<div>We are Dot and Jeff.  We are sharing our story and asking for your help to get us back on our feet. We lost home and our livelihood in the Eaton Wildfire that started January 7th 2025 in Altadena.

<div>Our lives halted when the Eaton wildfire erupted destroying over 6,000 homes in our community including our home and everything in it. We are one of many who lost so much.

<div>It breaks our hearts and we feel the pain of our community's loss especially those whose lives were lost in this disaster. This has become overwhelming for so many including us.

<div>We lived in a beautiful, yet modest home in Altadena, CA for the past 23 years, where we first met mountain biking and have been building our lives together there ever since. It was our rock and rolled with us every step of the way..

<div>Over the years we followed our passions to develop our livelihood, Jeff in his skills of creation art and engineering in his family made him a skilled handyman in our community and beyond as well the best technical director building cyclocross (bicycle race) courses across the USA. He is the organizer of our household and cares for our furry children=2 cats and 2 dogs.

<div>Just a few weeks ago in December, hosted hundreds of youth bike safety skills park at Loma Alta Park in Altadena at Snow Day Winter Wonderland in December. It was so inspiring to see so many happy families coming together in our town.

Felecia Lenee Williams, affectionately known as Fe Love was not only an artist and activist for human rights, she was a natural born leader who never met a stranger. She was pure light with the most unforgettable smile and laugh. She brought people together from all backgrounds and nationalities. <br /> <br />However, Felecia’s life savings were exhausted over the past few years to due to a rare autoimmune deficiency, transverse myelitis that left her paralyzed twice. This horrible disease causes lesions to form along the spinal cord, impacting the spinal cord nerves and keeping them from sending the necessary messages to your brain in order for your body to operate correctly.  Each time Felecia had to learn to walk again and build up her physical strength to be able to function daily. Time to time her antibodies would flare up and attack causing her to be immobile. This time as she was receiving treatment, her heart stopped. <br /> <br />Through it all Felecia, continued to roll her sleeves up and fight for herself and her and bring awareness to issues in her community and across the globe.  She marched in the streets for the equality and justice. She was co - founder of Compassionate Arts California. She was an advocate for youth and helping them to overcome depression in loneliness. She was a mentor for the Wiley Center for Art and Speech Therapy where she performed at the White House for the Miracle Project, youth coordinator for the Pico Youth &amp; Family Center in Santa Monica. Felecia was also an advocate and lead artist for the Posts for Peace initiative and heavily involved with the When Black and Brown Go Green. She was constantly creating and collaborating on ways to make the world a better place. She spread light wherever she went. <br /> <br />This is has been the most difficult thing to understand and wrap our minds around. We know now that Felecia has transitioned into her new body.  She has a brand new walk and she is no longer in pain. Yes, we rejoice in that because no one wants to see there loved ones in pain or suffering. <br /> <br />Reality is that we must start making arrangements to have her body shipped home from Los Angeles to the South. With no way to prepare for Felecia’s sudden passing, we are asking for help from you and the communities that she has served to find it in your hearts to make a donation towards funeral costs and other expenses.  No donation is too big or too small. Felecia lost her mother and brother with in the past few years. Any financial relief we can give this family would be greatly appreciated. <br /><br />Thank you so much for your love, prayers, and support during the most difficult time. We appreciate every bit of it. Be sure to tell the people in your lives, you love them.  Don't sit on that dream that you have. Just do it. <p>Hello Altadena neighbors and friends further away.  My name is Elisha Wright and I am reaching out on behalf of my family in this great time of need.  First of all the Wright family has deep set roots here in Altadena, that's why I felt it necessary to reach those near.  My uncles and aunts, now my kids, all went here locally to John Muir High ( I think only one of the Wright brothers went to PHS for a year or so)  My uncle, (Rest his soul) Victor Wright was even indicted to the honorable John Muir High Hall of Fame.  <br /><br />Moreover, we're in a crisis mode here now during the holiday season unfortunately.  The family home at 3379 N. Glenrose has suffered from a five alarm fire incident on Christmas eve.  It was an accidental electrical fire.  Everyone in the home was able to get out safely, we did lose our furbaby Hunter though.  This unfortunate event has left 6 family members homeless and every single item inside was a 100% loss.  Things that weren't damaged by the fire were damaged by the immense amount of smoke.  <br /><br />We are reaching out on this platform to raise much needed funds for rebuilding and staying in the family home we've had here in Beautiful Altadena for over 40 years.  Your donations will help with the clean up; renting bins, a cleaning crew.  As well as temporary housing, clothing, and food for my family members who lost everything in the fire.  Thanks again to the many neighbors who stopped by to help and ask us how we are, or if there was any unmet needs.  We really appreciate you.<br /><br />Ready to rebuild, The Wright family

Altadena Home Fire

Two Dragons Martial Arts is a small, Black woman owned business. Owner, Shelene Hearring has over 40 years of training and has attained the level of "Master" in the art of Chaun Shu, a form of Chinese martial arts. While she originally began for self-defense and fitness, it ultimately became her life service. Two Dragons offers complete martial arts and fitness programs for students from age 3 to adults &amp; seniors, including a complete Black Belt program; After School Leadership Academy; Women's Self-Defense; Yoga Stretch and Wellness classes. The majority of the programs are youth oriented with specific goals of leadership &amp; character building. This business is essential to the community in that it partners with parents &amp; schools in contributing to the development of the "future leaders of tomorrow". In business for the past 10 years in Altadena and the prior 18 years in Pasadena.<br /><br />Due to Covid-19, the studio has been closed since mid March and will remain closed through June. On-line classes via Zoom are being offered; however, only roughly 25% of the students have signed up for them. Re-opening the studio will be a slow process as class sizes will be limited. We anticipate it will take many months to get back to the previous full level of student enrollment. Shelene has relentlessly attempted to apply for government grants/loans for the past three months without success. We are now looking for other ways to cover past due studio rent and expenses and humbly ask for your help so the business can survive.<br /><br />All donations will be received with deep gratitude, thank you!

Help Save Two Dragons Martial Arts

On the afternoon of January 29th, Blue The Dog was hit by a car and rushed to the closest vet.  The vet quickly assessed Blue and advised he be taken to the emergency animal hospital.  He is now at the emergency hospital fighting for his life.<br /><br />Blue remains in critical condition and the doctors are doing everything they can to keep him stable.  He’s heavily sedated so he can’t feel any pain, but continues to perk up anytime Richard or his foster Mom, Geri come into the room for a visit.  His tail wag and smile give us hope! <br /><br />Blue has internal bleeding, most likely from the liver.  His lungs are damaged and severely bruised.  His right hind leg has multiple fractures including significant joint damage.  It is still unclear if the doctors will be able to save his leg.   The top priority is to get Blue stable and from there, the doctors will advise on a course of action.<br /><br />As you can imagine, Richard is absolutely devastated.  If you know Richard, you’ve either met or heard of Blue The Dog.  To say that these two have a special bond would be an understatement.  Richard needs all the support and love he can get so he can focus on getting Blue through what is sure to be the biggest battle of his life.  <br /><br />As of Tuesday morning, January 30th, the medical bills for Blue have totalled up to over $7,000  and will continue to grow as Blue continues to fight for his life. <br />***(Update: Blue's medical bills are $11,180 as of Friday, February 2nd)***<br /><br />Richard isn’t one to ask for help, but right now he needs his village to help lift him up.   ANYTHING you can do to support these two would be greatly appreciated.<br /><br />We were able to get the information of the driver who struck Blue and we are in the process of contacting them.  We will post any updates as they become available. <br /><br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/27363662_15173192270_r.jpeg" alt="27363662_15173192270_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />

He was hit from behind while climbing La Tuna Canyon in Sunland, California around 2:15pm by a black SUV.. <p>20 September 2017 Update:<br /><br />I should have known the sticker price was too good to be true.  Now that I am here at the clinic receiving treatment, and they have a better idea of what all is required, the revised estimate has grown dramatically - almost threefold to $15,000.  I'm a tough old bird, and I will kick booty on the pinche lyme disease, but it looks like I need more help than I thought.<br /><br />####

<p>To know me is to understand just how painful it is to reach out for help.  It is more painful by far than seeing one of my four-legged babies sick or injured.  But here goes:  I need help, I cannot do this alone.  <br /><br />In November 2016 I became one of 300,000 Americans diagnosed with Lyme disease.  Lyme disease is a very complicated and controversial diagnosis, the tests are woefully inadequate and the CDC does not approve the most common treatment - long-term antibiotics. Additionally, many insurance companies will not cover treatment, including mine.  My story is all too common amongst Lyme sufferers.  I was sick for nearly four months before I found a doctor who concurred with my diagnosis.  Since then I have been doing everything within my power to heal myself, including mega-doses of antibiotics, handfuls of vitamins and natural supplements, a completely modified diet, even a weekly shot in the behind of vitamin B-Complex.  Still, I have more bad days than good.  I am looking for help to fund a trip to <a href="http://www.lymediseasemexico.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lyme Disease Mexico</a> , a specialty clinic in Puerto Vallarta that offers intense treatment and hope for a cure.  The cost of the clinic, room and board, and transportation will be roughly $7,500.  <br /><br />I hope you will consider joining me in my journey back to health.  What is pocket change to you can change my life.<br /><br />If you would like to learn more about Lyme disease check out <a href="http://www.ilads.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ILADS.org</a> and <a href="https://www.lymedisease.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LymeDisease.org</a> .  <br /><br /> #PincheFingLyme <br /><br />###<br /><br />After twenty years I left my successful but stressful cycling apparel business in the Bay Area and traveled Mexico and Central America in search of a new place to call home.  Last year I found that place, a mango farm in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.  I felt it was time to slow down, dig my hands into the earth, and take the time to connect more fully with the world and people around me. <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23147094_1503512786.8448_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23147094_fb_1503508923.929_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23147094_1503512833.4834_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23147094_fb_1503509985.3057_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />I arrived in September, greeted by the blazing heat of the Baja Summer.  I was determined to transform a derelict mango orchard into a beautiful oasis, replete with gardens full of organic vegetables and glorious flowers.  In early November, the transformation nearly complete, I fell deathly ill with a flu that was like no other.  After a week in bed, my friend dragged me kicking and screaming to the local doctor.  My friend was even more concerned about my welfare.  I was living amongst creepy crawlies of every variety, in a country that was foreign to me, protected by nothing but a flimsy tent and my four faithful hounds.  <br /><br />November 9, 2016 was the day my world fell apart.  My lab results came back positive for a Rickettsial infection, one of the tick the borne diseases.  My doctor diagnosed Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and put me on a ten day course of antibiotics.   I went home and spent hours on the phone with my loved ones, trying to make sense of this.  Next I spent more time on the internet searching for information on tick borne diseases.  Based on my symptoms I was convinced I had Lyme disease.  Finally, I cried myself asleep, hoping I would wake up and put a horrible nightmare behind me.  A few hours later my friend poked his head into my tent and told me there was something I had to see.  The sun was setting and the most glorious double rainbow filled the sky.  It dawned on me that maybe my life had not ended and Lyme disease was just another obstacle I would overcome.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23147094_1503512878.5667_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />Those first few months of being sick were the most horrible.  I was completely exhausted all the time.  I went from toiling alongside my workers in extreme heat for eight hours a day (pulling weeds, picking up rubbish, pruning trees, erecting fences, digging garden beds...) to being unable to drag myself out of bed, all in the span of one week.  The pain in my fingers was unrelenting and spread slowly to other joints in my body.  Most days I felt on the verge of throwing up after every bite I ate.  My blood pressure was so low I would nearly pass out every time I bent over to pull a weed.  I was horribly sensitive to light, sound, and touch - no loud music, hat and sunglasses at all times, and “please don’t touch me, ever!”  My brain went to mush, always an avid reader I couldn't focus on the simplest of airplane books.  A basic hike with my dogs became an epic challenge, I would become winded and light-headed on the most moderate grade.  Probably the worst thing about it was the irritability, depression, and the rage, made worse by the fact that nobody believed I was sick, I didn’t look sick and I did not have a proper diagnosis.  Even I began to doubt if I was truly sick, maybe it was all in my head.<br />The frustrating thing about my Lyme disease was that it comes and goes.  The days I felt good I figured I was well and didn't need further medical care.  The days I felt bad were so bad it was impossible to reach out for help of any kind.  In February I finally found a holistic doctor who believed me when I told her I had Lyme disease.  She prescribed a protocol of mega-doses of four different antibiotics and a slew of natural supplements.  In addition to my new "protocol", I completely changed my diet in the hopes of eradicating the borrelia bacteria.  I gave up wheat and sugar completely, and cut my consumption of dairy, caffeine, fruit, and alcohol to almost zero.  After nearly four months, I was finally on the path to health, even if that path was more like a roller-coaster than beachside stroll.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23147094_1503512919.0314_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />Sadly, it would seem that my pill-popping and sacrifices are not enough.  My bad days still outweigh my good days, and while many of my symptoms are better, others are the same or worse.  <br />While living life in a foreign language and dealing with Lyme disease have taught me a lot about patience, a subject that was never my long suit, I don't have the patience to be sick for another three years or more.  I want to get back to creating my new life, growing a sustainable working farm, writing the books that have been in my head (and on my computer) for a couple years, earning money, riding my bike again, running the long distance trail races that are popping up around the Baja Peninsula, feeling like a normal human being, maybe having the energy to once again help the street dogs of Todos Santos again.  It is time to get myself checked in.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23147094_1503512971.7505_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23147094_1503513345.2477_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />I am fortunate that there is one ILADS-approved, Lyme Literate Doctor in all of Mexico  He is in Puerto Vallarta, a short flight from my home.  Lyme Disease Mexico is a state of the art treatment facility that focuses on treating and, hopefully curing, Lyme disease. I've booked myself for one month of treatment beginning September 18, 2017, six days per week, eight hours per day.  They start your visit with a battery of tests then tailor your treatment to the specifics of your Lyme disease.  Am I scared?  Sure I am.  The treatment includes low-dose chemo, quantum therapy, IV ozone, antibiotics, and hydrosol silver, homotoxicology, photonic light beams, lymphatic drainage, and mega-doses of vitamin C.  Do I want to get well?  I'm prepared to do whatever it takes.<br /><br />The good news, the cost of medical care in Mexico is much more reasonable.  The bad news, it still costs a pretty penny.  One month of treatment in the clinic will run around $6,000.  In addition, room and board will be an additional $1,000.  Transportation will add another $500.  I had set aside money for the clinic, but the cost overruns on my new casita ate up all those savings.  I decided that having four walls and a roof would be critical to my health and well being come hurricane season.  I'm pretty sure my current "house", a tattered tent, would not give me shelter from a storm.<br /><br />Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference.  Five dollars will buy a month of multi-vitamins, ten dollars enough probiotics to keep my gut flora happy.  Twenty-five dollars will pay for my initial battery of tests and thirty-five dollars will pay the initial doctor visit.  Two hundred dollars will pay for one quantum therapy and three hundred dollars will pay for one chemo treatment.  Any money not spent directly on the clinic will go towards ongoing treatment, if necessary, and completing my sweet oasis here in the desert of Baja California Sur.<br /><br />Thank you again for joining me on my journey.  Financial assistance is wonderful, but your support and kind words of encouragement are priceless.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23147094_fb_1503509279.592_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />

Help Sheila Kick Lyme's Booty

<p dir="ltr">On Thursday March 2nd at ~5:15pm Foxy and I were hit head on by a car while hitchhiking from the Sawpit Merchantile, a few miles down valley from Telluride. While I rolled over the hood of the car and somehow, luckily, was not hurt, Foxy got sucked under the vehicle and has severe jaw fractures, a tooth jammed in her nasal passage and bruised lungs from the body trauma. The collision was an accident, sun right in the driver's eyes setting over the mountains, but he still decided to drive off. Horrendous hit and run. After xrays were taken at the Telluride Vet Clinic, I was informed Foxy would need to get to the Emergency Vet Center in Grand Junction ASAP for an overnight oxygen cage to ensure her lungs would heal. Today the Tiara Rado Animal Hospital in Grand Junction was able to detail the extensive jaw surgery that she will need to survive. Tomorrow morning they hope to operate on her. The surgery will take several hours and will cost an estimated $5,000.

<p dir="ltr">Foxy has been my love, fur baby and adventure buddy since 2014 when I rescued her from Mexico and embarked upon a bike tour (Little Red Cycling Fox) from California to Colorado. She has been an absolute inspiration and emotional support animal through countless adventures and chapters in my life. She's an incredible sweetie and deserves to recover from this nightmare. She's only 4 years old. Any help with these unexpected vet bills from an unfathomable hit and run would be exceptionally appreciated.

<br /><br />As most of you know A dog named "Carl" has had a wonderful life and I have been very lucky to have shared it with him.  Yesterday, I found out that he will be facing a risky(he's 8yrs old) but operable surgery for a twisted testicle. All monies raised will be used for this and any leftover funds will be used in "Carl's" name for underprivileged animal care!

On December 30, 2016 Three of our friends were aboard a plane that went down near Ilio point, Moloka'i. Around 7 pm Friday the Cessna 172 dropped off radar in poor weather conditions and limited visibility.  <br />The U.S. Coast guard has done what they can, but have suspended the search for our loved ones: Michael Childers, Whitney Thomas, and John Mizuno. So far, no trace of them or plane wreckage have been found. <br />Those are the facts; the story of how they disappeared. But the truth is, this is about three people who are so loved, they won't be given up on. These are people who don't just light up a room, they illuminate our lives. We  are surviving on unrelenting hope and faith that there will be some sort of wreckage found, leading us to the next step in our search for these three loved ones. <br />We are asking for support to fund search efforts. Many of our friends have already flown to Molokai to search on foot, while more will be joining over the next few days and weeks to come. The people of Moloka'i have been generously giving support, providing homes, food, direction, knowledge, comfort, and most of all, have given the Thomas', Childer's, and Mizuno's an extended family like no other. The love and affection shown and experienced on Moloka'i is a beacon of hope, faith, and strength to us all.   <br />We are hoping to further expand other search options. Boats with sonar is our next big move being made. <br />Funds will be directly accessable by Whitney's parents, Ben and Christine Thomas, as the beneficiaries. The Thomas' and Childer's are in consistant contact with boats and teams to continue searching the coastline and sea. The families and friends of Michael, Whitney, and John will not stop their efforts in finding anything they can in order to bring these three bright spirits home. <br /><br />If love alone could bring them home, they would have been returned by now. <br /><br />We will not give up you three. We will bring you home.

Erick Brian Hernandez was suddenly and tragically killed in an automobile accident on Saturday, December 3, 2016.<br /><br />He was an incredible friend, with a larger than life personality. He never left a room without putting a smile on everyone’s face.  His impressions and animated stories cracked us all up and his talent was inspiring. Whether he was riding his bike, planning his next adventure, telling a joke, or helping his friends and family, he went above and beyond to make everyone’s lives better. <br /><br />In efforts to relieve some stress and financial burden, friends have set up this page to help cover the memorial/funeral expenses as well as any other financial needs for the family during this difficult time. Please contribute what you can. PLEASE READ......Most of you who frequent the shop have met our beloved mascot "Whisky" For the past 2 years he has raced to the front door to greet each and everyone one of you with a sniff/Hug/Nose in the butt/etc... He never met a stranger and often entertained your children while you shopped. His favorite place was the bed of my truck with his face in the wind. I could not leave home and not take him with me regardless of the temperature or where i was headed. <br /><br />Whisky was Hit last night and left for dead on the side of the road. The driver never stopped. We found him clinging to life around 1130p. He has swelling on the brain/broken front legs/facial trauma/possible loss of his left eye/etc... The next 24hrs are critical for him. The Doctors are doing all they can to control the swelling as this is the most important thing. We are asking you say a prayer for him.....If you don't pray that is OK...maybe just some positive thoughts in his direction would be great. His medical bills are already North of 6K we are trying to figure out what is the best thing to do as a family. So please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as well.

co-conspirator, and colleague Christopher Cono (2/25/1965 - 5/27/2013). 
The organizer of the Fortune 700 race series, a long-time employee of 
Velo Pasadena, and a usual suspect on all the local group rides, Chris 
was a true leader and advocate in the cycling community since the 1980s.
Week after week, Chris could be found 
racing passionately and vigorously on the LA crit scene. He was a unique
