Bovine, a folk-rock Americana band from Austin, TX, set out on their first tour in mid-July, full of hope and excitement. Traveling in a 1988 Dodge van with 250,000 miles, the six musicians packed their musical and camping gear and headed west, eager to share their music and connect with new audiences. The road, however, proved to be a tough companion. Within the first two weeks, the van broke down three times, costing the band more than $2,500 in repairs and assorted liquids. Despite these setbacks, the group stayed positive, recording roadside videos and gathering inspiration for future songs. Earlier today, the van suffered its fourth breakdown in Berkeley, California, just as Bovine was on their way to Mendocino for the Lark Music Camp. Instead of paying the estimated $4,000 to repair the van, they're working on a cheaper way home with all their gear, but it will cost a minimum of $2,000 to get all six musicians and their equipment back to Austin. Sadly, this also means they have to cancel the gigs they had planned for the return route. The expenses are daunting, but their priority is to get everyone and everything home safely.
