What they care about

Detroit/Highland Park artist building Stamps & Strains, a pop-up art therapy tent where kids and neighbors can create, heal, and feel safe.

This matters to me because I’ve seen how a safe creative space can help kids speak, heal, and feel less alone. This tent lets me bring that magic back: art, safety, and hope for my community.

I am building a creative placemaking art tent in Highland Park/Detroit — a safe, beautiful, immersive space where neighborhood youth, families, and residents can gather, make art, heal, ask questions, and experience beauty right on the block. After my art therapy supplies were stolen, I decided not just to rebuild, but to build bigger. This project will transform my front lawn into a welcoming community art space with a heavy-duty tent, solar-powered lighting, tables, chairs, rugs, flooring, fabric decor, and art supplies. This is more than a tent. It is a neighborhood sanctuary for creativity, connection, and care. Every donation helps create a space where children and community members can step into imagination, safety, healing, and possibility.
