We just want to say thank you :-)
I’m Nicola, George’s grandma. He stays with me three or four nights a week. George is in heart failure and has a pacemaker and tracheostomy. He is tube-fed and relies on several medical machines overnight, including a ventilator, to keep him alive. George has spent much of his life going through procedure after procedure, but he is amazing and never moans. On his first birthday, he had major surgery performed by Mr Asif Hasan, the surgeon who later won a Pride of Britain Award. Just yesterday, George travelled to Newcastle to have his jejunal (JEJ) tube changed. It took two hours of prodding and poking, and it was painful for him. Today, the tube has come out again, so we need to make the journey back to Newcastle on Monday. He goes through so much, yet just gets on with life. I’m so proud of him. George really wants to go to Iceland. Because of his complex needs, he needs trained carers with him. Each carer costs £1,500, on top of George’s own trip costs. I’ve attached a screenshot with more information. It’s hard to ask for help, but we want to do everything we can to make this trip possible for him. Any donation or share would mean so much to us. Thank you for reading.
