He was admitted to Sacred Heart medical in Spokane this last weekend where he was diagnosed with leukemia. On Monday night, he was transferred to University of Washington to receive treatment for the next 100 days. We will know more this next week as we are waiting for results and autopsy results . He is currently ongoing chemotherapy and the rest of his treatment plan. With that being said, he is unable to work right now.

<div>He was not only full of light, but full of strength. Even while facing his own challenges, Carter never stopped showing up for the people he loved. <div>This GoFundMe has been created by the extended family of <strong>Sarah Manchester</strong> to assist her parents, Brandy and Khris Manchester, with the care and support of their sweet daughter Sarah's unexpected injury and the medical expenses. These include ER visits, air flight, hospital, doctor fees, surgeries, lab expenses, travel costs, and rehabilitation devices and services they will be navigating in the upcoming days, weeks, and months ahead to support Sarah and their family.

<div>On Thursday, April 24th, Sarah jammed her foot. The pain was bad, but she began to feel better and was able to go about her normal routine. On Friday, the pain began to increase, so she returned to the ER and was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain. She went back to the ER on Saturday as swelling and pain came on very quickly, resulting in Compartment Syndrome. Sarah was helicoptered to UVM hospital for emergency surgery. At that time, the family asked for prayers that Sarah would regain feeling, movement, and blood flow in her leg again, and for a diagnosis on the type of infection.

<div>On Monday, Sarah was evaluated by multiple doctors at UVM, including ortho, surgeon, infectious disease, and rheumatologist due to the severity of her foot and the infection spreading. Additional exploratory surgeries were scheduled. Muscle and tissue had to be removed, and the discussion for removing her foot and partial leg became a reality. There was no clear answer on the type of infection that was spreading.

<div>Early Tuesday morning, the decision was made to remove Sarah's leg above the knee. She was in and out of the OR today for wound and dressings. She is in ICU. Her medical team is proactive and diligent in the ongoing aggressive control of what they now know is Strep A  and side effects. She needed additional units of platelets and blood and developed rash.
</div>

<div>Our prayers are being answered. Today, Wednesday Sarah had a very good day. Her labs have improved tremendously. She has not needed more blood or platelets. Her wound is healing nicely hopefully they can close soon. The goal is get her off ventilator as soon as possible.
</div>

<div><strong>This is a tragic incident with an outcome no family or 15-year-old is prepared to navigate or process quickly. It will be a long emotional, medical, and rehabilitation journey.</strong>

<div>Hi, my name is Gary and I am fund raising to help with expenses while I am being treated for and hopeful recovery from Pancreatic Cancer. As many of you know, this last year has been rough, with the onset of cancer, the loss of an incredible amount of weight, and my livelihood as a photographer. After a long process, I was finally diagnosed with cancer, and was given 6 weeks to live by my surgeon unless immediate chemotherapy was undertaken. I started the chemotherapy treatments with the end goal of having the tumor neutralized and then undergoing an operation to remover the tumor from my pancreas and bile duct. With my operation scheduled for October 6th I applied for Disability through Social Security, as I was not old enough to apply for early retirement through them. I was notified that I was disapproved for Disability on Sep 13th, as my wages for the past year were not enough to keep my coverage active with SSI. I am looking for help to help cover my basic expenses while I prepare for the surgery, and to help span the gap that the recovery time will not allow me to work. The operation requires that I spend at least 7 days in the hospital, followed by a two to three month recovery time while the body hopefully adjusts to the changes in a positive manner. I appreciate any help you can afford, and feel blessed to know so many wonderful people.

Avery Denney, age 17, has been awarded 1st place in the Youth America Grand Prix senior division out of 145 classical ballet solos.
Youth America Grand Prix is the largest student ballet audition and scholarship competition in the world, offering over $300,000 in scholarships to professional schools around the globe.
It is not often that a dancer from Spokane is awarded this honor. It was last seen in 2018 when Clara Vazanko held the title at 15.
Avery achieved 3rd place in 2022 and was awarded a full scholarship to the Harid Conservatory where she enjoyed 4 weeks of intensive training.
With the support of the Spokane community, we are hopeful Avery and Coach Jonna Maule will be able to attend the international finals in Tampa, Florida in April of 2023. <br />We are so thankful for the opportunity and Grateful for your support.

<div>Ashley Catucci is many things, of things that define her; she is a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and so much more. Throughout her life, she has been goal-oriented and has achieved her lifelong goal of becoming a mother to a beautiful baby girl, Ellis, born on October 28th, 2021. She has achieved this goal through the love and care of her husband, Ben Smith, with whom she has spent 11 incredible years. Many of their shared goals have been earned and achieved through patience and hard work.

<div>She holds many passions, one of which is being an educator. Ashley is a beloved 1st grade teacher at Spokane International Academy; she is a joy to her students and faculty. She graduated from Joel E. Ferris High School in 2009 and received her degree in Elementary Education and a BAE in Sociology from Western Washington University in 2018. Upon graduating, she received a 2nd grade teaching position within Sedro-Woolley Washington. As the pandemic hit, the need to be near family drew her back to Spokane, WA, where she started a new journey as a 1st grade teacher at her current school, SIA. This school year was the start of her 4th year of teaching, and she was excited to learn and grow with her students.

<div>These last two years have been full of milestones. Ashley and Ben bought their first home in August 2021 and welcomed their first child, Ellis. Ben and Ashley tied the knot in an intimate Oregon Coast wedding surrounded by family just last July 2022.

<div>As October started, the Catucci-Smith family started preparation for Ellis’ first birthday with much excitement and happiness. At the same time, Ashley began having debilitating pain and migraines, lasting for brief moments at a time.

<div>On Friday, November 4th, 2022, Ashley was in the midst of teaching when she felt like she was going to pass out. She paid a visit to the school nurse, who had her lie down and eat some food. After speaking with other staff members, they encouraged her to have her mother pick her up and be seen by a medical professional. Ashley went to three medical clinics before finally landing in an emergency room, where they performed an EKG followed by a CT scan. Despite struggling with medical anxiety her whole life, Ashley bravely sought all testing during this time. Within a two-hour period of time, the ER physicians came to Ashley and her mother, reporting a large brain mass within her imaging.

<div>On Friday, November 11th, 2022, Ashley was officially diagnosed with brain cancer. She has handled this diagnosis with the same grace she shows to her family, friends, and students. Ashley and Ben are currently working through the complicated process of FMLA. Ashley’s little family needs help covering the exorbitant cost of treatments and hospitalizations, as well as their mortgage and health insurance - Ashley will lose her medical insurance and benefits once her FMLA runs out. A donation of any kind allows Ashley to be surrounded by her husband and daughter while they navigate this journey through cancer and recovery.

Ashley Catucci Fights Brain Cancer

<div>We are Megan and Kristen Hilty, and we need your help. On September 4th, a Floatplane carrying four of our family members went down in Puget Sound off the coast of Whidbey Island and tragically, there were no survivors. On board was our Sister, Lauren (who was eight months pregnant with our nephew Luca), our brother-in-law, Ross, and our two-year-old nephew, Remy. When the NTSB brought up the plane, several victims were recovered, and thankfully Ross was one of them - but our beloved sister and nephews were not. Now that the NTSB has concluded its work, it is up to us to hire a private company to go look for them. While the chances are slim, there is still a possibility we can find them, and we all agree that at the end of the day, we want to say we did everything we could to bring them home. But we can’t do this alone. As you can imagine, a search and recovery mission of this magnitude comes at a tremendous cost - potentially a considerable amount more than we are attempting to raise. We have launched this campaign to help raise the money to cover these costs, and if we can raise more than what is needed, we will donate those funds to the incredible team who have dedicated their lives to helping families like ours search for their loved ones. <div>Hi everyone, as most of you know Tom is in the ICU right now after our family discovered his brain tumor on Monday night, April 18 2022. We just received the preliminary MRI report showing that he has multiple tumors that are consistent with lymphoma. As of today, surgery is off the table. At this moment, he is time and place disoriented. We are not yet clear what next the course of action will be. <br /><br />We are raising money to cover any costs of medical bills, travel to and from the hospital, and future care. As a family, we are hoping to avoid any more chemotherapy. There are centers in Tempe, Arizona, and in Tijuana, Mexico that have success with lymphoma patients. If Tom decides to try an alternative method, the funds will help to support his journey there, or whatever path he may be on.<br /><br />

<div>It is no secret that Maximilian “Max” Lenail loved the outdoors. This love story took him from the boulders of Bishop, to the mountains of the Eastern Sierras, to the landscapes of Spain, to the waterfalls of Oregon, and finally to the hills of San Diego, where he passed away on January 29th at the age of 21. He was an avid and skilled outdoorsman, a phenomenal rock climber who loved a new challenge while always bringing out the best in others. And while his love of nature brought him all over the world and fueled his everyday life, he was also a son, brother, and friend of Palo Alto, to which he always came home.
</div>

<div>Max lived in Palo Alto nearly his entire life, first on Parkinson Avenue and then on Hamilton Avenue. He frequented the Arastradero Preserve, running through its luscious hills. Most often, however, he could be found at his local Pardee Park with his beloved dog, Hazel, by his side. It was there that he brought his friends and family who happened to find themselves with him when he declared that “It’s time for Hazel’s walk.” It is there that his family chose to honor him Thursday night, hosting a candlelight vigil in his honor. It is there that his friends spoke of his desire to be a physician, his passion for cooking, his goofiness, his unique giggle, his many trips to the California Avenue farmer’s market, and, of course, his unparalleled kindness. And so, it only seems right that it is there, at Pardee Park, that we hope Max’s legacy can live on through all of those who he loved and who loved him, with a bench dedicated to his memory.

They won the coveted ‘King of the Losers‘ bracket. He was so excited to ‘win’ Hoopfest. <br />He touched many lives, you will be missed, friend!<br /><br />As you can imagine, Andrew's mother, Erica, is devastated by the loss of her son. She was also not expecting this financially and funerals are not cheap. We would love to band together and help Erica gain closure and show the respect to Andrew he deserves. Hi there! I am trying to raise funds quickly for a photo expedition to the Big Island of Hawaii to photograph various aspects of the volcano Kilauea eruption. I am a professional full time photographer that lives in Oregon City, OR. I am well published and have won numerous awards and love my craft. <br /><br />Kilauea and the lava flows have always facinated me, and they have always been on my bucket list to get to  photograph. In light of recent events, volcanic activity eruptions and fissures I feel that the present time is optimal for capturing the event at it's peak.  <br /><br />Because of short time frame involved and the lack of booking in advance, (One can not predict this type of event with any certainy) the cost of travel to the island is higher than I can afford on my own. This scholarship will be awarded to a senior soccer player at Central Valley High School who gives back to the community by serving others. Last Week, Jon Warshawsky and his partner in life were out for a sunny Easter drive in their Classic convertible Sportscar in San Diego. Another driver who was ruled DUI by the police department crossed the center median and hit Jon and His partner head-on causing tragic results. They were taken to the ICU in critical condition. Unfortunately Jon's partner did not survive the collision.  Friends of theirs are so very saddened and have asked how they can help. <br /><br />Jon is in very serious condition still and is undergoing surgery as we submit this fundraiser to friends, colleagues, and family. Jon is likely to face out of pocket expenses during this long recuperation and rehabilitation for his injuries. We all know deductibles for health care can be outrageously overwhelming. There is no telling currently how prolonged this recovery will be and how his work may be affected and life with his family moving forward.<br /><br />This fund's control has already been turned over to Jon's administration so that he can best plan for his family's needs. Early on the morning of October 6th, Ron was injured in a mulit car accident that was caused by a vehcile driving on the wrong side of I-90 in downtown Spokane. Ron was severely injured and rushed to the hospital, where he receiving extensive treatment. Ron is an Assistant  Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 304 and an active member of this community, and now is our chance to give back to him.
