<div>We are reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for support for Barry Minton during an incredibly difficult time.
</div>
<div>Karen Minton was a loving wife, family member, and friend whose kindness touched so many lives. Her passing has left a deep void, and as Barry navigates this overwhelming grief, he is also facing an unexpected financial burden. The cost of Karen’s funeral and final arrangements has far exceeded what he was prepared for, and it’s more than he can manage alone.
</div>
<div>During moments like this, no one should have to carry such weight by themselves. We’re asking for any help you can give—whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply keeping Barry in your thoughts and prayers. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward easing the financial strain and allowing Barry the space to grieve without added stress.
</div>
<div>Karen meant so much to so many, and this is a chance for us to come together and support the person who meant the most to her.
</div>
<div>Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this heartbreaking time.
</div>

Support Barry After Karen’s Passing

<div>Hello ,

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>We went hit by supercell storm in Huntsville Alabama.  We are both in our 60s and Scot is disabled from not only a metal rod in his back , but also he is a diabetic who has suffered painfully from Chrons since childhood.  It was just a few years, we thought he may never walk .. from lymphatic cancer .  He had 22 cancerous lymph nodes from his throat and was undergoing radiation treatments when we started seeing one another just a few years ago .
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Truly one of the happiest days in my life was at the oncologist with him when she said he was cancer free and every check up since .
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It’s been an uphill battle for him every day since and we have worked SO HARD to finally move to Huntsville, Alabama.. a community we both grew up together.. him being just a few years older than I back in high school in our hometown of Fayetteville, Tennessee.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our love story helped build his newest and largest studio .. where we have the greatest friends, his clients.. the people we love who are now “ homeless “ for a place to rehearse while we TRY to repair the damage from this super cell storm which has left broken limbs , our neighbors huge 300 year old tree spread across our yard , drive.. broken power lines , broken poles .. broken masthead .. so NO power for his studio or US . No hot water .
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div> I’m a veteran teacher who literally has gotten sick from this mess ; a week later and we still don’t have electricity after shelling out thousands to move trees and debris from our driveway to EVEN get out of our home !
</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Yes - we plan on changing insurance company as soon as this is settled .

</div>

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our insurance company IS NOT helping since their adjuster claims we can fix it for less than $6700 ; the deductible since it’s an “ act of God “ .
</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>As you know, my health had taken a hit the last 2 years and yes, I’m good now but medical bills aren’t cheap .
</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div><strong><br /></strong>

</div>

<div><strong>I know some of you don’t want to donate to a go fund me - you can donate directly to the electrician  or to one of us so we can pay them .  </strong>

</div>

<li>I know we are living in tough times. Thanks for your consideration. Cyndi and Scot

Need help from extensive Storms . TY

<div>My birthday is April 12th, unfortunately the biggest fundraiser I need right now is for me. I had a health scare in February that required an ER and a lot of testing. Unfortunately BCBS hasn't covered a lot. Bills are stacking amongst regular bills as well as tax time. Those who contribute and contact me I will dig thru my archives of collectables including music gear &amp; will give something back in return. Much love T

<div>Our beloved friend, Roger Davis, has won his race and left this world for his Heavenly home. Roger represented the very best of us. He had such a love for his family, friends, church and of course the VOLS. Many people got to hear his voice on several occasions on the multiple Volunteer radio shows, but those close to him know his passion and love for Jesus. He was a faithful and vital part of the First Apostolic Church of Knoxville. He sat on the front row of every service and made it a priority to greet you with a hug. Roger made an impact on those he met with his kindness and his pureness. This fund is to help his family with the expenses that come along with this difficult and very untimely passing.
</div>
<div>Roger, you will be sorely missed. I pray you know how much you were loved!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Roger's celebration of life details will be posted here once the family has solidified arrangements. If you are not able to donate, please consider attending his celebration of life and show his family how much he was loved!

<div>Hello, my name is Steve and I'm trying to raise funds for a dear friend who is underinsured and just had 4 bypasses. He is still in hospital with mounting expenses. I am trying to raise $1500 for him.

<div>In August 2020, Daryl Mills was diagnosed with Covid-19. Eventually, he was admitted to the local hospital in Fayetteville, Tennessee, with Covid pneumonia. While in the hospital, Daryl's blood was tested, and it was discovered many of his blood counts were abnormal. After recovering from Covid, he followed-up with his local doctor -- and then with a nearby hematologist -- for further blood testing.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>After extensive testing, it was discovered Daryl had a very rare form of blood cancer called myelo-fibrosis. Often myelo-fibrosis is not discovered until it is too late to treat, but the cancer was diagnosed early enough in Daryl for treatment to be given. The only effective treatment known for myelo-fibrosis is a stem-cell transplant -- a very impactful procedure. Since this seemed to be the best (and only) course of action, a matching unrelated-donor was found, and Daryl went through a successful stem-cell transplant at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute in Nashville on July 21, 2021.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>Recovery from the stem-cell transplant was grueling and difficult -- Daryl lost 50 pounds of weight and muscle mass! But after several months of recovery in Nashville, Daryl was sent home -- with a long road of recovery ahead. He seemed to be slowly regaining strength and energy. However, after almost a year post-transplant, the doctors detected some Graft vs. Host Disease (GVHD) in his system. To counteract the GVHD, they started him on a very strong medicine, called Jakifi.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>After a short time on Jakifi, Daryl began showing new and strange symptoms. He started to lose his eyesight, and he was even hallucinating at times! His personality was also changing -- sometimes he acted "high" or childish or extra silly. He was obviously not his normal self, and it all seemed to be getting progressively worse. After repeatedly contacting the doctors about his condition, the doctors decided to bring him back to Sarah Cannon hospital in Nashville to try and figure out what was happening.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>Shortly after arriving in Nashville, Daryl's condition declined even more. He started sleeping almost continuously. Occasionally he would awaken, answer a few questions, go to the bathroom, and go right back to sleep. Eventually, he was barely waking up at all. After taking him off his medicines and running many tests, the doctors at Sarah Cannon were baffled. Within two weeks, they had seemed to run out of ideas. They even called in Palliative Care to "keep him comfortable and happy." Basically, they had given up!

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>The family was not ready to give up so quickly, and they quickly pushed to have Daryl transferred to Vanderbilt Hospital. Upon being checked into the ER at Vanderbilt (early on October 15, 2022), Daryl awakened for a short time, answered some questions with nods and head-shakes, and even told his daughter "I love you" (twice). However, after some more moments of clarity, he soon drifted back to sleep.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>The care he has received at Vanderbilt has been absolutely amazing! They have had teams of doctors (Transplant team, Infectious Disease team, Neuro Team...) working around-the-clock on his case. These teams are in constant communication with one another to share information and to determine the best course of action. The Vanderbilt staff is very supportive of the family as well.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>After much examination and discussion, the Vanderbilt doctors believe when Daryl was given the Jakfiki to treat the GVHD, the drug lowered his immune system severely, and this allowed an "opportunistic virus" (possibly PML) to move in and attack his brain. Another theory is that his problems are caused by his own Autoimmune system attacking itself for some reason. A brain biopsy could be performed that would provide much-needed information -- but this procedure is risky and will not likely be done.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>And that is where Daryl's situation currently stands. He is still being tested, probed, poked, observed, fed (through a feeding tube in his stomach), and cared for at one of the best hospitals in the world! Many people have been praying for Daryl and his family -- and the family says, "Please keep praying!"

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>You may be thinking to yourself, "How else can I help Daryl and his family? I want to do something!" Here's something you can do...

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>Some friends have put together a GoFundMe account to help Daryl and his family take care of some of the expenses that have been incurred during his time at the hospital(s) in Nashville. Your gift can help this family during their time of need!

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>But even if you choose not to give, or are not able to give, please pray that Daryl be restored to health soon and brought back home!

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div> Thanks for your love and support!<br />
