My name is Pam, and I’m helping to create this GoFundMe for my much older (ok, well only 11 months older!) uncle Henry Thompson. Most of our mutual friends know him by his childhood nickname, “Bo” He does have a Facebook page (that I’ll tag); however, he’s even less tech-savvy than me and hasn’t logged into it in several years. So, knowing he and I share so many mutual friends, I thought me sharing this would be a good way to patch those connections. To catch you up, shortly after his mom passed away 30 years ago, he moved from Carter Lake to Arizona, in an attempt for a fresh start. He met his wife, Israel, and started a family and new life. (Together they share two of the most handsome boys ever, no surprise there!) Fast forward to present times. He has been given a stage 4, terminal cancer diagnosis. The cancer is in his soft tissue, lymph nodes, and bone. We don’t yet have the full scope of things or a timeline. He’s in the midst of a ton of appointments, tests, labs, and procedures. He desperately needs the love, support, and encouragement of his family and friends. As you can imagine, this time is emotional, scary, painful, frustrating, and exhausting. He is faced with a ton of appointments, decisions, downtime, and is needing help both physically and financially. He also has hopes of being able to make a trip back home to see those of you that he still considers some of his best, lifelong friends. I would love to see that dream of his come true. Although he and his wife separated some time ago, she remains forever compassionate and supportive of him and is doing her best to help manage everything, but they could truly use help. If you are in the position and feel led to help, he and his family would be so appreciative. I’m also including his own words here- Hello everybody, My name is Henry Thompson. Some of you knew me as "Bo Thompson." I've created this GoFundMe, well, my wonderful niece created this, to ask for help. I've been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in my jawbone, mouth, and my lymph nodes in my neck. It is an aggressive and ugly form of squamous cell carcinoma. It is painful as all get out and frightening, to say the least. My family and friends have been so supportive and kind! That being said, I need your help. I know times are tough. I ask you from the bottom of my heart for any help you are willing and able to give. If it is thoughts and prayers that you can give, I truly appreciate them, I really do. I am praying that through the surgery mentioned, chemo, and radiation, they will be able to perform the surgery to reconstruct my jaw with bone from my leg and buy more time. I have a PET scan scheduled that will determine if the cancer has spread too much for the treatment plan. Sadly, if that is the case, the countdown clock will start sooner rather than later. That's pretty much where I am at right now. I thank you for even coming to this website to see how I am and wish you well.
