Despite these obstacles, Eve remains determined and resilient. She is currently working part-time and doing gig work to make ends meet. However, the loss of her full-time job and the impact of the discrimination have left her struggling to cover her rent.

<div><strong>Unbearable loss:</strong> Raja's brother Mahmoud lost his two young sons Amr (8 months) and Anas (3 years), who were killed in a bombing. Mahmoud is still alive, but Raja tragically lost her other brother, Ahmed, and his 4-year-old daughter, Mira, in another bombing. These are not the only family members they’ve lost, but these ones in particular have left deep wounds in Raja’s heart.

<div><strong>Home Destroyed:</strong> Raja and Khalil got married in 2012. They rented an apartment and saved their money for 10 years to buy an apartment in 2022. They did not even get to live in it as proud owners for a full year: after 10 months, it was bombed and the building was completely destroyed.

<div><strong>Struggles for Basic Needs:</strong> Flour, once a very expensive item at the market, is now extremely rare to find. The family has mostly sustained themselves on bread they baked themselves and canned foods. People, including Raja and Khalil, have recently began depending on bakeries for bread. It gets so overcrowded that there’s been multiple incidents of people being trampled to death. This is a danger that Raja and Khalil face daily in order to keep themselves and their children from succumbing to starvation. Water scarcity is another situation with vast health issues like Hepatitis, which this family personally struggled with badly a few months ago. It’s getting colder every day now, and blankets and winter clothes are extremely hard to find and very expensive to buy.

<div><strong>Destruction of Healthcare Infrastructure and Widespread Illness, Disease: </strong>Gaza is facing a catastrophic health crisis as bombings, bulldozers, and blockade have decimated its healthcare system. Hospitals are overwhelmed, lacking essential medicines, equipment, and electricity to treat patients. Clean water is scarce, leading to widespread waterborne diseases like Hepatitis, while malnutrition and food shortages have left children especially vulnerable to severe health complications. Families like Raja’s have battled life-threatening sickness again and again and again. Without immediate intervention and access to humanitarian aid, the health disaster will continue to claim countless lives.

<div><strong>Inhumane Living Conditions:</strong> Tent supplies have been very expensive, between $600-$800 and are vulnerable to rains and the cold. It’s common for tents to be flooded by heavy rains, ruining peoples possessions in the process. Luckily, they are renting what is basically a storage container that’s been converted to a single room. It’s still very cold, but it’s safer from the rain. Getting all of your clothes, bedding, and personal items wet from floods and rain is extremely difficult for people in Gaza to handle physically and emotionally.

<div>When I first started this GoFundMe, I never thought I’d actually be able to fight and have hope for myself again. Battling cancer is something life cannot prepare you for, and I was scared. I saw saw everything I worked so hard for—being a black trans woman— stripped away. The treatment messed with my hormones, my hair fell out, my skin changed. I could only see myself in a coffin, not living life. And because of my unique situation involving incarceration I didn’t have access to traditional medical help and SSI, so it was huge for me to reach out to a community online that doesn’t even know me in real life and receive so much love from them and from God. This help has kept me fighting until today. If you see my pictures, you’ll notice that I am looking better. This is not because I am any less sick with the cancer, but because I have chosen to live life and fight back! And you all have helped give me that strength.

<div>Everything that was donated to my GoFundMe so far has been used for my medical treatment at Northside Hospital. Now I’m at Emory, and I’m undergoing strenuous chemo and prescribed numerous medications. Finally, I have a team of doctors who understand my situation and who believe they can shrink the tumor enough to be able to remove it with surgery!

<div><strong>The hospital says if I can raise $60,000, they will cover the rest of the surgery expenses. And so I’m turning once again to my community and asking you not to give up on me. I want to be able to say I won, that I’m a winner. </strong>

<div>Right now I’m reaching out to a lot of different talk shows because I want to go on them and be a voice. I want to let people know what I went through, from being homeless, to being incarcerated, to being sick, to people accusing me of making it all up, to some days only having God and the power of God to keep me going. But if Mike Tyson can come back and fight when everybody says he’s too old and out of shape, then Tomorrow will continue to fight when the doctors told me I had 6 months to a year to live. Those six months are up and I’m still living and fighting.

<div>My goal is to raise money not only for my health.But to start my own out reach to help trans people with cancer. People have stopped donating and it's made me sad but I'm also thankful that I was able to pay some of my surgeries that I've had biopsies etc and I have a long journey ahead.

<div>This year, while I was homeless, doing survival sex work, and living in and out of hotels, I received the worst news of my life. In March of this year, I ended up going to the hospital because I had trouble breathing. My trans sister called me an uber even though I was scared to go. Turns out I had COVID-19.

<div>While in the hospital, they gave me a CT scan and the doctor pulled me to the side and told me that a cancer specialist wanted to talk to me. They told me that something didn’t look right and they wanted to run some more tests. After being in bed for weeks with COVID, and then getting better, I woke up one morning and my breast was as big as a cantaloupe, and it was hard. I didn’t know what to do, but eventually the pain was so bad that I drove myself to the hospital.

<div><strong>On July 1st, doctors told me that I had</strong> <strong>stage 3 inflammatory breast cancer.</strong>

<div>This type of cancer grows aggressively and rapidly - 80% faster than most cancers. It also has spread to my lymph nodes and my kidneys. 
</div>
<div>I have only been approved for my medication, but don’t have insurance.<strong>I already owe the hospital over $30,000. </strong>I need to have surgery as soon as possible. The doctor has informed me that time is of the essence. The doctors said I need an emergency surgery to remove the cancer from my kidneys.

<div>I want to be an advocate for the girls to get checked, to get mammograms. They don’t know what their bodies are going through. I know I didn’t. I didn’t feel anything and then one day I woke up and had cancer. I am now the living witness of what can happen to us. If I can influence girls to go get tested and take care of themselves, then I would die happy. If there’s anything left over, I want to pay it forward to other Trans folks who are living with cancer and bring awareness to the community--especially regarding silicone injections.

<div>My name is Tomorrow Valentino. I just turned 50 years old. I got my name when I was in prison. They put a guy in the hole with me. He had a bunch of tattoos, and turns out he was a Blood. He asked me my name. I told him how growing up, they would call me China because of my eyes (I’m Jamaican). He told me that he always wanted to name his daughter Tomorrow, and decided to name me that instead. I was looking out the window and saw the sun shining. I looked up at the sky and realized that the name was mine. No matter what happens in my life, there was always a “tomorrow” for me. Even with what I’m going through right now, I know there will be a tomorrow.

<div>I left my parents’ house at 17 years old. My parents are from Jamaica. They did not understand my “lifestyle,” not at first. When I looked in the mirror, even before the breasts, I knew who I was. My mom was like, “If you don’t cut your hair, you have to get out of my house, I know I only had boys.” So I packed my stuff and left. I didn’t finish school and ended up on the streets and homeless. I had to hustle to survive, scamming, stealing. I ended up being in and out of prison. I grew up on the streets. It set me back in my transition and goals. If my parents had accepted me when I was young, I could have been anything I wanted to be.

<div>I’ve never been that type of person who asks for help, because I’ve always done things by myself.
</div>

<div>Growing up a Black transgender female in the 90s, we bought our hormones from the girls who already had them. We had to pay like $100 a bottle for black market hormones. There was also an underground surgery market for silicone injections. That’s what I got – aka SEAL. I got it in my breasts, hips, butt, and cheeks. What they didn’t tell us, is the effects it could have on your body. In my case, it was injected in the wrong place, and years later it all moved to one side of my breast, which caused the silicone to create a mass and triggered the cancer.

<div>I remember when I met Verna, who did my injections. She had this huge house. When I went in, she was just studying me. When she finished my face, I was so pretty. I had high cheekbones, a pointy chin. People would look at me and say I’m striking. After that feeling of euphoria, it became addictive, it made me able to pass--or look more and more like a woman. I simply wanted to be able to fit into society, fall in love, get the house and white picket fence. I wanted to recreate myself. I wanted to forget who my mother had and be the woman I wanted to be. I created a whole new life for myself. Unfortunately, I was forced to choose between myself and my family. My family members would call me a “faggot.” Luckily, more recently and especially since the cancer, I've had my family start to support and rally behind me. They don't have much money, but they are praying for me and are they're trying. They finally say I love you... and I haven't heard that since I was a kid.

<div>I really want people to know, our surgeries and injections are not cosmetic, they are needed for us to feel like who we are. You can’t beat it out of your kids. Is it an act of God? I don’t know, but I do know there is a greater purpose for us [trans] people. If we weren’t here there would be something missing.

<div>All I ever wanted was to be a woman. I struggled my whole life. When I look in the mirror, this is all I want to be and can be. Whether I live through this or whether I die, I just want to be remembered as Tomorrow. Although I couldn’t do everything I wanted to do, I Iived my best life as a woman.

<div>3. There's also this cross that I saw that I promised myself for my birthday which is ($2,800) my goal was to buy it, take it to my pastor, have him pray over it, and then to get baptized--that was my goal for my birthday.

<div>4. Lastly, one of my lifelong wishes is to put together a documentary about my [trans] community--so the world can see and hear our stories, know our truths. I want to leave my legacy behind and pay it forward.

<div>1/22/22 today oncologist called and told me that they're putting me on chemo with radiation at the same time chemo was so hard on my body to think I'm going to be on chemo and radiation at one time back to back five days a week then I found out I have to leave THC the housing program so now I'm back to being homeless and have to find some place to go with my two dogs. <div>Hi, I'm Noah Grigni, a trans artist and community worker in need of support. For the past three years, I have been working on a community empowerment project, essentially for free. I am burnt out, financially drained, emotionally exhausted, and finally ready to ask for help.
</div>

<div>About my project: since 2019, I have been working on my exhibition<em> </em><a href="https://www.noahgrigni.com/transdreams" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Protect Trans Dreams</a>, currently on display at <a href="https://bostonchildrensmuseum.org/exhibits-programs/exhibits/gallery" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Boston Children's Museum</a>. Protect Trans Dreams is a community-based art project celebrating trans joy, created in collaboration with local trans kids and their families. The show is up until July 24th -- if you're in Boston, go see it! You can see the paintings, and read more about the project, <a href="https://noahgrigni.com/transdreams" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>. This work, like all of my work, is rooted in my burning desire to provide trans kids in my community with the resources and representation that I lacked growing up. This project means so much to me, and I want to continue it, but I need your help.

<div>Why I'm fundraising: the museum was able to offer me a small stipend for this show, but it does not begin to cover the costs of organizing the project over the past three years, meeting with the families, creating the paintings, and traveling to and from Boston. I have lost a lot of money doing this, and I do not hope to make it back or break even, I just want to get back on my feet. I lost my apartment and had to move out of Boston last year, as a result of working for free for so long. I am now living in Georgia with my parents -- and while I love them a lot, I would really like to be independent again. <br /><br />I have poured my heart into this work, and really suffered financially for it. I am now in a position where I cannot afford to return to Boston at the end of the summer to deinstall the show. I can take responsibility for my own decisions, for choosing to pursue this work, knowing that this might happen. And, I can humbly ask my community for support.

<div>If I raise $1000, I can return to Boston at the end of July to deinstall the show, and transport the paintings to the families. (The paintings are theirs to keep!) This is the bare minimum to finish the project.

<div>If I raise $2000, I can visit Boston in June and organize a Pride event around the show, celebrating trans kids and their families! I'd also like to host an art workshop for trans adults, focusing on reclaiming childhood dreams.

<div>If I raise $3000... I can start thinking about continuing this project beyond Boston. I would love to do this again my hometown, Atlanta, with a new group of kids. Disclaimer: I have a lot of other work to finish first, so it would take me a while! The initial work of organizing another show would include applying for grants, reaching out to local museums and galleries, and connecting with local trans families.<br /><br />My goal is $5000, which would allow me to get back on my feet, feel like a person again, and dedicate substantial time to organizing another Protect Trans Dreams show in Atlanta. I really believe this work matters, and I want to do it again -- just not for free this time. If it's something my community wants, then it's something I want to do.

In January 2020 Ash was diagnosed with AML leukemia completely out of the blue. From symptoms to leukemia ward within a month. It has been a whirlwind and currently we are both on unpaid leave from work! We don't know yet how much more we'll have to pay in medical bills or if he will need a stem cell transplant, but the doctor says the latter is likely. <br /><br />Ash is a vet tech and active artist in the queer community of Atlanta.
