<div>Hello! We are doing a fundraiser for Paperslip to raise funds for some much needed technology upgrades such as new computer equipment which will help to keep Paperslip going. As well we have yearly hosting fees and conference fees to cover, which we have paid out of pocket since 2020. Paperslip.org is a site by and primarily for KSS (Korea Social Service) Adoptees, but has expanded over time to include information relevant to ALL Korean Adoptees. Since its founding in 2020, Paperslip.org has reached (update) 64,000 people all over the world. We need your help to keep going! Your contribution is greatly appreciated as the vast majority of our work is volunteer based. Our primary focus is providing FREE help for KSS Adoptees and providing self-serve, FREE information for Korean Adoptees from ANY Korean Adoption Agency. Since 2021, there have been around (update) *40 reunions of KSS Adoptees whom we have advised in the birth family search process. Please help us to continue to support the KSS Adoptee community in the US, Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland - and ALL Korean Adoptees around the world!

 Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 The McGowan family needs our love and support now more than ever.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 On Tuesday, while the family was driving Ava to college, Jeff and Riley were involved in a devastating car accident. Tragically, Riley did not survive.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Jeff has been transported to Harborview Medical Center and is receiving medical care for his injuries. During this unimaginable time, Ann, Jeff, Ava, and Liam are facing a heartbreak no family should ever have to endure.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 We are asking our community to come together and surround the McGowan family with love, prayers, and support as they navigate the days ahead. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping the McGowan family in your thoughts. Every act of kindness, every prayer, and every message of love means more than you know.

<div>
 Thank you for helping us support the McGowan family during this unimaginable time. ❤️

<div>Today I was in Walmart and asked a stranger if they’d help buy me food because I hadn’t eaten all day. I met the most amazing lady, a true angel named Lani. Lani immediately helped me and I then revealed the the food was for her. Before even looking into the box, Lani started to tear up. Then, when she saw it was a $1,000 she burst into tears. Lani shared with me that her husband was sick and in the hospital with cancer and that he was the main one paying the bills. She works at Dollar Tree but unfortunately her income is not enough for her car payment and her rent with her husband unable to provide income. When I asked if she was afraid she would get evicted she broke down crying again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Let’s come together and help this angel during this incredible heartache and overcome the difficulty she is facing right now.

<div>UPDATE #2: Well, here it is... drum roll, please. Kristin and I received the final bill for the bank remediation from the contractor. I've updated the goal to reflect that bill.
</div>
<div>And, GUESS WHAT?!! While the contractor gave us a ballpark estimate of somewhere between 50K and 75K, the actual invoice is for $26, 416.04!! A much, much lower amount to our significant relief!!
</div>
<div>AND, GUESS WHAT ELSE? Our fundraiser total to-date came in at 26,400! How can that be??? $16.04 difference? You all have helped us cover the full invoice!! Coincidence? Or a cosmic blessing? I'm going with the latter. You are a beautiful group of humans and we are so deeply touched that I, for one, am wandering around in a blissful daze about it all. A disastrous experience could have been so much worse - your love and generosity is nothing short of brilliant!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>UPDATE #1: Our goal is within striking distance! WE'VE RAISED ALMOST 90% OF OUR GOAL. So grateful to the many who have shown us such generous emotional and financial support. We are feeling the love! Just one more nudge to see if we can tip it one dime over the top to $25,000.10 (I know, that's weird, but I like dimes!) If you can help and share, wonderful, and speaking of full, our hearts are for all the love you've shown. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hello good humans,
</div>
<div>This is hard to write. My wife Kristin and I just experienced what has been described as a once-in-a-lifetime destructive flood that broke all previous records by a huge margin. It has obliterated much of our property and came dangerously close to washing away our home's foundation. River flooding is something we've seen in the past but never to this unprecedented extent and never damaging to property or home. Our home was built in the early 80s, well away from the river's recorded highest point and considered safe and not in a FEMA-designated flood zone. I deeply respect Mother Nature and bought flood insurance despite the shoulder shrug from my insurance rep when I inquired about it. If our home had toppled into the river, rather than being "just" dangerously close to doing so, that coverage would have helped. As it is, it does not cover the repair needed to stabilize the riverbank and protect our home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I've raised funds for other causes, especially for TransFamilies.org, the organization I founded and led to support families who have gender-diverse children. It is much harder to ask for support when it affects us personally - much, much harder. Many have encouraged - even insisted that I provide a way for others to help us in this time of need. I'm so grateful and humbled by this outpouring of concern that began within HOURS of this exponentially greater river flooding.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kristin and I are counting our blessings. No loss of life, home and belongings are intact, and our cat Burton (himself a powerhouse fundraiser for TransFamilies!) seems unfazed by it all. Our neighbors are being very supportive and we hope to combine our efforts to shore up our shared stretch of riverbank. We've been buoyed by their optimism.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The funds we raise will go to stabilizing our river bank with hefty boulders and rocks. While we will miss our yard - a regular pathway for neighborhood bear, deer, and porcupine - we are grateful for what we still have. Your help in our time of need will be deeply meaningful. Our gratitude is plentiful. We welcome your words of encouragement and the love you all have shown us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>p.s. The usual flooding is called a<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLCJYQoPf50" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> jokuhlaup</a> and is something that is known and prepared for. This one was magnified in impact, we've been told, by a huge glacial calving that made the water level and pressure so severe. You can <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/time-lapse-video-shows-suicide-basin-waters-rise-before-massive-flooding-1818342" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">see more here</a>. <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/CatastrophicFailure/comments/15k3fmp/mendenhall_river_flood_ak_82023_timelapse_of_6/?rdt=41342" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Time lapse video here</a> shows the rapid erosion (6 hours, I believe) of our neighbor's place.

<font color="#333333">howdy yall! thank you so much for viewing my gofundme! my name is Keyboard (he/him) :-)<br />im a 22 year old trans man living in seattle, and i was recently diagnosed with stage 3 laryngeal cancer. funny enough, its extremely rare for laryngeal cancers to appear in people my age, and as im sure you can imagine, this has turned my life upside down. im set to have at least 4 surgeries in the span of a month, ive had a feeding tube placed in me, and soon i'll be getting a port (a small metal device placed under the skin) for chemo, my wisdom teeth have to be removed before i start radiation bc the blood vessels in my jaw are going to be permanently damaged bc of, you guessed it, the radiation! so they have to come out Now because trying to remove them later will result in dead bone that cant heal in my jaw, and on top of all of this both me AND my mother need to move out of our respective apartments (mine in seattle, hers in philadelphia) so we can be together during treatment. i've already had to quit my job and wont be able to work for at least half a year. please, any support is more than appreciated, even just a dollar. this money will primarily go to moving costs in two states, flights, hospital bills, groceries, and medicine costs. thank you so much for viewing my gofundme, and for any and all support! be well</font>

Please Help Colton Fire Dept Fix Equipment

On Monday, April 23, our dear friends <strong>Scott and Jennifer Owen</strong>, along with six of their seven wonderful children, were in a horrible car accident on the way home from a weekend camping trip.  <strong>Scott</strong> — a kind, gentle devoted husband and father — died early Tuesday morning. <strong>Jennifer</strong> — the most incredible, faithful, loving wife and mother — succumbed to her injuries and was reunited in Heaven with her beloved early Thursday morning.<br /><br />Their daughter <strong>Michaela</strong> (15) remains in critical condition at a Dallas hospital.  Their son <strong>Dalton</strong> (10) also remains in critical condition in the room next to his big sister. <br /><br /><strong>Mitchell</strong> (13), <strong>Alysa</strong> (11), <strong>Samantha</strong> (7) and <strong>Liam</strong> (5) miraculously survived the crash with broken bones, concussions, cuts and bruises. They are being cared for by all of us who adored their parents. <br /><br /><strong>Ethan</strong> (23), the eldest son, was not in the car but now carries the burden of hourly decisions that must be made regarding his two critically injured siblings and the other surviving four. He is handling all of these breathtaking tasks with maturity and grace. <br /><br />Jen was precious to me, and I miss her desperately. It is my heartbreaking privilege to set up<strong> this tribute</strong> <strong>in honor of our dear friends</strong>. These funds will be used for burial costs and for children's immediate needs. <br /><br />What is left will be rolled into <strong>a long-term trust</strong> that is currently being established for the Owen children. It will be managed by a third-party. <br /><br />Jen and Scott loved the Lord with all their hearts. They <strong>served others</strong> even while they themselves were in need. Jen took care of her father and grandmother, all while homeschooling her children and loving her friends deeply. <br /><br />This is the least we can do to honor their legacy, and to <strong>serve their family back.</strong> <br /><br />---<br /><br /><strong>"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." - Psalm 30:5</strong>
