My family and I are facing eviction after the city took over our property and refused to make the necessary repairs. We have been living in dangerous conditions with mold and lead, and it has taken a serious toll on my children’s health. My daughter now has sepsis, two of my other kids have airway disease, and my youngest, who is three and has autism, is also struggling. DSS had been paying our rent, but because of the violations, they stopped payment. We went to court and are taking the matter to trial, but our attorney has advised us to move for the safety of our children.
We have tried every resource available, but we are out of options. I am putting my pride aside and asking for help because my kids, all under the age of 10, deserve a safe, happy, and secure home. The funds raised will help us cover the security deposit and first month’s rent for a new apartment, giving my children the chance to have a roof over their heads and a fresh start. I have never experienced anything like this before, and I am afraid for my babies. I just want them to be safe and to know that our community cares.
