Freddy Joaquín García is a 50-year-old husband, father, and hardworking man from Honduras. He has spent the past several years facing one life-changing health challenge after another, but his most urgent battle is happening right now.
In April 2026, Freddy was diagnosed with retinal detachment and cataracts in both eyes, caused by diabetes and high blood pressure. Without a surgery called phacovitrectomy and Avastin injections, Freddy could lose his sight forever. This is an emergency, and time is running out to save his vision.
A charitable organization has generously agreed to cover about 60% of the surgery cost. We are seeking to raise funds to cover the remaining cost of the surgery, Avastin injections, medications, medical tests, transportation to dialysis and specialist appointments, follow-up care, and unexpected medical expenses. If we raise more than what is needed for Freddy’s immediate medical expenses, any additional funds will help Freddy and his family start a small home-based business selling clothing, handbags, lotions, and other items in their community. This would allow him to continue supporting his family while working around his medical treatments.
Despite everything he has endured, Freddy remains mentally strong, has a wonderful sense of humor, and continues to be a kind, social, and determined person. His greatest hope is to preserve his vision, maintain his independence, and continue supporting his family in any way he can. We ask for your urgent support to help Freddy save his sight and rebuild his life.
