Anas Muheisen’s Goal Has Been Reached Thank Allah, and thanks to your support and kindness, the goal for university student Anas Muheisen has been reached. We were hoping to raise just $100 to help him pay a portion of his required university fees, but your generous support exceeded the goal. Therefore, this morning, $200 was deposited in full to cover his fees, along with $200 for Islam, the mother we have been supporting, in addition to financial assistance deposited for the rest of the patients we support on a monthly basis. What was beautiful is that a financial transfer unexpectedly reached us from our dear friend Abu Alya, at a time when we are still waiting for the transfer from your donations to arrive. The good came at exactly the right time for those in need. Shukran from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who donated, shared, asked, prayed, or contributed a kind word. You are not helping just one person; you are helping keep hope alive within our community in Gaza. Shukran for being part of this small step that means so much to Anas and to all of us. ..... An update regarding the payment receipts for the beneficiary families today: $200 was deposited to the father of university student Anas Osama Muheisen to cover his university fees. $200 was deposited for Islam Abu Jazar, a hardworking mother, to cover the costs of treatment and food for her sick children and her husband, who suffers from heart disease. 100 shekels for the family of Mohammed Al Madlal to cover part of the costs of his wife’s treatment. 100 shekels for the family of Majdi Al Madlal to cover part of the costs of his son Hassan’s treatment sessions. 100 shekels for mama, who suffers from chronic illnesses and needs medication on an ongoing basis. 100 shekels for my sister Dua'a, who has her own personal reasons for needing it. 100 shekels for baba, who is in exile in the West Bank and still cannot go out to work because of his fear of settler attacks. 100 shekels was deposited as payment for bro Chef Ahmed, who helped us in the kitchen three weeks ago. He refused to accept it, but we insisted on setting it aside for his little daughter. 100 shekels for my spoiled little brother, Sari, also as payment for his help with us in the kitchen. 100 shekels for the family of Iman Dahlan, the wife of my expatriate brother, who is supporting her children here. (This was a gift on the occasion of Hassan’s payments.. But we haven’t completed the payments for the remaining families because of an issue with the transfer system. I’ll include everything in the full record at the end of the month.) I will post an update at the end of August, and I will include a complete record of all the financial transfers we have received from July 27 through August 27, along with the payment receipts that the remaining families who received a share of your support will receive (the kitchen workers, who are paid every two weeks). By the way, we divided the families into two groups because of a system issue with the transfer limit on our banking app. Stay close. With all my love. Shahad.
Education in Gaza: Our Highest Aspiration "Merhaba Shahad, good evening. Honestly, I’m embarrassed because I know I’ve asked you for a lot, and I know I’ve really overdone it. But I swear I tried so hard, and my family did too. My brother is with me at university, and they told him he has a full scholarship and everything. But they’re asking for fees to prove things, registration fees, and so many other expenses. We tried to delay the payments as much as we could, but now they won’t let him take the exam unless he pays this required amount. I know it’s a lot, honestly. But it doesn’t have to be all of it.. whatever you can manage, you and any kind people who might be able to help. So, my dear, please try for me this time if you can, of course. And if it’s not possible, that’s completely okay, I swear. Please don’t feel like you’ve fallen short in any way. And forgive me. " ((((The message has been translated))) As it came to me, the request comes from the student Ansam Muhaysin, whom you have previously helped twice with her university fees. She is now turning to you for help completing the fees for her brother, Anas Muhaysin, who needs approximately $250 in order to be able to sit for his exams. However, if we can raise just one payment of $100 toward the fees, Anas will be able to do so, InshaAllah. I will dedicate donations from my campaign to this appeal for 24 hours. After that, any donations received will go toward the general fund (for my family, patients, and the community kitchen). I know I am putting pressure on you, but I cannot ignore the voices of the people here. This is only for those who are able to support Anas in completing his university fees. Even a small gift would mean a lot to him. Please join me in supporting Anas on his educational journey. Education is one of the highest things we can aspire to in Gaza. We don’t all need to give a lot. Please, don’t feel any pressure at all. When we come together, even in small ways.. even just $10 from 10 of us.. we can make a real difference in their lives. Please know that I do not take any commission from the appeals I raise my voice for. With all my love Shahad
We will cook dishes of love and smile despite everything,,, under the heat of the tents, through the smoke of the fires, and amid the random, treacherous bursts of Israeli gunfire and shelling. We will carry our exhaustion to the fire and let our hands cook what our hearts are able to give: a warm meal, a little dignity, and a great deal of hope. Here, even in the midst of such cruelty, we try to make something from so little that will be enough for many. We will keep going despite the harshness of this world. Because in Gaza, even amid all this pain, we cook love and serve it at people’s tables. ***** Today, in our eighth week of Hassan’s project to provide meat meals to families in need, we once again prepared another 100 food parcels containing meat and fruit, thanks to the generous support of our friends Justin and Rozh, who chose to give their wedding gift to our kitchen. They donated $1,700 to us, turning their happiness into food that reaches the tables of families in Gaza. These are not just food parcels. They are a small way in which we try to stand by one another and preserve what remains of the spirit of our community. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to feeding my family and the families in my neighborhood. I also extend my deepest gratitude to my family, who supported me today. And I would especially like to thank Chef Raneen, who has all my respect and appreciation. If any of you would like to sponsor a food parcel for one family, the cost of each parcel is only $10–$13. The amount may seem small, but for a family in need, it can mean a complete meal, a little sense of security, and a message of love arriving at a time when we need it most. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, because you are not only supporting me,,, you are helping me support my community as well. Chef Hassan
