 It pains us to have to write this. As many know on 10/17/26 our beloved Cristian took his last breath. The past year &amp; a half he battled so long and hard against cancer until he physically couldn’t fight anymore. Each day he never failed to shine his light &amp; stay positive through these hard times. He made sure he was always there for everyone he loves regardless of how tired he became.. He was the strongest person I know. Showing up each day even when his body felt too tired to do so. He never gave up even on the toughest days. Hes an amazing partner, son, brother, nino &amp; friend.. He made such an incredible impact on so many peoples life. His personality was definitely a special one. As we prepare to lay him to rest we have funeral costs to cover. Anything anyone has to offer is beyond greatly appreciated. Support for Cristian’s Funeral Costs

Mannie and Ona Ortega’s son, Hero, has faced more medical challenges in his 5 years than most people do in a lifetime. Born with pulmonary atresia with VSD, Hero was resuscitated at birth and spent his first 101 days in the NICU and CICU. Since then, he has undergone over 10 surgical procedures, including multiple open heart surgeries. Now, Hero is preparing for another open heart surgery this February to replace a valve in his heart. The doctors expect he will spend 1 to 2 weeks in the hospital, followed by a 6-week recovery at home. During this time, Mannie and Ona will be taking unpaid leave from their jobs to care for Hero and support him through his recovery.

 Despite all these challenges, Hero is a true inspiration. He is happy, carefree, and adventurous—never letting anything stop him. He loves running, climbing, reading, and learning, and he has the sweetest heart. Hero’s resilience and spirit have touched everyone who knows him. This surgery is a necessary step in his journey, and while the recovery will be tough, his family is hopeful for a brighter, healthier future.

She was our world, and her unexpected passing was devastating. However, this profound loss not only strengthened us individually but also forged an unbreakable bond between us as sisters. She’s not just my sister; she’s my best friend, my other half, and the only person who truly understands me. With our dad living far away in Florida and unable to travel, we’ve always been each other’s rock. <div>Tiffany was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2016 while living in Sicily, Italy. She noticed an itchy mole on her back, and after testing, it turned out to be cancerous. Fortunately, it hadn’t spread at the time, and after removing the mole very deeply and her lymph nodes, regular check-ups became part of her life. She moved back to the U.S. in 2018 to live with my husband, Joseph, and me in Imperial Valley, California.

<div>This year, in November 2024, her life took an unexpected turn. On December 1, It started with her feeling numbness and weakness in her foot when she woke up in the morning, followed by severe headaches and neck stiffness. Tiffany took herself to the ER at Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley, CA., where doctors discovered 13 masses in her brain—one the size of an egg. She was airlifted to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego that night. Further tests revealed that the melanoma had returned and spread to her brain, lungs, spleen, and liver; the numbness and weakness in her foot were due to a seizure she had while sleeping. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma with a BRAF mutation, a particularly aggressive form of the disease.

<div>On December 3, surgeons at Scripps Mercy Hospital performed emergency brain surgery to remove the largest tumor. Tiffany is now recovering and preparing for radiation, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy at Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego.

<p>Amado, our dad, is a hard working man of 4 kids and the back bone to our family. Anyone who knows our dad, knows that he is the most outgoing and brightest light in the room.

<p>On Thursday October 3rd, our dad was rushed to the emergency room for a life threatening medical emergency. He has been plagued with a series of abdominal complications resulting in a major surgery that had to be done on a big part of his lower intestine. Our dads condition now requires 24/7 care as he fights back to health. He has been undergoing debilitating symptoms and will be unable to move or work as we are still waiting on test results and answers. He has a long road ahead of him as this has altered his day to day life.

<p>Our dad is a valuable member to his community, family, and friend. If you know him, you know that he is a selfless, prideful, and a hardworking man. Now is our opportunity to come together for him. We are humbly seeking support during this difficult time. <div>Anybody who knows me, knows that I am a very reserved, quiet and private person. I have always been independent and I am used to doing everything on my own for me and my children. So, please understand that it is hard for me to put my personal business out there today and to finally ask for help..

<div>These last 2 years I have been silently battling a rare terminal cancer.. Small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC), a high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma.

<div>On May 7th, 2022, the day before Mother’s Day, I walked into the emergency room due to what I thought to be just a normal shoulder injury and walked out diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer along with the doctor’s words replaying in my head, “I hope you have a good support system at home because you’re going to need it, you have a long and hard journey ahead of you.” The doctor than proceeded to tell me that there were multiple tumors that had metastasized to other parts of my body including my skeletal, which is how we were able to find the tumor that was causing my shoulder pain. By that point the damage had already been done. In that moment, mine and my kids’ entire lives had changed forever, as well as all of those around us.

<div>Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there.. On January 17th, 2024, I was diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome. Which has caused me so many other underlying issues such as rapid weight gain &amp; swelling (60+ lbs in a matter of weeks), muscle and bone deterioration, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, Moon Face &amp; so much more! This disease has already taken so much away from me and my family!

<div>Since my diagnosis I have managed to keep working full time, taking only 2 months off in the beginning for surgeries , biopsies, appointments, radiation and chemotherapy treatments. All while still being a full time mama. I do have an AMAZING support system but over time it has put a major financial, emotional, mental and physical toll on us all.

<div>I have been ashamed and embarrassed for people to know the truth, that I have kept this a secret for as long as I could but the physical effects are starting to take control and I can’t hide it any longer. I’ve never been good at accepting or asking for help but unfortunately, I believe I’ve come to a point in my life and health where that is no longer an option for me. I am no longer able to physically work which has put a major financial burden on me.

<div>UPDATE: September 18th, 2024 I had a Dr. Appointment with my oncologist. Unfortunately, I wasn’t given the best news. Due to my prognosis, I have decided to discontinue treatments as they will no longer help. I have been given 3 months to live. 3 months to spend with my babies and loved ones. 3 months to make the best of what time I have left. During these next couple of months I need to make sure my kids will be ok after I am gone. I am faced now with the most difficult thing of planning my own funeral. Due to me not being able to work for months now I do not have any finances saved up or any life insurance set aside for this situation. I have looked into the expenses and I am needing to raise about $5,000 to ensure funeral costs are covered plus I’m wanting to leave something behind for my babies.

<div>On Wednesday evening my sister, Ashley, experienced a horrible seizure which led to her heart stopping for a total of 8 minutes. She has been in the ICU on life support since then. She has not yet woken up from sedation and is still on the ventilator.

<div>Anyone who knows Ashley knows that she is stubborn and she is a fighter. We have hope that she will wake up and her brain will be fully functional. My sister is a single mother and has two young boys to return to. We know she will be fighting for them. We are so thankful and blessed that she is still here with us.

<p>I lost my beautiful daughter Jasmine yesterday March 1st. She was a <br />mother to 3 young beautiful boys and she was so full of love and everybody loved her.<br /><br />Last year my daughter was diagnosed with end stage liver failure at <br />that time we were hoping she would be able to get on the transplant <br />list. As time went by we were hoping that her disease would not <br />Progress any further.
</p>

<p>As months went by her visits to the emergency room were becoming <br />quite frequent. Her prior  hospital visit at UCSF I learned that her <br />kidneys were doing failing along with congestive heart failure. Friday <br />February 7th she was discharged home.<br /><br />Monday February 10 th she was scheduled for an infusion for her kidneys at memorial hospital in Modesto after she had the infusion I learned that she wasnt feeling well and went to the emergency room. Once <br />there they had to admit her. I received a call late Friday that they<br />needed my permission to urgently start dialysis and intubate her due to bleeding that had occurred.<br /><br />I had become hopeful once she was able to be removed from the <br />ventilator.  3 days later her blood pressure kept dropping<span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">  which there was nothing else that could be done. She passed away on Sunday <br />March 1st.</span>
