While their church community has made sure they have meals and groceries, Leti and their two daughters are not sure how they’ll pay rent or the legal fees necessary to petition for Alejandro’s release. For 21 years, Alejandro has worshipped, worked, and paid taxes in our community and cared for his beautiful family. (Español abajo) Last September, “Sara” was driving to work with her husband and son (19 yo). Out of nowhere ICE appeared and forced them to pull over and get out of the car. They did not ask any questions about names, status, or for any documentation. While “Sara” trembled with fear, they told her to calm down or they would call an ambulance. She pleaded to be let go so that she could be home when her daughters (16 yo and 8 yo) returned from school. They let her go and put her husband and son in handcuffs. She quickly said goodbye to them and never saw them again. This was the worst day, but she has been struggling to hold her family together since September. She received a few calls from her husband and son as they bounced around between detention centers before they were ultimately deported. She sold her car to make ends meet and she is working as many hours as she can to make sure she can support her daughters, but it is difficult. These funds will go toward rent and groceries and show “Sara” that she is not alone. (Espanol abajo) My name is Gloria, and I am the mother of Saul Antonio Membreno Pineda. I am writing this with a mother’s broken heart to ask for your support and prayers during one of the hardest moments our family has ever faced. My son Saul was recently detained by ICE, and we are now urgently seeking legal assistance to help with his case. Saul is a humble, kind, and loving person who has always dedicated his time to helping others. He is deeply involved in his church and community, always ready to serve wherever he is needed. Anyone who knows him knows his heart is full of compassion, faith, and goodness. Saul was preparing to marry his fiancée on April 11th. She has two young children who love him dearly and call him “father” because of the love, care, and guidance he has given them. These children tragically lost their biological father in a car accident years ago, and Saul stepped into their lives with open arms and a loving heart. He has been a true father figure to them, and they are devastated and heartbroken at the thought of losing him. As a mother, it is painful not knowing what will happen next. We are doing everything we can to fight for him, but legal representation is expensive and urgent. That is why we are humbly asking for help. (Español abajo) Yenni, Cesar, and their children (9 and 7 years old) filed for asylum as soon as they entered the country in 2023. The judge declared that Yenni’s case was “exceptional” due to the overwhelming proof of political persecution she and her family suffered in Honduras. Her husband Cesar complied with the onerous requirements ICE imposed on him–submitting weekly photos, missing work to receive phone calls twice a month and monthly home visits from ICE, plus in-person check-ins at the ICE office every two months. Yet in early October, shortly after the family finally moved into their own apartment and had just one more hearing scheduled to conclude their asylum case, Cesar was summoned unexpectedly to a court appearance on a Saturday. The family paid extra for their lawyer to accompany Cesar to the court, but when Cesar showed up he was detained before the lawyer had a chance to arrive. Yenni and her children were recently granted asylum, but the judge separated Cesar’s case from theirs and he is still being held in a detention center in Louisiana. Yenni is caring for their two children with no family in the area and few connections in the community. The children miss their father desperately, often struggling to sleep and asking when he will return home. Yenni is working hard to make ends meet, often taking double shifts, but her family needs help to pay rent, childcare, and legal fees, and to afford food and other necessities. We are raising funds to support a mother and her three children after their family was suddenly torn apart by ICE detention. In January 2026, Marisol’s partner, Diego, was taken by ICE during a routine check-in he had faithfully attended every two weeks. Diego is currently being held in detention in Baltimore. His detention was unexpected and has left Marisol alone to care for their children while navigating overwhelming financial, legal, and emotional challenges. Diego was the primary income earner for the family, working in home remodeling. He was deeply involved in his children’s lives, spending time cooking with them, taking them to the park, and being a steady, loving presence. Overnight, the family lost both their emotional anchor and their sole source of income. Marisol is now caring for three children, ages 14, 10, and 7, all of whom are enrolled in local public schools. Like many families impacted by ICE detention, she is facing urgent and compounding challenges as she works to keep her family housed, fed, and emotionally supported while fighting to reunite them. Our goal is to raise enough to help the family remain stable over the next few months while they navigate legal proceedings and rebuild a sense of security for their children. Marisol and her children are not asking for luxury, only for time, stability, and dignity during an incredibly difficult moment. Since his wife, Selina, was pregnant, it was bad luck not to satisfy a craving—so Alejandro’s mom made him the beloved bread and mailed it to him in Maryland. On Sunday morning, January 18, Alejandro kissed his wife before leaving to pick up the package. He never returned. He was on his way home, on University Blvd when ICE pulled him over and kidnapped him. Alejandro went peacefully. His car was left on the side of the road, the package with the bread in the passenger seat. He never even got to taste it. Today, Selina is home alone, and heartbroken. She is due any day now with their first child, a little boy. She has drained their savings—a modest sum the couple had saved for the baby—to pay for a lawyer to represent Alejandro. Selina has had a difficult pregnancy and has been unable to work. Without Alejandro’s income, she is struggling to make ends meet. She shared with us, “you never expect to live this. It’s incredibly difficult.” Her mom and her sister who live nearby, have been her lifeline. Selina has been able to talk with Alejandro, who is devastated to be incarcerated and separated from his wife. She told him, “We have to be patient. This will just be a bad moment in time, and soon, just a bad memory.” Please help this young mom pay rent, utilities, and everything she needs to welcome her son into the world.
