It is with enormous sadness that I wanted to let everyone know that Simon passed away peacefully shortly before midnight on 19 August, just a day after his 54th birthday. In his final hours, he was surrounded by those closest to him. While the hole he leaves behind is impossible to comprehend, Simon lived a life well-lived, well-loved, and massively enjoyed. From his time in hospitality, volunteering as a rugby coach, the Baskie landlord, to his infectious humour and gift of the gab, he touched so many lives. Even through his 34-month battle with glioblastoma, he never lost his warmth, his gratitude, or his ability to make others laugh. We would like to say an overwhelming thank you to everyone who supported the "Give Simon Time" campaign. Because of your incredible generosity, love, and community spirit, we were able to pursue every option and share precious, unforgettable moments together as a family. We are also deeply grateful to the exceptional medical teams, carers and hospice staff, who cared for Simon with such dignity and kindness right to the end. There will be plenty of time in the future to properly celebrate Simon’s life with the noise, laughter, and stories he so richly deserves. But for now, we grieve the loss of an incredible husband, dad, son, brother and friend. Love you always, Si. xx --- As I wrote in the previous update the remaining funds, will be used to help provide Steff, Ella and Nelle with some financial security and we will also make appropriate donations to some of the charities and organisations that have supported Simon and our family throughout this journey.
