No new parent should have to face what Ben and Jess are facing right now. Our dear friends and their sweet baby River need our help. River developed a UTI, and the infection got into his blood. They have been at the Children's Hospital of LA for the past 2 weeks and just got word that they will be there for another 21 days.

Their precious baby boy, River, developed what started as a UTI, but the infection entered his bloodstream, landing him in the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles for what has now become a 5-week stay. Doctors attempted a lumbar puncture to rule out meningitis. Unfortunately, the spinal tap was "bloody and traumatic" and the results were compromised. Out of an abundance of caution, River will remain hospitalized for another 21 days. He is only 8 weeks old and will be receiving IV antibiotic infusions twice daily and round-the-clock monitoring.

All of this on the heels of Ben's company making job cuts and letting him go as he was returning from paternity leave.

This sweet family, Ben, Jess, baby River, Poppy, and Forrest, are facing a mountain of medical bills, lost income, and the kind of exhaustion and fear that no family should carry alone.

Here's how your donation helps:

Hospital parking, meals, and daily expenses that quietly drain a family during a long-term stay

Lost wages while both parents are by River's side

Medical bills that will follow this family home long after River recovers

River is surrounded by love and the best medical care, but his family needs a village right now. Please give what you can, and share this with everyone you know. A share is just as powerful as a donation.

Let's show Ben, Jess, River, Poppy, and Forrest that they are not alone.

Any little bit helps.

Help Ben and Jess Through 8 week old River's Hospital Stay

JOIN US, in uplifting these inspiring Sudanese women with menstrual health products, seminars and a space to talk openly about a widely neglected subject.

Instagram

When you support women, you support an entire community. Yet menstrual health and well-being is one of the most neglected areas in humanitarian aid. Especially for Sudanese women and girl refugees. And it really matters.

These amazing women have fled the unthinkable, yet their indomitable spirit, generosity and kindness remains unwavering. Undefeated. We so hope you will join us in giving them the health and well-being aid, education and support from a local OB-GYN that they are simply not receiving.

We would love to tell you more about why The Woven Initiative and Road To Freedom are focussing on feminine care so specifically.

After spending time on the ground with these women earlier in 2026, researching and doing a test seminar where we distributed menstrual underwear to these Sudanese refugees, we were overwhelmed by the impact such a simple gesture had.

https://youtube.com/shorts/X3l6wYy1AXs?

Women who have never talked about their period, broke a multi-generational silence, on something that if not talked about free of shame and stigma, can be dangerous and cause immense social anxiety, isolation and poorer mental health generally. They shared experiences and laughed together. Now they want to keep talking about it, take away the stigma and share what they learned with their daughters, their friends and their community.

For many of them they have never used or had access to a menstrual product before, often only using towels. We want to change that on a large scale, with our incredible menstrual underwear product, that is durable (lasts up to 5 years), ethically and locally made, that exceed the UNESCO standards. We have proudly partnered with SHEMSI to achieve this…

Each woman gets 3 pieces of underwear, helping her having enough to manage each period. We give these out during seminars where an OB-GYN teaches them how to use and wash them, and answer any question they always had about their bodies they never had the chance to ask.

Both The Woven Initiative and Road To Freedom are ENTIRELY volunteer run. With immense passion, and many people with success in their respective careers applying their skills and knowledge to this mission respectively. This means… we have NO overheads, NO hidden fees! So every SINGLE penny that we receive from you, goes DIRECTLY where it should. This is sadly rarer than one might think in the humanitarian sector.

Every. Single. Penny.

Together, we can ensure that something as natural as a period never stands in the way of a woman’s future.

The menstrual underwear helps these women during her period to:

Take part in everyday life and not miss out on work or school

use hygienic solutions

Learn about their body and gain confidence

Share experiences with other women in the group

Pass on their knowledge to their daughters, families and other women in their life.

The sewing machines help them to

Be independent by creating their own clothes

have a sense of purpose

a potential income

Please donate as much or as little as you can! And if you can't donate, sharing and raising awareness goes a long way as well!

Sewing machines

The more donations we get, the more sewing machines we will provide,

and potentially find a larger space to house further machines should we raise enough money.

Other vital aid

--- DETAILED FACTS and SOURCES ---

WHY MENSTRUAL HEALTH

“Stigma, poverty, and lack of access to basic services like toilets and water are causing menstrual health and hygiene needs to go unmet and increasing women and girls’ risk of infections” and their likely hood to miss school and work . source

Menstrual health and hygiene services are recognised by UNICEF as a basic right and a health issue, not a hygiene issue. Distributed by the WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) working group, they aimed to provide Dignity Kits and educate refugee camp staff.

Due to the large number of refugees and reports from partners on the ground, the demand is much higher than what is provided.

The WHO has raised awareness about the lack of governments to include menstrual health in humanitarian aid for those who are displaced because of war or natural calamities in 2022. source

Menstrual health is part of the Sustainable Development Goals and classified as a basic human right.

“Poor menstrual hygiene can lead to developing reproductive tract infections, urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, and other complications.”

Menstrual health is taught by the community, by mothers, friends, sisters, aunts. Educating them creates a ripple effect and can help them long term.

The topic is Taboo for a lot of women because it is linked to sexuality, and sexual abuse.

Girls miss school up to 5 days per month due to lack of menstrual health products and education around it. source

Generally, girls and women are taught to be ashamed of having their periods . source

An educated and empowered woman contributes significantly to her family's health and the development of her community.

TRANSPORT

Each step of the distribution is created to assure a process free of delivery delays, unnecessary fees and guarantees fair distribution.

As providers, trusted humanitarian Egyptian partners on the ground have been selected and The Woven Team will personally oversee the transportation and delivery of all products.

All female team - distribution, humanitarian aid workers, photographers, videographers, educators.

The distribution will be lead by the female team on the ground and overseen by The Woven Initiative.

The team is trained for the specific needs of the vulnerable status of many refugees, often suffering from PTSD, survivors of sexual violence and war.

Education will take place in safe spaces with only females present, and where needed, infrastructure will be put in place to hold these seminars.

GOAL of EDUCATION

The refugees will be taught how to use, wash and dry the menstrual underwear properly to guarantee their safe use. They also get educated about menstruation in general, to minimise the taboo around the topic in a safe space.

Empowering women and girls with access to this product to be able to go to school and work while on their period, take care of their own children and the kids around them, their community, passing on wisdom and gain strength and dignity.

The Woven Initiative

Founded by a team of experienced humanitarians, their focus is on Effective Giving, a philanthropic value system that is based on research and observations on the ground to make sure what is provided is actually needed, instead of what is assumed. It also values cost efficiency to make sure each donations’ impact is maximised.

During travels in Egypt, Women’s health was a reoccurring theme mentioned around Sudanese refugees which lead to many conversations with locals and different organisations - and ultimately the foundation of the volunteer run Woven Initiative in collaboration with Road To Freedom.

Together, let's empower: Women and girl refugees from Sudan!

In regards to the Hernandez family, we recently experienced the loss of a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, Denise Hernandez. Denise recently turned 63 years of age on December 8, and passed away the early morning of December 27, 2021 unexpectedly. As we go through these funeral arrangements and grieving process as a family unexpected, we would appreciate any donation or social media share that you could provide for us during this difficult time to help with the cost of her cremation expenses. Any other donations inquired outside of our goal will solely go to her newly widowed husband Sal Hernandez to help him pick up the cost of living that our Denise once took care of.

On March 11th, 2021 our sun Amen’Ra was forcefully taken from us by CPS, who claim we refused a B12 shot that was a matter of life and death, which is an absolute lie. We never refused a B12 shot, and at no point was he on the verge of death. Our Sun was then placed with a foster family without interviewing qualified relatives or friends of our family for placement while they investigate. He was later moved to another caretaker. At the time of being taken from us, he was 15 months old and I had recently discovered I was pregnant. My milk supply got low, and I went to Johns Hopkins All Children’s hospital to get some help, but was forcee left without my baby.

BABY AST

On August 1, I gave birth, at home, to our beautiful happy and healthy baby girl. She ushered in so much peace to our hearts. We named her Ast, which means “the gathering/ coming together…” On August 11, while we were on our way to the Sheriff’s office to do a wellness check, we were surrounded by flashing lights and armed officers, who unjustly took Ast from me on the side of the road, exposing her to all kinds of dangers, with all these strangers around her. Now, I can’t bond with my babby girl and meditate with her on my chest, I can't hold my newborn daughter whenever she cries, or give her the breast milk that my body has produced for her very existence. My body feels when she is hungry, but I don't get to experience the joy of feeding her. I’m missing the most tender moments of her life. This is a nightmare and every second of every day until they Bring our Babies home.

Our truth has shined light on the cracks in the system that our babies fall through. Too many mothers are crying, every night, unseen, unknown, unheard, for our babies that are in places where they don't belong.

RACIAL DISCRIMINATION

The Manatee County Commissioner recently declared that “ Racism is a county public health crisis.” Our son Amen’Ra is a prime example of that. My family and I are just one in countless other stories of the taking of children from caring parents that go unheard and unseen.

The racial discrimination that our community is facing right now is focused on Police Brutality because of the visibility and documentation. But we don’t think about the other forms of systematic oppression that come as a sub-set. In particular, the Victimization of our children through the Foster Care System. They become the forgotten ones, falling through the cracks because mothers and fathers are too afraid to take on the gigantic task of standing up to a way of thinking and laws that are steeped in colonial times. Parents are coerced to sign plans and documents under mental duress, essentially signing away their rights to a system that doesn't love or understand us.

Hello everyone. Navajo Nation Missing Persons Updates (NNMPU) is a volunteer group organization that was established May 2013. When we have spare time we are able to help with family/offical searches for your missing loved one. We also provide 30 colored Missing Persons flyers to the families. We are in need of supplies such as search equipment (flashlights, walkie talkies, flaggers, ropes, batteries, drones, drone batteries, gas money, safety vests, water/snacks and donate supplies to volunteers of families actively searching for their loved ones). This also includes making more copies of our NNMPU Missing Persons Flyer Booklets that provides a closer look at ALL our missing relatives in one booklet that we pass out to Chapter Houses, security guards, hospitals, detox centers, etc. 80% of the time families are the ones who have to search for their loved ones on their own. It's a reality for so many families that we are the advocates and we are our own search teams It's a overwhelming situation for so many. This trauma has reached our Diné Relatives on so many levels. As volunteers of NNMPU we are trying to help when we can. All donations will go towards making a difference for our relatives presently and in the future. Help us make that difference. Thank you ( Ahéé'héé )All donation amounts are welcomed and greatly appreciated. NNMPU Team.Note: We do have a public Amazon List that has some of the needed equipment listed if you would rather help by getting us something from that list. Thank you.https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3IUGCJ62KQ8YN?ref_=wl_share

Help NNMPU Make A Difference

On August 23rd my son was shot multiple times in the back by a Kenosha Police Department officer, after my son broke up an altercation by an unrelated party. The shooting has now left my son critically injured as he fights for his life. The extent of my son’s injuries is unknown, but we remain prayerful as he continues to undergo multiple rounds of operations to save his life. This fund is established to cover my son’s medical expenses, mental and grief counseling for our family and to assist our family in the days to come, as we continue to seek justice for Jacob. A portion of these proceeds will also be used to benefit my son’s 6 children, some of whom witnessed this horrific act of violence. Anyone wishing to send cards, letters of encouragement and/or contributions in the form of a money order or check, may do so by mail at: Edifye C/O Julia Jackson 330 N Wabash Ave FL 23 Chicago IL 60611

Justice for Jacob Blake

The Problem: Black and Brown children will face unequal access to safe education in the fall, which will widen educational inequality and achievement gap.

Our Solution: In response to lack of education pods throughout Black and brown neighborhoods, @Black_Education_Matters has teamed up with other educators and started a mutual aid fund to help build and resource Black Ed Pods .

Our mission is to provide safe, inclusive, and accessible learning communities. We will create, resource, and fund developing Black and Brown education pods, as we confront educational injustice by supporting underprivileged communities who seek accessible educational opportunities for this fall and beyond.

What are equity pods?:
Our version of a ‘school’ pod, or ‘learning pod’, but Black Ed Pods, or Equity Pods support and affirm Black and Brown children, in addition to being safe, inclusive, accessible, and affordable.

Black children must have access to safe education spaces in the fall.

“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”
~ Martin Luther King Jr.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

As a solution for fall schooling & child care, parents around the country have started organizing “pandemic pods,” or home schooling pods. Where groups of three to 10 students learn together in homes under the care of parents or a hired educator. The problem is pods can be pricey, complicated to organize and self-selecting. Pods will be most popular among families of privilege.

For parents who can organize and afford them, pods seem like an easy choice. But what about the families that can't afford it & do not have access?

We are inspired and motivated by the idea of creating various grass-roots led Black education spaces, for us by us, that exist even after COVID-19, But there is work to be done.

List of pods we will be supporting coming soon! As of now we are planning on resourcing 10 Equity Pods

Our Provided Resources:

- Toolkit model of a pod
- Assist in the beginning steps of creating pods
- Locating safe accessible education spaces (city by city)
- Locating BIPOC families & student
- Locating local available educators/ caretakers
- Funding
- Educational materials (tips, homeschooling materials, curriculum, etc.)
- PPE (personal protective equipment)
- Connection to other Black pod educators
- Tech support

As we grapple with the idea of putting our children in unsafe school environments led by unreliable state leadership, we must demand & create accessible educational options for Black students.

Using community aid & organizing we must provide safe childcare options for every neighborhood.

We are fighting for educational equality in a global pandemic, and we need your help. Please donate what ever you can, and share on your networks!

My name is Mx. KT and I am a non-binary Black educator and curriculum developer based in Brooklyn, NYC, the founder of Black Education Matters.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you would like to know more about the pods we are supporting! I want to be a Paleontologist and Equestrian when I grow up.

I'm raising money to donate my own line of WORLD CHANGER multi-cultural crayons and books with diversity to schools, libraries and hospitals across America. Sometimes, there are only books with peach kids, and there should be books with brown kids like me too.

I love to read, and one of my favorite books is "The Big Bed". It's really funny! My goal is to donate 10,000 crayon boxes and 500 books by the end of the year. Will you please help me?

*Cover Photo by Michael McCann

Help Fill Madi's Treasure Box

In 2015 Joshua Allen and CeCe McDonald came together to form the Black Excellence Collective. A grassroots organizing collective for and by Black trans/queer youth to organize for our collective liberation using art, direct action & political education.

For 5 years we have operated as a volunteer collective. We've organized rally's and vigils to uplift trans and gender non conforming folks lost to state or interpersonal violence. Hosted countless workshops and trainings to educate our community. And coordinated direct support to folks experiencing housing/food insecurity, incarceration and immigration detention. We have done all of this work without exceeding a budget of $50,000 a year.

Now we find ourselves called to rise up and take action like never before. Our Black trans and queer communities have been disproportionately impacted by the issues that are ravaging our society today. Racism, transphobia, COVID-19, rising rates of unemployment and job loss, housing insecurity, police and interpersonal violence and so much more.

We are asking for your help to make a major investment in our youth led, Black trans/queer organizing work that is vital to the health and well being of our communities. We are raising $100,000 so that we can stand up and fight back! We aim to expand our mutual aid work, coordinate direct actions that center and uplift Black trans lives, to increase our educational capacity to train the next generation of youth activists, and increase our support for incarcerated trans folks fighting to survive in U.S prisons, jails & detention centers.

The funds will be used as follows:
--$50,000 for bail funds, legal fees and food/ride share support for Black trans/queer youth in NYC (50%)
--$20,000 to build out organizing and arts mentorship program for Black trans/queer youth in NYC (20%)
--$15,000 to send commissary funds to incarcerated or detained Black trans/queer young folks nationally (15%)
--$15,000 to continue mutual aid micro grants program to Black trans folks impacted by COVID-19 nationally (15%)

To create a world where #BlackTransLivesMatter we need to organize around the issues that impact our communities while we are still here! We need to create the conditions for our communities to THRIVE, not just survive.

Young people, particularly young Black trans/queer people have been some of the world's most valuable contributors to movements for racial and gender justice across human history. Unfortunately, for far too long our work has gone under-resourced and overlooked.

During this moment of reckoning in our country the Black Excellence Collective is answering the call to fight for our freedom. We humbly ask you to donate to and share our campaign widely! Now is our moment to change the world!

**all donations to this campaign will be 100% tax deductible through our 501c3 fiscal sponsor Gallery Aferro**

Check out the work that we have been leading at the link below:
