<div>Hey there Fuzzies!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Recently, there has been a lot of conversation about censorship of the internet and third parties forcing sites to make changes to their content allowances or face financial penalties. We are sad to say that Fur Affinity has not been immune to this pressure. While we used to be able to use third-party advertisers to help fund the site, they are now bringing in less than $150 USD a month. For reference, the cost to keep Fur Affinity running is over $25,000 USD per month (there’s a breakdown further into the post, for those curious)!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the past couple of years we have been working with our third-party advertisers to meet their demands on content moderation. <strong>This has not resulted in any changes to our policies</strong>, but we <strong>have</strong> had to shift more staff focus to rating change tickets (which unfortunately slows down our response times in other categories). Some users may have noticed they received multiple ratings change notifications in a short span of time. This is a result of more submissions in violation of General rating guidelines being reported to us combined with more staff focusing on that specific area. And just to be clear: Content that does not break our rules has no action taken against it, even if it is reported.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This effort has cost us in resources and time in the hopes of having this source of funding restored completely. Despite jumping through every hoop presented to us, we have had our income severely restricted with one demand to remove the restriction: remove all of what <strong>they</strong> consider to be “adult content”, <strong>which we refuse to do</strong>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To reiterate: <strong>We will not be removing adult content from Fur Affinity.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What the third-party advertisers consider adult isn’t even always <strong>actual</strong> adult content. For further context here’s a snippet from our Fur Affinity Advertising Manager, Jamesalesto:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"Howdy!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What makes this situation frustrating is that the bar for what advertisers consider “adult content” is very very low. For example they consider plus size characters, two characters hugging, and “barbie doll nudity” to be adult content, despite these being normal everyday things that are not adult at all. This is why you may see other sites with restrictions on how characters can’t be posed or dressed “too provocatively.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We receive a daily list of items that they have flagged as violations and have to sort through them. If they’re legitimate violations, we re-rate them. If they aren’t, we don’t touch them. Submissions that are not violations of our policies are still held against us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have had many email conversations, Zoom calls, and even an in-person meeting with representatives to help resolve this to no avail.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Given this uphill (and frankly annoying) struggle, if properly funded we would like to aim towards removing third-party advertising entirely, and instead focus on our in-house community advertisers. They are the heart and soul of the fandom, and they deserve to have the eyes of our active users."
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And here with a follow up is Fur Affinity’s Site Owner Sciggles
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"With more and more sites restricting the content they allow, we believe it’s important to maintain our current site standings to protect the artistic freedom of our talented community. However, this comes with a hefty burden of now needing other ways to fund the site. Third-party advertisers aren’t entirely off the table at the moment, but as the funding from them has been significantly lowered, they cannot be relied upon as heavily as they were before. They want us to play by their rules; we have high traffic that they would love to get ads in front of. But we know that censoring Fur Affinity to meet their standards for unrestricted funding isn’t healthy for the site or the community.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For the sake of transparency, these are the monthly costs (in USD) for the site (note—the funds are specific but we will not be saying who we contract and host with for their privacy and protection, they are good beans):
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Contracted staff/coders: <strong>*</strong>$15k
</div>
<div>Loans: <strong>**</strong>$6,258
</div>
<div>Hosting: $6,000
</div>
<div>Cloudflare $260
</div>
<div>Accounting: $235
</div>
<div>Email services: $124
</div>
<div>Extra: <strong>***</strong>??? Varies
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>*</strong> The majority of our staff are volunteers. This number is split in different ways between 7 individuals that dedicate their days to the harder parts of managing Fur Affinity, such as: managing code, handling advertising, urgent emails and meetings, legal obligations and reports, and so many more high-level management tasks. More than Trouble Tickets and not being paid nearly their worth for the work they do and still very much volunteer for the rest of their time. These roles are vital to keeping FA online and are more than what one person would be able to handle on their own.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>**</strong> This is based off of a percentage of sales on Paypal. We were forced to take out a loan when a third-party initially pulled out in June 2025 and hoped we would be able to resolve and bounce back from the issue to not need to ask for community help at the time. Trust me that I wish we had not gone that route...
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>***</strong> This does not include any emergency funds needed or refilling retainers with our lawyers. Those are difficult to calculate in a monthly breakdown as they are more of an “as-needed” expense. It is usually $5k at a time when we are due to refill the retainer. Unfortunately we’ve needed to refill it often as we’ve needed help bringing FA into compliance with the ever-changing modern day regulations and legal standards. As for “emergency” funds, we would ideally like $20-30k set aside. “Emergency” in this case would basically be anything related to physical hardware issues.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are <strong>3 months behind</strong> on some of these items and are grateful to our hosts for being understanding and willing to give us such grace. We had hoped to resolve these issues with third-party advertising to catch up but we now know that isn’t going to be a proper resolution for this. We must instead reach out to the community for assistance if we are to keep things going. This has been difficult to come to terms with and try to approach. We were hoping to make things work out without needing to request more from the community, and it is difficult to announce defeat when we want to be bringing you our best.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I can’t begin to tell you the countless hours, days, and months spent trying to work with third-party advertisers to ultimately be met with the door slammed in our faces for not caving to their standards or for pushing back against AI and cryptocurrencies (like Bitcoin). We hope by approaching things from a new angle with the support of the community, it will make things better overall for the site and all of you.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have the crowdfunding set to increase overtime to hopefully cover up to 6 months of costs for FA but we are grateful for any amount we are able to bring in while we work to improve our systems for future funding."
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you'd like to read more info about this we have an announcement live on the site here:

Support Fur Affinity’s Community Funding

<div>
 Hey all,
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 I go by Bubba among friends and acquaintances. Many of you may already know me, awesome! Some of you may not, no sweat, hello!
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 I was very hesitant to start this as I truly try to be as independent as I can, but times being what they are- I am reaching out to the community for help. Here's the scoop:
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Back in November of 2025, I felt a pop in my inner left elbow when I was doing preacher curls (fun!) and while painful, I still had most movement in my arm and thought nothing of it. But as you may have guessed, I should have gone to the doctor. That small pop ended up being a distal biceps rupture(photo added), and it's more or less killed off 60% of my supination strength, and has started to affect my ability to work. Later this month (aiming for the end of) I will be getting a reconstruction surgery, where they will take a cadaver tendon and reattach my bicep. This will prevent me from doing any labor related work (my mask making, photos added of said work) for about 3 months. The first 6 weeks alone my arm will be immobilized (which I'm sure will drive me crazy) This is where the gofundme comes in.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 I'm looking to raise just the funds needed to cover expenses and bills during the time I am unable to work. I'm setting the amount to an estimated $6,000 to cover car payments, insurance(health/renters/car), food expenses ,and chip at any medical bills, for that time. No more, no less. If you're able to pitch in, awesome! If not, please share. No pressure either way, anything helps. I will do my best to pay it forward.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Thanks in advance!

<div>
 Meet Vinny. He's a 6½-year-old Malamute mix, and he is quite possibly the sweetest, most stubborn, funniest little couch potato you'll ever meet.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Vinny has always been a special-needs dog. He was born with malformed front paws, is blind in his right eye, and has very limited vision in his left. None of that has ever stopped him. He gets around the house with those funny little paws of his like they're ice picks, happily conquering stairs, furniture, and anything else that gets in his way.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 He also spent time in a husky rescue after being surrendered twice before finding his way to us. We've now had him for almost four years, and somewhere along the way, Vinny realized this was his forever home.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 That's when the howling started.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 He went from being unusually quiet for an arctic breed to howling along with us, doing the cutest little tippy-taps when he's excited, demanding car rides whenever he gets the chance, and occasionally wrestling with us around the house. He's a couch potato with an attitude, but he's also incredibly loving. He doesn't need to see the world to be excited about getting out into it. He just wants to be included.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Unfortunately, we've recently discovered that Vinny has developed growths all over his body. At first, there were only one or two at a time, and I was able to manage them at home. But they have progressed to the point where he now has dozens, and one on his front paw recently burst and caused damage that I could no longer safely treat on my own.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Today, Vinny underwent surgery to remove the immediate problem growths, repair the damage to his paw, and send tissue samples for biopsy. We're expecting to hear the biopsy results within about a week.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Thankfully, his surgery went well. The veterinary staff absolutely adored him and told us he was one of the sweetest dogs they'd ever treated. They even complimented me on how well I handle his bandages and said they could tell how much we care about him. I carried Vinny from my car all the way into the surgery area myself because, well... he's Vinny.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 He's home now and recovering. He's comfortable, although the combination of pain medication and anti-anxiety medication has him a little more "zooted" than usual. He'll need several weeks of bandage changes, antibiotics, pain medication, anti-anxiety medication, and other recovery supplies that I'll be handling at home.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 The surgery bill is just under $1,000. I've already paid half, and thankfully the veterinary hospital allowed me to split the payment, but the remaining balance is due tomorrow.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 I'm setting the initial goal at $1,100 to cover the remaining surgical bill and help with Vinny's medications, bandages, and other recovery supplies over the next month.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Depending on the biopsy results and how Vinny's other growths progress, he may also need additional veterinary treatment in the future. We're taking things one step at a time for now, starting with getting him through this surgery and recovery.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 If you can contribute, even a few dollars would mean a tremendous amount to us. If you can't donate, sharing Vinny's story is just as appreciated.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Vinny has spent his whole life adapting to a body that doesn't always make things easy for him. He doesn't seem to know that he's supposed to feel sorry for himself, though. He's just a goofy, stubborn, sweet boy doing his best every day.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 We're just trying to make sure he gets to keep doing that for a long, long time.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Thank you for helping us take care of our boy.

Help Vinny Stay Comfortable and Get Back on His Paws

<div>Hello! My name is Nathan, and recently my home caught fire. I wanted to wait until Insurance got back to us, but considering the cost of the personal property I lost in my game room alone being around $6k and the maximum payout from insurance for the building damage being around $50k, I’m going to need help no matter what. I was able to salvage some computer parts, but otherwise, everything in the room was a total loss, and smoke damage ravaged the rest of the home. We will have to tear it down to the studs and do a ton of work to restore it back to living conditions. Any money given will go to replacing lost equipment, buying new furniture and appliances and the remodeling of the home. Thank you so much in advance.

Nathan’s House Fire Recovery Fund

<div>Sunny, a beloved barista of The Burrow/Vulpine Taproom, needs our help! A faulty lithium battery exploded in her apartment causing a chemical fire, which then triggered the sprinkler system (and a massive, devastating flood). The combination of the resulting flood and explosion destroyed nearly all of her belongings - her clothes, shoes, furniture, electronics, books, crafts, decorations, and documents. Insurance helped recoup a small amount, but Sunny will need our help to make her apartment home again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After over a month of both her and her cats being displaced from her apartment, Sunny is able to return (after a total gutting / reconstruction of the space)! Let’s make that return a warm one after a very stressful two months!
</div>

Help Vulpine Taproom's Sunny After Fire and Flood!

<div>On Sunday, January 4th, 2026, my life changed in an instant when wires in the attic caused an electrical house fire, causing extensive damage to my home. The unknowns ahead are frightening, and while I have lost a great deal, I am deeply grateful to be alive and able to share my story with you. I am beyond grateful that my daughter picked my Glams up a day early—otherwise, they would have been in the house too! THANK YOU GOD!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am also grateful that my two dogs, Roxy and Peanut, escaped unharmed, but I cannot say the same for my fish. RIP to all my Mollies, two Algae eaters, and Mr. Opie Finn'again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you know me personally or know me through JAVA or have been following my journey since the passing of my 23-year-old son Chris in 2020, it will be of no surprise to you when I say, Chris's sign was on a ledge above the couch where I was sleeping. That area of the house visually appears unscathed... I choose to believe that Chris protected me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In moments like these, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but I am holding onto hope, my faith, and the support of my family, friends, colleagues, and community.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This journey will be a long one. I have enough clothes and essentials to get me through, and I plan to return to work as soon as I can. However, there are many day-to-day living expenses and needs that remain uncertain. <strong>Your support would bring me peace of mind as I navigate this difficult time and work to rebuild what was lost.</strong> I am thankful for every message, every offer of help, and every bit of kindness that has come my way.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It’s ok to not be ok, and it’s ok to ask for help—even when it feels uncomfortable. I am usually the one donating to others, but now I find myself in need. <strong>If you’re able to contribute or share my story, it would mean the world to me.</strong> And please, take a moment to check your smoke detectors and install carbon monoxide detectors if you can—your safety matters. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of my support system.

Surgery & Recovery

My mother, Hyun Jung Grant( maiden name Kim), was one of the victims of the shootings in Atlanta, Georgia at Gold Spa. This is something that should never happen to anyone. She was a single mother who dedicated her whole life to providing for my brother and I. It is only my brother and I in the United States. The rest of my family is in South Korea and are unable to come. She was one of my best friends and the strongest influence on who we are today. Losing her has put a new lens on my eyes on the amount of hate that exists in our world. As much as I want to grieve and process the reality that she is gone, I have a younger brother to take care of and matters to resolve as a result of this tragedy. Frankly, I have no time to grieve for long. I will need to figure out the living situation for my brother and I for the next few months, possibly year. As of now I have been advised to move out of my current home within the end of March to save money and find a new place to live. My biggest priority right now is to put my mother to rest and plan out the funeral but due to some legal complications, I am unable to obtain my mother's body. I don't think I'll be able to figure out this whole situation along with legal matters if given 2 weeks to move out. Any donation will be used as funds for basic living necessities for my brother and I such as food, bills, and other expenses. I wish to stay in my current home for at least one more month to sort everything out. Any amount would be forever appreciated. Please everyone just stay safe and check up on your friends and loved ones that may feel endangered.
