<div>Fundraiser for Cameron Grant’s Legacy
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Cameron Grant lived a vibrant, multi-faceted life over 58 incredible years. To some, he was a childhood friend, a kid soprano in Europe, a first crush, or a lifelong companion. In his younger days, you might have shared adventures on winding highways in a camper van, snuck into the clubs where he sang, or found yourself on his couch—or even in his closet—on Grant Street! As an adult, he was the life of late nights and creative pursuits, whether standing in line at Babalu, sharing a laugh with friends at Main Street, or recording music in his home studio. He also gave his heart to his church community, leading music on Sunday mornings and connecting deeply with those around him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Cameron’s journey took a profound turn in 2009 when he faced end-stage liver disease. What began as a hopeless diagnosis transformed into a story of resilience and miracles. With the support of his true love Caitlyn , friends, and medical teams, Cam embraced sobriety, faced high-stakes treatments, and eventually found himself on the liver transplant list. Every step forward was a triumph, as he rediscovered purpose in fatherhood, sobriety, and meaningful connection.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Alas, after a series of serious medical complications and infections this year, he was admitted to hospital in Saskatoon.
</div>
<div>The transplant team were ready to get him on the top of
</div>
<div>the transplant list as soon the infection was resolved. But it didn’t resolve. His organs started to fail, and even then the team at RUH supporting his wishes wouldn’t surrender hope. He was placed on life support to bridge the potential for transplant to the moment his body fought off the bacteria.
</div>
<div>On Thursday December 11th it was determined that the antibiotics had taken too much of a toll on the other organs in his body, and they had to conclude he was not a candidate for a new liver.
</div>
<div>His body took its last breath surrounded by family and hospital staff that loved him. We were all moved by his strength and faith. He died believing new life was on the horizon and as all prayers, was answered, just not as we expected.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While his health journey was long and challenging, Cam’s life was filled with love, laughter, and moments of pure joy with his 2 beautiful daughters, Gwendolyn, and Avery. He inspired those around him with his courage and ability to find light even in difficult times. His legacy is one of music, family, resilience, and hope.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are creating this fundraiser to honour Cameron Grant’s life and to support his precious family as they navigate the path forward. Contributions will help preserve his legacy, support his children, and fund initiatives close to his heart. Your generosity will ensure that Cam’s love and spirit continue to shine for years to come.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for helping us celebrate a life well-lived and for continuing the story of hope that Cameron so beautifully began.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One love!

Fund Raising in Memory of Cameron Grant

<div>Our hearts are broken as we share the devastating loss of our brilliant, beautiful Rose, who leaves behind her greatest love, her 7-year-old son, Sparrow.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now he faces life without his mom, and while nothing can take away his profound loss, we can come together to surround him with the care, security, and opportunities Rose so deeply wanted for him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This fund will go directly toward Sparrow’s future—his education, activities, and whatever he may need that will help him grow up with stability and support. Our shared hope is to give him a foundation built on love, community, and belonging.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sparrow is a bright, tender-hearted boy who deserves to feel the strength of all of us behind him. By contributing, you are helping to ensure that his future is full of possibility, even in the face of heartbreak.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Any donation, big or small, will make a lasting difference. If you aren’t able to give, we ask that you share this page so others who loved Rosemary, or who want to stand with Sparrow, can join us in lifting him up.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Together, as a community, we can help carry Sparrow forward with love.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing up for Sparrow during this impossibly difficult time.

Rallying Around Sparrow After the Loss of His Mom

<div>
</div>

<div>On early Sunday morning, Sept 26, 2021, we lost a dear friend. Kelli Chan, age 48 suffered from a brain aneurysm around 1:30am. She was with her boyfriend at the time when she voiced that she felt a severe headache. When he returned from grabbing her a glass of water, she was unconscious. When the paramedics arrived, she was already in cardiac arrest. They were able to revive her, however, her brain had suffered too much trauma and the doctor declared that she had already lost major brain activity and without the assistance of life support, she will not make it. Her family supports her final decision in fulfilling her dream of donating her organs to those who need them.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Kelli was a very honest person who radiated enthusiasm and warmth into the lives of others. She was generous, full of integrity, and was extremely self-sacrificing. She could never hurt an animal, like how she could never hurt another human being. She had so much love to give and was always there to help with an open mind and heart.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>It wasn’t really a secret that she had major struggles in business and in finance. Despite all the obstacles life threw at her she always remained dedicated and positive. As a single mother, she had many unfulfilled hopes and dreams for her son who recently turned twelve. Kelli has vocalized how she felt bad for her son as they have been through many rough situations together, just them two.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>She was a talented hairstylist who worked extremely hard and was determined to provide but she oftentimes fell short financially. Despite her life struggles she always presented herself in a cheery and put-together way, but as good friends, we always knew she silently suffered from anxiety and was oftentimes burdened with negative thoughts.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Tragically, three days leading up to the unfortunate event, there was a major break-in in her home while Kelli and her son were still in the house. All their valuables were taken, including her vehicle. The robber was able to sneak into her and her son’s bedrooms while they were still asleep and took whatever valuables he could find. Thankfully, no physical harm was done to Kelli or her son. However, the day after she felt violated and sick to her stomach. She was dealing with a lot of stress already from her business but the robbery caused her already vulnerable state to skyrocket.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>The world has lost an angel in a fragile and tragic time. We are here in hopes to raise funds to contribute to the cost of her funeral, but mostly to fulfill some hopes and dreams she may have for her young son. We encourage and wish for him to carry on with his life to its optimal potential despite all the struggles he may face due to the aftermath of losing his mother and best friend. Your contribution will greatly be appreciated as it will go directly to providing him with child counseling and other necessities that will aid him during these difficult times and more.
</div>

<div><br />About me (The organizer):<br />Hello, my name is Shannon Nguyen and I'm a very good friend of Kelli Chan for many years.  I'm hosting this fundraiser to raise funds that will directly contribute to Kelli's funeral as well as to help her son Sebastien with necessary expenses such as counseling and other daily necessities to help get him through this hard time. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be collected and handed directly to the beneficiary who is Kelli's sister Eileen Chan and her son, Sebastien Sawitzki. With the approval of Kelli's sister Eileen, I will be responsible for withdrawing the funds on their behalf and deliver the money to them outside of GoFundMe. Thank you for your generous contribution. I feel very bless and grateful to be helping with this fundraiser.  Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me at [email redacted]<br /><br /><br />

R.I.P. Kelli Chan - support for her son

<div>Hello,
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>We have set up this Go fund me to help Julie recover. On April 20 Julie suffered a sudden stroke while alone at the salon. Amazingly one of the stylist's had returned for his lunch bag and due to his diligence in recognizing something was wrong he called for help and emergency services found Julie inside. Without this quick action we would have surely lost an amazing person.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Julie is currently in the hospital and working hard to recover so that she can return to the salon she works so hard to run. We are hopeful that with rehab she can regain the use of her left side and return to the salon and clients she dearly loves. Unfortunately the road to recovery will not be quick, and many struggles ahead. Adding to this there are medical costs to come and equipment that will be needed to help her function.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>I'll admit we don't know how much to ask for, we don't even have a full picture of the costs ahead. Family and friends are working to assist with costs but every bit helps. Below is some of the things we see coming up in the next few months that the money would help with:
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>- Medical equipment and rehab (canes, walkers, railings, anything needed to accelerate the rehab).
</div>

<div>- costs of living as she is unable to work, although she is a business owner her main income was still from hair styling. (car payments, rent, insurance, utilities, food and any other basic living needs)
</div>

<div>- living situation as she will now need an easy to access living space and support. (possible move, change in facilities)
</div>

<div>- Headspace Salon, Julie has put her heart and soul into this business and the amazing people working there. Any additional funds would be used to help make sure the doors stay open and ready for her return. (utilities or extra professional services to ensure the doors remain open)
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Thank you kindly for reading, we are open to any and all donations, no amount is too small. We appreciate everything everyone is doing and are eternally thankful we didn't lose her.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Thank you.<br /><br />********************************************<br />GoFundMe has requested some additional comments:<br /><br />1. I am James KELLY, one of several friends working to assist Julie.<br />2. I live in Metro Vancouver along with Julie.<br />3. I am Julies friend and in contact with her family.<br />4. A list on what the money will be used for, none of us are aware of the full list of things needed to recover from a Stroke but the below list was developed in consultation:<br />- Medical equipment and rehab (canes, walkers, railings, anything needed to accelerate the rehab).<br />- costs of living as she is unable to work, although she is a business owner her main income was still from hair styling. (car payments, rent, insurance, utilities, food and any other basic living needs)<br />- living situation as she will now need an easy to access living space and support. (possible move, change in facilities)<br />- Headspace Salon, Julie has put her heart and soul into this business and the amazing people working there. Any additional funds would be used to help make sure the doors stay open and ready for her return. (utilities or extra professional services to ensure the doors remain open)<br /><br />Thank you.

Recovery and Support for Julie

This money will go to Selvia Christina Menard-Soumokil to help with her upcoming expenses. Please help her in anyway you can, in memory of our friend Michel Menard

Help The Burkhart-Thorne Family After Tragedy

<strong>It's Never Too Late for a Miracle</strong><br /><br /> Many of you reading this know Susan Bohonos in some way shape or form: a fellow parent at your child's elementary school; a small business owner making a go of it; an old colleague at the pub; avid boater and explorer of the Harrison area; a recipe exchanger; a BC Children's Hospital volunteer; a daughter, sister, wife of 18 years, mother to two sons...<br /><br /><strong>And Now Let's Stop and add Cancer Survivor to this Amazing List of Life Accomplishments. </strong><br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/3403649_1425392808.0312_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><br /> While cancer is not the only thing that defines Susan, it is what she has gone to work fighting, for approximately the last 975 days. That is 975 days living fairly well with Pancreatic Cancer. She still runs the house, plays with her kids, goes on trips, hosts parties, up until last winter skied with her husband and got to be her little sister's maid of honor last summer. <br /><br /><strong>975 Days of NEVER Complaining About Any of the Following:</strong><br /><br /> - Living with only 20 % of a Pancreas that now doesn't work at all. <br /> - Living with diabetes. <br /> - Living with a reconstructed portal vein. <br /> - Living with finding a way to explain all this to your six and eight year old kids.<br /> - Living with not being able to digest food properly.<br /> - Living with a daily regimen of 25 different ways she cares for her own self through naturopathic supplements, insulin, pain killers and blood boosters. <br /> - Living with comforting your family and friends when really you are the one who needs comforting. <br /> - Living with mounting medical bills and fighting insurance companies to ensure they stay manageable for a family with now only one income.<br /> - Living with your hair falling out.<br /> - Living with taking a gamut of genetic testing only to find out there is no answer as to why this is happening.<br /> - Living with watching the government taking months to approve a new treatment that could buy you more time. <br /> - Living with the highs of seeing your cancer markers drop.<br /> - Living with the lows of seeing your cancer markers rise when those cells have decided to become immune to chemotherapy. <br /><br /><strong>You See Susan Doesn't Take Many People Inside Her Daily Battle because She is Grateful to be Living.</strong><br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/3403649_1425618579.7693_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><br /> After all, the statistics will tell you most people only live 97 days, not 975, after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Yes, these statistics are hard to swallow, but sometime you need to…<br /><strong><br />Stare the Truth Straight in the Eye and say "Come on; Give Me Your Best Shot."</strong><br /><br />And that is exactly what our family is doing after recently learning the cancer inside of Susan has metastasized to her liver. <br /><br />We know this news will come as a shock to many of you close to Susan. What her immediate family needs you to do is the following:<br /><br />1.     Take a deep breath.<br /><br />2.    Respect their space.  Right now, things are changing every day. Susan does not have the energy to keep everyone up to date and needs to focus on her well-being, her husband and her kids. Her sister Jani will send out updates as they come available. If you have questions, you can email her at [email redacted] and she will do her best to respond and/or update Susan's <a href="https://www.facebook.com/cancerbenefitforsusan?ref=hl" target="_blank"><strong>Staying Cancer Free facebook page.</strong></a>  <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/3403649_1424322902.6638_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />3.     Treat her normally. While her energy is waning, she still wants just to be herself. She will have tea and talk about anything besides cancer. She will meet you at the playground so the kids can run around. <br /><br />4.     Offer to go grocery shopping.<br /><br />5.     Consider making a financial contribution through this webpage.<br /><br /><strong>Because We Are Not Giving Up!</strong><br /><br /><strong>Donating to Susan will help with the following:</strong><br /><br /><strong>1.       Starting Flourouracil (5-FU) and Folinic acid (or Leucovorin):  </strong>Fluorouracil interferes with cells making DNA and RNA, which stops the growth of cancer cells.  <br />Leucovorin can be used to increase the efficacy of Fluorouracil.   <br /><br />There is another drug, <strong>Oxaliplatin</strong>, which is a platinum-compound chemotherapy drug that acts as an alkylating agent. It stops the growth of cancer cells, which causes the cells to die - this drug is current NOT covered by the family's 3rd party insurance.<br /> <br /><strong>2.       Pursuing a Second Opinion in Seattle:</strong> Just over the border from Susan’s home is a leading Pancreatic Cancer treatment centre. They have found administering an enzyme/chemotherapy combination results in rapid reduction of the interstitial fluid pressure, which in turn opens up the blood vessels and permits chemotherapy to reach the tumor in the Pancreas. Their main doctor says the results of these clinical trials “represents the largest survival increase we’ve seen in any of the studies done in a preclinical model, and it rivals the very best results reported in humans.” Susan plans on travelling to Seattle this week to seek their opinion on her case and see if they think their treatment can help her. <a href="http://www.seattlecca.org/diseases/pancreas-cancer-overview.cfm" target="_blank">Read more on the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.</a> <br /> <br /><strong>3.       Access to naturopathic treatments to complement scientific care:  </strong>If you know Susan, you know she’s a bit of a hippie. She has been seeing a Naturopath who has helped her with digestion immensely. These treatments are expensive and are not covered by any insurance. <br /><br /><strong>4.      Allowing Susan to purchase organic produce:  </strong>In order to reach her recommended food nutrient daily dosage, Susan's juicing can get quite costly.<br /><br />We, her family, sincerely hope you choose to help with financial gift if you can. It will ease the financial stress and will make Susan believe that…<br /><strong>                                              <br />It’s Never Too Late for a Miracle.<br /><br />Some Words of Wisdom:</strong><br />"Our family is suffering with cancer but we are NOT going to let cancer rob us from the happy days and times we have left together."<br /><em>                          - Marilyn Sorensen, </em>Susan's mother<br /><br />Thank you for taking the time to read this. <br />- The Thomson and Sorensen families<br /><br />To learn more about Susan's 975 days living with Pancreatic Cancer visit her <strong><a href="https://www.facebook.com/cancerbenefitforsusan?ref=br_tf" target="_blank">Staying Cancer Free facebook page.</a> </strong><br /><br />To learn more about her cancer treatments so far and clinical trials she has benefitted from visit <a href="http://pancreascentrebc.ca/" target="_blank">Pancreas Centre BC.</a> <br /> <br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/3403649_1424322994.774_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />
