This special group of young athletes has earned the opportunity to represent Alaska at the 2024 USA Hockey National Championships in Amherst, New York after a very strong performance at the Alaska State Hockey tournament coming away with the state title. These players have become brothers and together have proven to be a powerhouse in both local and out-of-state competition. They are all very excited to spend the rest of this month training for and preparing to represent their home state to the best of their abilities. They want nothing more than to make both Alaska and their families proud. They humbly ask for your support which will go directly toward helping fund the additional practice ice and travel costs required. Any donation big or small makes a difference. <div>On behalf of the family we would like to ask for your support for the Dietz Family after the sudden loss of their beloved Mom and Wife, Jessie Dietz. It is with great sadness that the Dietz Family are faced with a devastating loss. Their loving mother Jessie Dietz passed away unexpectedly on Saturday March 2, 2024. Jessie lived her life with passion, commitment, enthusiasm and love. She gave these qualities to her family and friends. She lived for her children and loved them with all her heart. In the days ahead the family will be faced with the financial burden of covering her funeral cost and so we are asking humbly and courageously for assistance with these unexpected costs. Dietz Family Memorial Fund

<div>On November 2nd, 2023, 10 year old Hatcher Lester was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

<div>Prior to the diagnosis Hatcher's parents, Brenda and Brandon, spent increasingly more time chasing down explanations for Hatcher's growing list of vague symptoms. Relief came when each doctor's appointment identified straightforward answers for his illnesses, yet something continued to feel not quite right. When Hatcher became sick in late October and could not recover, their worst fears were confirmed. Within hours of his diagnosis, Hatcher was medevaced to Seattle Children’s Hospital to stabilize his health and to begin treating the cancer. Impossibly, even immediate stabilization has been an uphill climb for Hatcher and he is currently on a ventilator so that his little body can recover for the fight ahead.

<div>As any parent would, Brenda and Brandon have dropped everything to be at Hatcher's bedside.
</div>

<div>The treatment for T-Cell ALL is intense and demanding. The road ahead for Hatcher is one no child or family should ever have to endure. At minimum, his treatment will involve lengthy hospital stays, extensive chemotherapy sessions, radiation treatments, and numerous plane rides. Almost certainly Hatcher’s family will have to navigate partial relocation to the Seattle area while he undergoes medical interventions. As you can imagine, the financial burden of receiving such a life-changing diagnosis is overwhelming. And the emotional toll on Hatcher, Brenda, Brandon and Owen cannot even begin to be accounted for.

Stand Strong with Hatcher: Taking Down Leukemia

<div>This October 20, 2023, Nichole (Niki) Ambro took her daughter Kylie to the doctors for them to determine why she was consistently having terrible headaches, dizzy spells and nausea which was making her very sick. They told Niki that an MRI was needed to fully assess the issue, but would take 4-8 weeks for insurance approval. Fast forward three days: Kylie’s symptoms got much worse, so Niki decided waiting wasn’t an option and rushed her to the ER at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. After the initial exam, they ordered the MRI which showed a very large brain tumor near the brain stem.

<div>She was rushed back to the OR to have an external Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) drain placed, which is used to drain the excess CSF that had built up due to the tumor blocking the normal pathway.

<div>Kylie was then immediately scheduled for transport to Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH). Unfortunately, she had complications from the initial surgery, resulting in a blood clot which subsequently caused a seizure and she was unable to be transported until the following day. On Thursday, October 26th Kylie underwent surgery at SCH where they were able to remove approximately 80% of the tumor. They could not continue with full removal as the tumor is intertwined with the brain stem with no clean margins, making it extremely unsafe. The surgeon stated that it looks to be a very aggressive tumor, which may require additional treatments including chemotherapy and/or radiation. She will also need extended physical therapy/occupational therapy to help her regain full function of her left side.

<div>To help with unforeseen expenses, we are trying to raise money to ensure Kylie and her family still have a home to return to when they finally leave the Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) sometime in the future. Unfortunately, we just aren’t sure when that will happen.
</div>

<div>These donations will help to ensure that Kylie’s transition back home and into her normal daily life will go as smoothly and stress-free as humanly possible. She will still have an uphill battle, even after leaving SCH, as life as she knows it may now be defined differently. Since we are unaware of what Kylie’s long-term treatment plan will be, we do not know how long it will take for her to be completely cured. We want to ensure that her healing process can continue at home very soon.

<div>Carter Mills, a 17-year-old from Anchorage, Alaska, is currently awaiting a critical heart transplant due to heart failure. His parents, Dave and Aimee, are with him in Seattle, committed to staying for the next four to six months throughout Carter’s transplant surgery and recovery. They contend with housing, transportation, medical, and a variety of other expenses stemming from this unforeseen tragedy.

<div>As an otherwise active and healthy teenager, Carter was struck by flu-like symptoms that were the first signs of a GI virus that ultimately traveled to his heart.
</div>

</div>
<div>After the onset of symptoms, his stomach pain escalated and he fell into liver failure, necessitating an emergency medevac to Seattle. It was only there that they discovered he was experiencing both liver and heart failure.
</div>

</div>
<div>Carter has undergone six surgeries, including the implantation of devices to assist his right and left ventricles (RVAD, LVAD). Carter has experienced complications and complex medical challenges, causing fear, anxiety and uncertainty.
</div>

<div>Aimee and Dave are Carter’s unwavering supporters. Aimee serves as a flight attendant with Alaska Airlines, while Dave is an IT specialist with the State of Alaska. Both have exhausted all leave options and are not earning income at this time. They've put their professional lives on pause to be with Carter in Seattle, where he fights for his life.

<div>The family endured the heart-wrenching loss of their son and brother, Hayden, in June 2022, when he was just 19 years old. As they continue to grieve with deep sorrow, they now confront this new crisis. All of this unfolds while Aimee's mother battles a rapid decline due to Alzheimer's and Dave's father undergoes leukemia treatment.

Heart Transplant Hope: Help Carter and Family

The dentist didn’t like what he saw and he sent John to a Oral Surgeon, who did a biopsy. The results took over 2 weeks to get back, due to the fact they couldn’t figure out what type of cancer he had.  At this point John didn’t even know he had cancer, even the Mayo Clinic couldn’t figure it out!!! After going to another new doctor, Dr. Sedwick, who was very proactive and had John get a PetScan and he made sure to get some results. Thankfully, it was only in John’s mouth and Lymph Nodes in his throat. John was referred to a cancer doctor in the Seattle area, that his local doctor felt could help John get answers. John was told, it was a very aggressive and stage 4 cancer, and needed surgery, we are still not exactly sure what type of cancer it is. The surgery was then scheduled for 2 weeks later,  November 21st. We are hopeful for a positive outcome. <br />      With John being the major provider for his family of 5, things have taken a toll on him and his family. He is in constant pain, making it impossible for him to work. In the coming months,  he will be dealing with having to stay in the Seattle area for up to 2 weeks, depending on how he is progressing and then go back to Anchorage for many rounds of Chemo and Radiation.<br />      His wife Arica is unable to work much,  due to taking him to Dr. appointments and also being out of town for his surgery and recovery. His medical expenses are unknown, but are expected to be very high, as well as just the living expenses,  it will add up quickly. <br />     Any thing you can do to help out and any amount is greatly appreciated.
