His courage and sacrifice stand as a profound link between Hungary and the United States, and we want his legacy visible and remembered where he fell. A bronze equestrian statue will create a lasting place of memory, education, and friendship for generations to come.

<div>The American Hungarian Federation is proud to support the effort to build a permanent statue honoring Colonel Michael Kováts de Fabriczy, the Hungarian cavalry officer whose military service and sacrifice during the American Revolution helped establish the traditions of the United States Cavalry.
</div>
<div>In furtherance of this effort, the AHF participated in the official S.C. 250 commemorations in Charleston, South Carolina. This included delivering a public speech on the life and military service of Colonel Michael Kováts during the December 14, 2025 Victory Day commemoration.
</div>
<div>The delegation also visited the historic Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, where a plaque commemorates Colonel Kováts, and The Citadel to view the Colonel Kováts Memorial, which was dedicated by the American Hungarian Federation in 1955.

Honor Colonel Michael Kováts in Charleston

Austin New is a freshman at FGCU  in Ft. Myers, Florida studying Business and Marketing. He grew up in Plant City, FL where his love of fishing began at a very young age.  Austin is a loving, caring, and outgoing person.  On January 31st, at the start of his second semester, he fell from the sixth story of a campus parking garage. Austin suffered serious injuries and is in the ICU at Lee County Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, Florida. Austin suffered serious injuries to his feet, ankles, pelvis and back.  Austin miraculously survived. <br /><br />Austin and his family need our help.<br /><br />Austin’s parents, Heather and Scott, rushed to his side and have been there with him since they got the call no parent ever wants to get. With all their attention on Austin’s survival and recovery, Heather and Scott are both losing income, incurring hotel and food expenses, and racking up huge medical bills they don’t know if they will be able to pay. All Austin’s parents want to do is get Austin through this; all we want to do is help this family along this long road to recovery. <br /><br />Austin will remain in the hospital until all of his surgeries are complete. Once complete, his recovery at home could take 6 months or more. Austin will be wheelchair-bound while recovering and the family will need to make the home wheelchair accessible. <br /><br />Please send many prayers and any donations to help Austin. His family is grateful for any amount of money you can contribute, no amount is too small, to make Austin good as new.

Austin's Recovery

Emily Acosta tragically passed away after a car accident that took place on February 20, 2019.  Everyone who was blessed to know Emily saw her as a positive spirit.  She was an energetic woman with a big heart and an even bigger smile.  She was a friend to everyone.  She had just concluded her junior season playing for Ave Maria University's women's basketball team, and was looking forward to improving for next season.  During her sophomore year, she displayed her athletic ability by joining the softball program for a season as well.  She was a spunky, beautiful soul that was gifted with a great sense of humor and wit.  It was evident how much Emily loved life through her spirit on the basketball court and when she was around her many friends.  The love that she possessed for those around her will be missed for the rest of our days.  As we mourn her and try to understand the events that have taken place, we wish to support her family, especially her lovely parents, as they endure these troubling times.  This fund will be used to handle the funeral service expenses for her family.<br /><br />Fly high 23!<br /><br />-Teammates, Friends, &amp; Family of Emily Acosta
