Hi, I'm Harry, and I need your assistance. My home's foundation started to separate from my house, and it is not supporting properly on the southwest corner of my home. This foundation settling was not covered by insurance. I received bids to get it repaired, and the best solution came in at $10k+. My wife and I have sold off collectibles, a coin collection, and savings, and we managed to come up with $4,250. This will leave us about $6k short and dependent on predatory lending, as the interest rates available to me or my wife were all over 16%.
My wife, Melissa, and I have been back in Minneapolis, Minnesota, since 2015. We came back to Minnesota to assist Melissa's mother. During this time, we both worked to buy our home and help out when needed. In 2019, I was diagnosed with degenerative disks and could no longer perform maintenance work. Since then, I have mostly worked part-time, and this depleted both of our savings. During the pandemic, we assisted all my wife's elderly aunts and uncles, plus her parents. My neck gave out during this time period and required surgery. This setback was one of the hardest on us. I was able to get back to full-time retail work finally, but this was at about half my normal wages.
This is a hard ask for me. I have always tried to help others and often put their needs before mine, but now I am asking for any help possible to repair our home's foundation and give my wife and me that strong foundation we need to keep us above water and in a safe home.
Love and appreciate any and all help!!
Harry
