2026.10.17 Quick update on dad. He remains stable and is opening his good eye (and sometimes the impacted one) more often. We have also seen some toe wiggling and involuntary leg movements. He had a tracheostomy this past week to ensure his breathing will remain stable. He is initiating his breaths and the respiratory therapists have him on a low oxygen support instead of a full ventilator during the day. We want to continue to thank everyone for their support throughout this journey. Know that we are relaying all your messages to dad and played the last out of the NLCS for him so he could hear the Brewes winning the pennant! And as I'm sure he is saying in his head, Go Bucky!
2026.10.13 Dad is all settled in the Aurora Summit ICU. The doctors there have a lot of information to go through so we are hopeful to have a treatment plan or path forward later today or tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure everyone knew the flight/transport went very well and everyone is (finally!) back in Wisconsin!
2026.10.12 A quick update on my dad. He is currently on a medical plane to Wisconsin! They took off from Reykjavík this morning (their time) and will be arriving at the Aurora ICU in Summit, WI later this afternoon/early evening. Per Jackie, he has been opening both eyes on and off all flight which is wonderful news! His right eye was swollen shut previously and it is great to hear he is opening it consistently. Once he gets settled into the ICU and we get updates from the doctors we will provide another update. The family (myself included) cannot thank you enough for the outpouring of support and generosity. We are all excited to see him and I am confident he is excited to be able to hear the Brewers play tonight! We cannot thank you all enough and please keep the prayers coming!
