School update - Sep 2027 School update We are pleased to inform you that our Year 6 Class took the National Primary School Examination (NPSE) during the summer and achieved a 100% pass rate. No other primary school in the Bombali District scored a 100% pass rate, so as you can imagine we are incredibly proud of our student’s achievement. When the Mabomboh Education Project (MEP) was formed in 2021, our vision was not limited to just providing nursery and primary education in the village, our aim was to progress to secondary education. In recognition of the excellent NPSE results, the MEP have now started the provision of secondary school education in Mabomboh, with a focus on science and technology. Fifteen students have started Form 1 and have two rooms in the new Assembly Hall, and a temporary science lab in what used to be the original library at the school. Feeding programme The feeding programme has continued, and we are due to harvest rice in October which, if it is as productive as we hope, will provide enough rice for our 149 students for the school year. A new multipurpose hall has been constructed and will serve as an assembly/dining hall. Staffing update The current numbers of staff at the primary and secondary school are as follows: Principal- Head of Primary and Secondary Deputy Head Teacher – In charge of the Primary school and Nursery Department 8 Primary School Teachers 1 Teaching Assistant 5 Secondary School Teachers Facilities Manager 1 Janitor 2 Cooks Medical The medical programme introduced this year continues to fund vital treatment for the children. We have been working in partnership with a hospital in Makeni. One of our students, who has a diagnosis of sickle cell, required hospital admission during Evelyn and Sien’s most recent visit in September 2026. He has made progress and is back in school. Students who have a diagnosis of epilepsy also have monthly reviews of their medication at the same hospital. Board of Trustees update In March 2025, Martin Herriot accepted an invitation to join the Board of Trustees, and in August this year was elected Chair. The Board of Trustees also wish to recognise and express our gratitude to Reverend Duncan MacBean who has resigned as a Trustee. The MEP cannot thank Reverend Duncan MacBean enough for all his support and guidance in getting the Project to where it is now. Future plans Our goal is to complete a secondary school building in preparation for the 2027/28 school year with construction commencing in January 2027. This is the start of the next stage in our vision for the education of the children in Mabomboh.
