<div>Life has already asked more of my mom than most people will ever face — yet she has never stopped fighting.
</div>
<div>My mother, Lissette, is a devoted single mom of three girls. I am 17 years old, and my little sisters (twins) are 6 years old. For years, my mom has balanced the responsibilities of raising her daughters, running our small family business, and tending to our small farm and animals. But today, she faces one of the toughest battles of her life. On January 21, 2026, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC).
</div>
<div>Cancer is not the first major health crisis she has survived. At 18 years old, she suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm that nearly took her life. Although she survived, after being in a coma for months and paralyzed from the whole left side of her body. It took her many years to arrive at the independence and daily living that she achieved at prior to her Cancer diagnosis. After the aneurysm, she was wheelchair bound for a few years and had to learn how to perform basic activities of daily living such as eating and speaking. The aneurysm has left her with permanent disabilities affecting the entire left side of her body to this day and has not been able to recover mobility of her left hand.

<div>With determination and incredible strength, she built a life for her children. She started our small family business, Country Road Soaps. Using goat’s milk from our ranch, I help my mom handcraft soaps, lotions, and other products that we sell online and at local markets.
</div>
<div>What is Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC)?
</div>
<div>IBC is the most aggressive entity of breast cancer. See FN1. “It shows a rapid progression, frequent local and distant metastases, and lower overall survival compared with other breast cancers”. See FN 2. It is a rare form of breast cancer, and “[i]n many cases, IBC is lately diagnosed or frequently misdiagnosed . . . treated with antibiotics lengthen periods for correct diagnosis”. Id. This was Lissette’s experience; the Emergency Room misdiagnosed her with dry mastitis and sent her home with antibiotics.

<div>IBC can be lethal, and survival rates vary depending on a variety of factors.
</div>
<div>Lissette’s Current Treatment Plan
</div>
<div>As of March 2026, my mom is undergoing an aggressive treatment plan which includes 7–8 months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, followed by a major surgery to remove her right breast and affected lymph nodes. After surgery, she will need time to recover before beginning multiple rounds of radiation therapy, and finally a full-body scan to ensure the cancer has not spread elsewhere. Altogether, her treatment is expected to last over a year, requiring immense physical strength and placing a significant strain on her ability to work and care for her family.

<div>Navigating Activities of Daily Life With IBC
</div>
<div>As many other families know all too well, cancer treatment can take a devastating toll on the body. As of March 2026, my mom has undergone two chemotherapy treatments. They have been incredibly difficult physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. In just one week, she lost 9 pounds and was left with very little strength or energy. She suffers from side effects such as extreme exhaustion. fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, severe bone pain and a weakened immune system. Between medical treatments, side effects, and the ongoing challenges of her disability resulting from the aneurysm, even basic tasks have become overwhelming.

<div>My mother’s cancer has made it extremely difficult for her to keep up with daily responsibilities or maintain our family business, Country Road Soaps, which she depends on. Her ability to work has been dramatically reduced by her chemotherapy symptoms. She remains hopeful that future treatments will be less severe, but as of now, the toll on her body is significant and is making it difficult to stay afloat financially during this critical time. I am currently a junior in high school working on my associate’s degree. To help family, I am juggling school, caring for my mother, and my six (6) jobs, which includes helping my mom handcraft products for our family business.

<div>Why this Fundraiser was Created
</div>
<div>100% of the funds raised will go directly to my mom and little sisters. This fundraiser has been created to help them with the following:
