<div>I’m raising funds for my father, who was detained by ICE on September 23, 2026, at around 8 AM while he was waiting at a bus stop. Everything happened so suddenly, and since that moment, our family has been trying to process what happened and figure out how we are going to get through this.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My father means the world to me. He is a hardworking, loving, and genuinely happy person who has always done everything he could to support our family. The people he works with respect him deeply and have always shown him so much love, especially for the food he makes and the kindness he shares with the people around him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is incredibly painful not knowing what is going to happen next. Right now, it is just me and my mom at home. My mom has health issues and barely works, and my father has always been an important source of support for our family. Without him here, we are facing a lot of uncertainty and financial stress.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are raising money to help pay for an immigration lawyer and to help our family with the financial needs that have come from this sudden situation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>How the funds will help:</strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li>Hiring an immigration lawyer
</li>
<li>Legal and detention-related expenses
</li>
<li> Financial Needs
</li>
</ul>
<div>These are the things we need help with most urgently right now.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I never imagined that I would have to ask people for help just to get through something like this. My father is someone I love more than I can put into words, and having him suddenly taken away from us has been one of the hardest things our family has ever faced.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are holding onto hope and doing everything we can for him. If you are able to donate, no matter how much, it would mean more to us than you know. And if you aren’t able to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser could make a huge difference.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every donation, every share, and every kind message means so much to our family during this difficult time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for standing with us, supporting my father, and helping our family through this. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Help Bring My Father Home After ICE Detention

<div>On August 1, 2026, beloved Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo <strong>lost his life after being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).</strong> He was only 39 years old.
</div>
<div>Edwin was a loving father, a devoted son, and a hardworking member of his community who had lived in New Jersey for more than 20 years. He was a man who cared deeply for his family, especially his young daughter, and worked every day to build a better future for those he loved.
</div>
<div>On June 18, 2026, Edwin was detained by ICE outside of his home and taken to Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, New Jersey. While in detention, Edwin was reportedly denied the consistent medical care and medications he needed to manage his diabetes, high blood pressure, and seizure disorder. This is when Oscar, Edwin's brother reached out to us.
</div>
<div>On the evening of July 31, Edwin called his mother. He told her that he was feeling very sick, that he could not feel half of his face or his right hand, and that he planned to request medical attention. He hoped he would receive the care he desperately needed.
</div>
<div><strong>The next day, his condition worsened.</strong> Even though detention staff were aware that Edwin was ill, they did not act until after he collapsed. Later that evening, Edwin's mother received a heartbreaking phone call from University Hospital in Newark informing her that her son had died and asking her to come identify his body. This came as a shock because the detention facility never told Edwin’s mother or his attorney that Edwin was even at the hospital.
</div>
<div>Today, Edwin's family is facing an unimaginable tragedy. Along with overwhelming grief, they must now carry the financial burden of funeral and burial expenses while trying to support one another through this painful loss.
</div>
<div>Oscar, Edwin's brother, is asking our community to come together to help ease this burden.
</div>
<div>Your donation will help cover:
</div>
<div>• Funeral expenses
</div>
<div>• Immediate support for Edwin's family as they mourn this devastating loss
</div>
<div>No family should have to worry about how they will afford to lay their loved one to rest while grieving such a profound loss.
</div>
<div>If you are unable to donate, you can still make a meaningful difference by sharing Edwin's story and keeping his family in your thoughts and prayers.
</div>
<div>Thank you for standing with Edwin's family during this incredibly difficult time. Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps honor Edwin's life and gives his family the opportunity to say goodbye with the dignity and love he deserves.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) is in contact with Edwin's brother, Oscar. Oscar will be receiving Edwin's body and managing the funeral services. Additionally, he will be receiving all the funds from this fundraiser directly. Oscar reached out to us soon after Edwin was detained and we were devestated to hear about his passing

Support for Edwin’s Family After Tragic Loss

<div>Hello, my name is Marielena and I am an employee at Casa Freehold, a nonprofit organization in Freehold, New Jersey. I am organizing this GoFundMe on behalf of Anna<span>, 16. Here's her story:</span>
</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>On July 9th, both Anna's mother and father were taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the parking lot of their job site in Manasquan, New Jersey. Anna, who was at home at the time, received a call from her uncle letting her know both her parents had been abducted by ICE. Immediately, she alerted her neighbor who gave her the number of Casa Freehold. After that, she sat in the house her parents provided for her, alone. Well, with the company of her dog, Keira.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Anna is a Mexican-American, 16 year old sophomore in the Freehold area. She is the only daughter of Olivia and Domingo, two Mexican immigrants who risked their lives coming to America so their daughter could have a chance at "The American Dream." Both work in construction as domestic workers. They are not criminals. Both love this country. But the love was never returned. Now that both of her parents are detained, Anna is living off the kindness of community members and neighbors, who make sure her and Keira, her dog, have food to eat and a place to sleep. Anna also needs to attend biweekly physical therapy, as she is recovering from being hit by a car at the beginning of the year. Anna is facing an uphill battle that no teenager should ever have to fight, especially not by herself.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>For many Latinos in the United States, this is a story far too familiar. Everyday, we hear of people being abducted off the streets, separated from their families, being put in prison camps, and being murdered while asking for help. It's important to remember that these stories aren't just headlines -- they are real people's lived experiences. Anna doesn't get to turn off the news. She's living it.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>This is where you come in. We are fundraising for Anna with a goal of $20,000 to pay for her parent's legal fees, pay for rent and other household costs, pay for food, pay for gas to get her to and from appointments, and other costs that will add up during this process. All money goes directly to Anna. The majority of funds will go towards paying for her parent's lawyers. The cost for her father's lawyer alone is estimated to be around $12k. Anything you can contribute, big or small, will help in the long run.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Although it's only been a week since her parents were abducted, Anna has grown up more this week than she should ever have to. As we work alongside lawyers and the Mexican consulate, it is imperative that we come together as a community to help and support Anna -- to make her feel less alone. What happened to Ana is becoming more common and could happen to any of us. We are stronger together.
