Hi, my name is Glen, and I’m building something simple that could make a real difference for kids in hospitals.
Anyone who’s seen a child hooked up to machines knows how intimidating it can be. The lights, the sounds, the equipment — it’s overwhelming, especially for young kids who don’t understand what’s happening.
The Little Shield Initiative is about changing that.
I’m creating small, friendly “Shield Bot” companions that attach to hospital equipment like IV poles. Instead of something cold and scary, kids see something that feels safe, familiar, and even comforting.
This isn’t about replacing care — it’s about supporting it. A small shift in how these environments feel can reduce fear, ease anxiety, and help kids feel a little more in control during a difficult time.
Right now, I’m raising funds to build and test the first working prototypes. This includes materials, safe and cleanable finishes, and refining a design that hospitals could realistically use.
Every dollar goes toward turning this idea into something real — something that can be placed beside a child when they need it most.
If you can help, even a small contribution moves this forward.
And if you can’t donate, sharing this means just as much.
Thank you for being part of something that puts kids first.
The Vision Going Forward
As this develops, Shield Bot can do more than just sit beside a child.
We’re exploring features like:
* A soft pulsing light to help distract and calm kids during procedures
* Designs that visually connect the robot to IV equipment, helping children understand where medicine is coming from in a less frightening way
* Small story elements, like a Shield Bot character and collectible progress markers, to give kids a sense of control and achievement during treatment
The goal is simple:
Turn something intimidating into something a child can understand — and even connect with.
