Rebecca is raising this fundraiser for a young couple and their disabled 3-year-old son, who is facing enormous challenges at such a young age. Their little boy is immobilized and nonverbal, and everyday needs that many families take for granted require specialized support. To get him safely to and from preschool, he needs a special car seat that can properly support his body, along with a specially designed wheelchair for daily transportation. These are not optional items for this family, but essential tools that help their child travel safely and participate in daily life. On top of the cost of this equipment, his parents are also paying out of pocket for important medical care, including seizure medication and doctor visits. Because their son was not born in the United States, he does not qualify for Medicaid, leaving this young family to carry a heavy financial burden on their own.
