In memory of Benjamin, who would have turned 14 on October 4, I am raising $1,400 for 826 National.
When I was in elementary school, I would write short stories about Benjamin going on adventures. He was the one who first sparked my love of reading and writing, and I would not be who I am today without him.
Benjamin changed my life by helping me discover my voice. I want his memory to help other children discover theirs.
826 National provides free writing programs to young people, particularly students from under-resourced communities, giving children the opportunity to develop their creativity, confidence, and ability to express themselves.
I am at peace knowing that Benjamin was deeply loved and that he is no longer in pain. Rather than allow this moment to be defined only by loss, I want to turn his memory into something positive by helping other children fall in love with reading and writing the way he helped me.
Every donation, no matter the amount, helps carry Benjamin's memory forward and gives another young person the opportunity to discover what they have to say.
Thank you for helping me honor him.
