Help Maram Rebuild Her Life and Dreams

The Hire Family suddenly and tragically lost their 16 year old daughter Harlee. Harlee was an exceptional student athlete, had an exuberant laugh, and was always first in line to try and get a smile out of her friends if they were feeling down. She adored her family, and loved ones. Harlee was an incredible kid, and we are all blessed to have had her as a part of our lives.

Her family is carrying the weight of the world, and I would like to do anything we can to ease that burden, even just slightly. Medical expenses should be the last thing Harlee’s parents need to concern themselves with, and we know the cost of care in a hospital can be great.

Thank you kindly for your support of The Hire Family. They need us to love them big right now. ♥️

A Fundraiser That's Not A Drag 2021

Many of you have likely met Mr. Perfect while hiking out there. He’s an inspirational, wonderfully kind soul.

He’s been arrested in Key West, FL - Monroe County Detention Center -for something, as far as we are aware, is a misunderstanding and/or is a mistake. Because he is deaf he had not been given his rights (in writing), during the trial was the ONLY time he was offered an interpreter (and this happened by a video that kept freezing- which upon telling the judge and lawyer they ignored) and the public defender has still not been to see him. He is confused, scared, and does not understand why he is there. No one was able to communicate to him why he was there until I was able to video chat him. He has been in prison for two months.

We have seen him via video and want to get him out ASAP while he waits for his December court date. Since being in prison he has gotten the flu, has gotten a rash, and has been in the medical unit for over 2 weeks of his time.

We cannot tell you how angry this makes us and we are incredulous. Is anyone local to the Key West area? Do you have a car? Could you pick up or go see a fellow AT thru hiker in need?

I know the trail provides. Let’s make sure that holds true even off the white blazed path. Love to you all.

Also- want to be clear on where funding is going. We are prioritizing in this way -

1) pay for a bail bond and travel expenses for the new criminal lawyer to get him out through a bail bonds court ASAP
2) reservation for an Air Bnb or room so he has a local address to give to the bail bonds court judge while he awaits his trial in December
3) funds to help him get back on his feet and replace all of his stolen items (backpack, clothes, toiletries, etc)

Fundraiser for Mr. Perfect

QoQo Love: a wise woman, a dear friend, a teacher, an artist, a mother and sister to many. She brings light, love, compassion and a deep knowing to the people who surround her. When you encounter Qo, you feel intrinsically how much she has given of herself over the course of her life to care for and support others -- her family, of course, and also her neighbors, her wider community, the people she has worked with in her career as a case manager and career coach.

Now it is our turn to return that light and love, that compassion, care and support to Qo.

QoQo has breast cancer. The tumor is in her left breast. It is not lost on Qo or those of us who are close to her that this tumor is over her heart. This heart that has been the source of profound love, wisdom and charity for others over decades; a heart that has been challenged with the deepest grief and loss as her life was turned upside down in recent years.

Upside down from the diagnosis, yes, alongside a series of events in the last few years of her life that have taken from her nearly everything she has held dear. Qo prefers privacy with these aspects of her story in this public forum. For this space, we will simply say that she has faced and continues to face death and loss in every aspect of her life. While she is hesitant to name it, Qo and many of us around her are aware that much of what she has faced has been due to or magnified by being a black woman living in a time and place in which we continue to struggle for racial and gender equity.

At this point in her journey, QoQo is reclaiming her life and it begins with her health. Qo has been treating the breast cancer on her own holistically for several years. She is now considering doctor's' recommendations which include surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. She is also considering other forms of holistic care that are not covered by U.S. medical insurers. Like all of us, she has the everyday expenses of maintaining her home as well as all of the expenses that come with restoring her health like high-quality food, self-care needs, transportation to and from appointments, more.

In order to make the best choices for her health and move forward with her life, Qo needs the support of her community. A team of us have joined together to raise funds for QoQo as well as provide other forms of support you can read more about on the Caring Bridge site. The main priority now is raising $25,600 in order to provide a base of financial support that can hold QoQo for the next 6 months while she is on this journey of wellness and reclamation.

Please be as generous as you can be. Consider from your own heart if this was your sister, your mother, your daughter, your dearest friend, your co-worker, your neighbor, someone you have held dear and who has held you in more ways than you can know. Consider what you feel is reasonable for you to give within your means and then consider doubling it. We are in a season of giving, of acknowledging the abundance we have and sharing our blessings with others, knowing our generous acts will return to us many times over.

Financial contributions of any size, even the amount you might spend on a meal today, are welcome -- big and small, they all add up. If a financial contribution is not possible, send your love and blessings to QoQo. Other ways to support are included on the Caring Bridge site and please remember that in addition to any of those that you can offer, the financial donations to help us meet our $25,600 goal are the most important at this time. Thank you for considering this request and for your generosity!

With love and gratitude,

QoQo's Court (aka Qo's Support Team!)

QoQo's Breast Cancer Support Fund

This Go Fund Me is for Ann Percival and David Canteini. They are the salt of the earth people: you know--contra dance musicians; Ann teaches music, and David homesteads the house, makes maple syrup, teaches forestry.

Saturday in the early hours of Dec 3rd, they flipped their car on the way home from a gig. They flipped 3 times, and dragged along the guardrail. They walked away ALIVE!

However, Ann sustained a severe collarbone break that required surgery. Both David and Ann suffer terribly from shock and the trauma of the accident.

Ann comes home today, the 6th of December, and she desperately needs home help, as she has lost the use of her right hand, arm, and shoulder.

She also needs funds for medical expenses that aren't covered by insurance.

Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so so much for contributing to their return to health.

We reached the first goal of raising $50,000 for Maram! I have made the new goal $80,000 as she and her family are still very much in need of support.

Hello, my name is Andrea Groves from the US (in the midst of moving from Ohio to California) and I am managing this fundraiser to help support my friend Maram Asigale her father, brothers, and sister. They have been dealing with an increasingly impossible situation in Gaza and need our help to purchase necessities like food, medicine, and shelter, and we hope that enough additional funds can be saved to help them escape the country.

Thank you for considering making donations to Maram. Every little amount counts, but please donate as much as you are able. I will send every bit of the money you donate directly to Maram from my account via wire transfer, minus the necessary GoFundMe fees.
