Doctors discovered a mass in his brain, and he is now facing an extremely serious medical situation. Support for Grayson and the Greco Family

Kelvin Nivens, Owner and Coach of CrossFit Kel-Core, is one of those rare individuals that is hard to believe exists.  A  friend and mentor who is patient, warm, genuine, and extremely knowledgeable, Kelvin is beloved by everyone who is lucky enough to know him. He is a devoted father and generous member of this community. <br /><br />Before COVID19 disrupted life as we know it, Kelvin worked 14-hour days, ensuring his Kel-Core Warriors were well taken care of. His sharp eye and thoughtful programming, combined with his mastery of the art of coaching gave us real results. Kelvin has provided our community with unequivocal support, brilliance, devotion, skill and validation. His dedication to each one of us has forged tremendous personal transformations while helping us navigate through physical, mental and emotional healing. When Kelvin battled cancer several years ago, he continued to teach classes and keep his gym open for our benefit. Kelvin confronted cancer with grace and fortitude. He showed us what life is really worth and continued to give back to others. Kelvin has faced the challenges of being a black business owner in a predominantly white community. In a time of tremendous pain and division, Kelvin has shared the truth with love, sincerity and wit. Kelvin has a gift with language and calls his gym floor “a canvas where athletic artistry is performed” while inviting us to “contribute to the mural”. When a client questions Kelvin about a lift or a move, he responds with an acumen and perception that is truly remarkable. Kelvin will always keep it real and tell us what may be hard to hear. He keeps us safe by reminding us the ego is our enemy. If you walk into Kelvin’s gym and really listen, you will be rewarded with the sound of Life’s beating heart. If you really open your eyes, you will see Life’s monumental reflection. <br /><br />The financial impact of mandated gym closures and the sustained instability from COVID19 has put the future of CrossFit Kel-Core on shaky ground.  Kelvin has continued to support us, working hard to create a virtual coaching platform and personally ensuring our various needs are met. We miss his calming voice and thoughtfulness, the very things that provide a sense of normalcy to our disrupted lives. <br /><br />As Kelvin wrote in his latest blog post “the essence of [his] being is a simple and pure desire to help.” This rings true for all community members Kelvin has helped—through the confines of day-to-day life, personal triumphs, heartbreaking tragedies, and everything in-between. Kelvin is the helper, but it is time for us to help him. The intention of this GoFundMe is to provide a semblance of financial relief for a human being who embodies strength, kindness, empathy, and compassion. <p>Bonnie unexpectedly got sick around January 19th. Thinking it was the common cold or flu she put herself to bed to rest. Her symptoms of joint pain and swelling, high fever and weakness progressed as the days went on. A valiant trip to urgent care resulted in a flu swab (later to be negative) and some ibuprofen was all that was done. She proceeded to lay in bed for another 4 days until she told her husband “I’m scared”.  The ambulance got her to the hospital where she was put on a ventilator to help her breath.  Bonnie has contracted streptococcus pneumonia and it is severe and she is septic! This is the type of pneumonia you here that kills people. Bonnie has been in the ICU for 8 days now. Her poor body has been on every drug to keep her heart, lungs and kidney from failing. She’s been on too many antibiotics to count. She continues to be on the ventilator for support!<br />Bonnie is also a fighter!! She’s on the battle field right now and she will win this war to live. When she comes home she will enter into a new fight. One where she won’t be able to work and earn money to pay her everyday life bills. She will need help!! Please help a little if you can. Help Bonnie

Sam Marroquin passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 2nd.  Sam was a sweet, outgoing guy with a kind heart.  He always had a big smile and a word of encouragement for anyone who needed it.<br /><br />Sam leaves behind his wife, two sons, his mother and six siblings, as well as a lot of nieces and nephews who he adored and played with all the time.  No one can imagine the agony they are going through right now, trying to deal with their grief, as well as the looming expenses of a burial and memorial.  Also, Sam was the sole income provider for the family, and they are struggling to figure out how they are going to be able to survive financially without him.  We can’t bring Sam back, but we’d like to help them get through this as painlessly as possible.<br /><br />Sam was also a beloved employee of Bellows Plumbing, Heating &amp; Air.  He was an enthusiastic plumber who worked harder than anyone.  His bright smile and engaging laughter were such an integral part of daily life at Bellows, we struggle to imagine what it will be like without him.  <br /><br />Sam will be sorely missed by all.  Please find it in your heart to give what you can to help out his family.
