A new life has arrived! Wafaa gave birth to a healthy baby yesterday evening at Mubarak Hospital in Khan Younis!! The baby is doing very well, he is strong and healthy and so loved! Wafaa is stable , though her body is weak from a tough cesarean and a very unexpected bleeding in her urine. She is under medical supervision , but It seems that a bladder injury had been identified during the operation…… I want to stress on the severity of this incident, a clear evidence of the severe shortage of medical supplies and equipment, lack of sterile conditions etc. Wafaa has received a catheter for the time being and tomorrow she is planned for a CT at another hospital. This can be life threatening , especially under the extreme conditions of in Gaza, where the infection risk is very high. I am very worried for her at the moment. Please keep Wafaa in your thoughts and prayers, she will need us the next days! Hi, I am Isabella and I live in The Netherlands. I know Mahmoud since he was 18 , when the war took everything away from him. In October 2023 when the extremely violent escalation of Israel in Gaza started, he fled his home with his parents, three little brothers, and his older sister. They left behind their house, their books, their future, everything. Now, Mahmoud lives in a tent with his family. They have no steady donations or help coming through and every penny they have goes to food, just enough to survive. Mahmoud had been a top medical student at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, on track to become a surgeon. But by May 2024, his university, targeted by the Israelian occupation, like all twelve others in Gaza, has been and has been destroyed. Even so, Al-Azhar University tried to restart classes for some students and encouraged others to study online where possible. Mahmoud wants so badly to return to studying. Sometimes he participates to makeshift lessons in the camp , held by tutors. He refuses to give up, but money are standing in his way. His yearly tuition is €4,200 (3,000 dinar). Without it, he can’t continue his studies. Mahmoud has found his purpose amidst the hell he is going through in Gaza -he wants to help his community-his people. He wants to be a doctor who saves lives, who trains the next generation of healers, who rebuilds Gaza’s healthcare system. We aim for a €5,000 goal which would cover his tuition for a year , books and a small amount of money to buy him food and vitamins! Mahmoud is fighting for his dream, but he can’t do it alone. Dear kind people, This is Wafaa, a 36y old mother from Gaza, 8 months pregnant with her first baby girl. This blessing brought new joy and hope, but Wafaa lives in a tent and cannot provide for her children’s needs. I’ve known Wafaa’s family for over two years now. They’re not just people I fundraise for —they’re family. Emad, her husband and their 3 sons have been several times displaced from the Northern Gaza . Life in a tent is unbearable and offers her family no proper shelter-summers are extremely hot, winters are harsh. Emad was a teacher before the war. Now he is unable to find work and while also caring for his sick elderly parents, he is depending on donations like most families in Gaza. This is why we have to act now: Gaza is under brutal siege. Israel’s military campaign in Gaza continues to target civilians and restrict goods going in. Food, medicine, even basic vitamins are scarce and whatever is available is very pricey. Right now, Wafaa is counting down the days until her baby girl arrives early September. Unfortunately, she is unable to give birth naturally so she needs to ensure a good recovery from C section birth. Their baby girl, like all children, deserves a real home, and a beginning of life with warmth , a roof and safety. We are aiming for €5,000 goal , which will cover: ✅A secure rental home for at least 3 months ✅Baby essentials: powder milk, diapers, blankets, a crib ✅Wafaa access to post-C-section care and a bed ( as she is still sleeping on the floor ) vitamins and nutritional food for herself and all children.
