have been unable to work. I’ve been fighting for disability and am now waiting for my case to be decided by a judge. I desperately hope this will finally give us some stability, but until that happens, we’re struggling to make ends meet. Mark recently started working nights. He wanted to help keep us afloat. But the physical demands of the job have caused his back and injured leg to become extremely painful, and we are afraid his body simply cannot handle the work. Our savings are now almost gone. We are doing everything we can to get through this. We receive food assistance, which has been a blessing, but we still have our home, utilities, transportation, and everyday necessities to worry about. So, with a very humble heart, we’re asking for help. Our goal is $2,500. We’re hoping this can give us a little breathing room while I continue fighting for disability and while Mark figures out what kind of work he can realistically do without making his injuries worse. If you are able to contribute, even $5 or $10 would mean something to us. If you can’t donate, simply saying a prayer for us would mean more than you know. We aren’t looking for a handout or a way to avoid responsibility. We’re just two people who have hit a very difficult stretch and are trying desperately to hold onto the little home we’ve worked so hard to keep. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
