<div>Karol and I met about 15 years ago. I still remember that day when we met - Positive- Tall beautiful - Thick blond hair with super long legs and big mole on her neck. After a while knowing and spending time with her I felt like she is a sister to me. We did argue sometimes and then say sorry to each other, like nothing happened. We used to live almost together - she was living an apartment above mine, like in ' Friends tv show' although I did not own a duck. I had a ferret back then. Karol loved animals even the smelly ferret I had. She was hunting mice in her apartment with my ferret and she was very successful. There are a lot of funny and great stories we had together; festivals, concerts, sport activities, like wakeboarding, cycling or just simply walking around the city. We used to love roller skating together.

<div>When she asked me to be a good mother to her son I felt very honoured, therefore this fundraiser is more for Damian than anything else. Damian is only 14 years old and he has his whole life ahead of him.

<div>Damian lives with his dad Marek in Poland for a while now, apparently he is one of the best in class, sometimes struggling with Polish A, which is totally understandable, he was born and raised in Ireland and his first language is English.
</div>

<div>Except that he is one of the best in his class with other subjects. Marek says he is small genius.
</div>

</div>
<div>Marek is recovering from a 2nd cancer now and is worrying that he might have only few years left, therefore lets raise as much as we can to supports such a smart, bright kid as Damian.

<div>We will love Karol forever; we are very sad and probably angry! whit heir's choice of action, but let us remember she is in peace now and free from what she was going through in her mind. Lets remember The blondie Tall and Beautiful who loved life, music and dance, animals and her family the most.

Death of Karolina. K Fundraiser for her Son Damian

<div>Jeremy was a big kid at heart, and his daughter adored him. He would do anything to make her smile. He loved being goofy to make her laugh, and was full of love and encouragement when she needed support.

<div>Romane and I are heading to South Africa to donate school shoes to children with the foundation Bare Foot No More! Thousands of children are in desperate need of shoes. Not only do they require them to receive a formal education but they are also unable to make the journey to school on foot without them, due to the harsh terrain they have to walk over, which can include broken glass, barbed wire and diseased water etc.

Help Us Buy Shoes For African School Children

<div>Stacey Mitchell at age 34 received heart-breaking news in July 2021 that she had stage 4 bowel cancer. 
</div>

</div>
<div>Stacey has two small children Lloyd aged 4 and Blake aged 1 and unfortunately was diagnosed at a time when she should have been her happiest, she was 29 weeks pregnant with Blake her second baby.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Baby Blake was delivered by caesarean at 32 weeks on 6th August 2021 weigh a tiny 3lb 9oz but fortunately healthy! 12 days later Stacey had life saving surgery resulting in a permanent ileostomy. At this time Stacey and Scott were optimistic that the cancer could be beat and the ileostomy to be the worst of this story unfortunately that wasn't meant to be.

<div>In September 2021 Stacey was advised of a a genetic disease FAP. Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a rare, inherited condition caused by a defect in the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene. Most people inherit the gene from a parent. But for 25 to 30 percent of people, the genetic mutation occurs spontaneously. 
</div>

</div>
<div>Unfortunately in Stacey's case there was no family history making it even harder to detect. More unsettlingly though Stacey and Scott were advised that both their beautiful boys Lloyd and Blake would be at a 50% risk of inheriting this relentless disease from their mum.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Stacey underwent intensive courses of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgeries to remove numerous organs and it was thought that there could be a successful end. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately Scott and Stacey were hit again with more painful news. July 2022 Stacey was told that the cancer had spread to the liver and pelvis area, whilst possible to operate on the liver consultants in the UK were not willing/able to operate on the pelvis. 
</div>
<div> 
</div>
<div>Stacey was started on Palliative Care in October 2022. A CT scan taken 29th December 2022 showed the cancer in the liver which started off as 2cm had grown again, and the disease in the pelvis had increased significantly. The chemotherapy was not working. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As an almost last resort Rosemere Preston Cancer Centre have put Stacey on Lonsurf tablets. Stacey started this treatment in mid January 2023. It is unclear if this is having any impact yet. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Stacey and Scott have not given up yet! The goal now is to stop the cancer from progressing and affecting other organs through immunotherapy and other integrative medicine therapies that work alongside chemotherapy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Scott has spent countless nights researching, in an attempt to find a miracle to keep his wife alive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He has come across some treatments that he thinks may be suitable, some of those include:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Intravenous Vitamin C treatment - recent studies have shown this treatment achieve objective regression of the disease and effective control of tumour progression. Estimated cost - £180 per infusion, 3 per week.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dendritic Cell Therapy (DCT) - a natural treatment that activates the body’s own immune cells and helps the body defeat cancer on its own. Estimated cost - £25-40k excluding any travel costs. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hyperbaric Chamber Sessions - flooding the system with concentrated oxygen can help make cancer cells easier to kill with treatments like chemotherapy while also activating the healing process in the body. Estimated cost £80 per session, sessions needed after every chemotherapy session at a minimum.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If successful, these treatments would help to keep Stacey's disease under control. It would not go away, but Stacey's life expectancy and quality of life would greatly increase.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, these treatments are not all available in the UK, and are not covered by Stacey's health benefits, meaning the only way she can receive these life-changing treatments would be to pay herself.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The estimated cost of these innovative treatments is in the tens of thousands, and whilst they are willing pay whatever they can, it is money Stacey and family do not have, and due to the disease's aggressive nature, time is of the essence.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So, I am asking for help on Stacey's behalf. It's a difficult time for most financially right now. Still, anything you can give, any amount, will mean the world to Stacey, Scott and their sons and will go directly towards paying for these treatments, giving Stacey more precious time with her husband Scott and her children Lloyd and Blake.

<div>Firstly, I'd like to introduce myself: My name is Laura McKeen, and I am proud to say I am a close and dear friend to both Laura and Paul Anderson, for whom I am setting up this GoFundMe page.
</div>

</div>
<div>As many of you will know, Laura was diagnosed with a rare and incurable stage 4 neuroendocrine tumour in the pancreas with metastasis in her peritoneum back in July 2020. Initially, Laura commenced chemotherapy treatment in Edinburgh. Unfortunately, Laura's bone marrow did not tolerate it well, and she only managed 7 out of the 12 sessions, leaving her in a very vulnerable situation with little to no treatment options available in the UK.
</div>
<div>It was in July 2021, Laura sought alternative treatment at the Hope4Cancer Clinic in Cancun, Mexico, where she started immunotherapy and specific protocols with the hope of stabilising the disease and preventing further progression. Through the ongoing support and generous donations, Laura was able to purchase the necessary equipment to continue her protocol at home in Edinburgh and until recently, it had proven to be effective in stabilising the main neuroendocrine tumour.

</div>
<div>In July 2022, Laura commenced PRRT (peptide receptor radionuclide therapy) in Glasgow under the care of her NET specialist team. This is targeted radiotherapy to treat the extensive peritoneal disease as well as, the spread to her lymphatic system and liver. Laura completed the PRRT, but once again had adverse effects on her platelet count and her overall quality of life due to the side effects of the treatment.

</div>
<div>This brings us to the present situation and the challenges that Laura and Paul now face.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, after a recent emergency CT scan in December, it has shown extensive growth to the liver lesions, which until now were stable. This is a huge cause for concern for both Laura and her oncology team.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Time is now of the essence to try and do everything we can to get Laura the treatment she so desperately needs and deserves. At present, we are looking into further immunotherapy treatment in Mexico and Germany. One of which is the Williams Cancer Institute in Mexico, which has ongoing studies and treatment options available, including intra-tumoral immunotherapy for Laura, but with a starting cost of £140,000. 
</div>

<div>Throughout her initial diagnosis and new way of life as it were, Laura has continued to show strength and courage. She is a true fighter, which is why we need to get behind our girl and do everything we can.

Help Laura Heal her NET cancer

<div>Kevin O Callaghan is a 6th Class pupil from Dromahane, Mallow, a friend and classmate of my eldest.

<div>Kevin and his family were in France on a holiday at Disney land when he had a bad fall and was very seriously injured. He has had surgery and although out of danger, he has a very long road ahead for his rehab to try and regain as much physical function as possible and time is of the essence. 
</div>

</div>
<div>After a long journey today Kevin arrived back on Irish soil and was admitted to Temple St. Children's Hospital Dublin for the next stage of his acute rehab before he will need ongoing intensive Rehab in a specialist unit, a place yet to be found. 
</div>

</div>
<div>Kevin is one of 8 children and his parents are trying hard to juggle work and family while being with Kevin for his inpatient rehab stay. The O'Callaghans will also need to make structural changes to their home in order to eventually bring Kevin home. 
</div>

<div>The students of Scoil Ghobnatan are participating in a Readathon for the next 4 weeks to raise funds for defibrillators for the school. This is a very important piece of equipment for the school community. Each student will read as many books as they can from their class library in the four weeks.

<div>We hope that by participating in the Readathon the children will grow to love reading and will also learn the importance of giving back to their school community.
