I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend, LaNell, and her family during one of the most difficult times of their lives. LaNell’s father is currently at home on hospice after a long battle with cancer, and his time with his loved ones is very limited. As many in the Kansas City recovery community know, he has spent years helping countless people find and maintain sobriety through AA. He has answered late-night phone calls, shared his experience and strength, and helped many people rebuild their lives. The positive impact he has had on others reaches far beyond what most people will ever know.
In addition to his service to the recovery community, he dedicated approximately 20 years of his life working for the Kansas City Water Department, serving his community and providing for his family. LaNell has stepped away from work to be by her father’s side during these final days, helping care for him and making the most of the precious time they have left together. As you can imagine, the emotional toll is immense, and the financial burden has added additional stress during an already heartbreaking time.
We are asking for help to cover his cremation expenses, as well as to help ease some of the financial strain caused by missed work and end-of-life costs. If this family has touched your life in any way, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help relieve some of the burden and allow LaNell to focus on what matters most right now—being present with her dad. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
