LJ is my 8-year-old cousin who loves playing football and baseball. He’s always been an active kid, full of energy and joy. On the morning of June 28th, LJ woke up feeling very sick and began throwing up. My uncle rushed him to the Emergency Room, where we received the heartbreaking news that LJ has leukemia. He was air lifted from a hospital in Missouri to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock to begin ongoing chemotherapy and further treatment.

 LJ’s journey has been tough, but he’s fighting every day. Once he’s stable enough to be released, he’ll need at-home care and special equipment to help him recover. This means my uncle will have to stay home to care for LJ, making it impossible for him to return to work right now. The funds raised will help cover medical bills, at-home care equipment, and daily expenses so LJ and my uncle can focus on his recovery without worrying about finances.

<div>My name is Sandra Saponaro and I am Mom to Marshall Saponaro who passed away suddenly a few months ago.

<div>Marshall had Autism and Epilepsy and I raised him Solely for 22 years. To say that I am devastated and lost is an understatement as he is the Love of my Life. As many Autism parents can attest to, I spent every waking moment advocating for his health and well being. Marshall was doing very well and then on April 9, 2025 I found him unresponsive a few hours after a Dental Procedure.

<div>Marshall spent many Summers and weekends in Long Beach Island,NJ where his Beloved Dunes brought him a peace and joy that will forever be celebrated in his Honor. Donations will be made to the Alliance for a Living Ocean Non Profit in Long Beach Island, New Jersey in his honor. ☀️

<div>On February 24th, 2024, my mother was a passenger in a car accident that resulted in life-threatening injuries, multiple bone and skull fractures, a traumatic brain injury, and coma. This life-altering event has necessitated ongoing, specialized care and support, which unfortunately isn't covered by insurance and can amount to as much as $5,000 per month. Tragically, a few months prior to the accident, she was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, which comes with a separate set of struggles for her. As her sole child and advocate, I bear the responsibility of her care and support, particularly in light of her lack of family, savings, and resources. Managing this alongside supporting my son and navigating my own financial obligations will undoubtedly be an impossible task.

<div>Since regaining consciousness, she has had an uphill battle to re-learn basic skills such as moving her arms and legs, walking, talking, sitting, eating, swallowing, and breathing on her own. My mother is only 59 years old. She has a lot of life left to live, and while she is making small physical progress, her brain is permanently injured with many deficits. Due to the brain injury, she struggles with constant confusion, memory loss, fear of what she can’t make sense of, emotional turmoil, and is unable to recognize most people, places, things, or sense of time. I am striving to provide the lifelong care for her to give her the best possible outcome and quality of life so she can enjoy being a grandmother to her only grandchild as he grows up, and live the rest of her life with as much joy and comfort as possible.

<div>I am seeking donations to help cover the out-of-pocket costs of her assisted living care, which includes memory care, medical treatment, multiple therapies, medications, and day-to-day assistance in a safe home for people with traumatic brain injuries. <div>Three years ago, his life took an unprecedented turn when he was diagnosed with a severe lung disease. He has never been a smoker, and beyond asthma, he was always perfectly healthy, which left us all confused and heartbroken. His health has deteriorated rapidly, and despite consulting numerous doctors, the mystery behind his failing lungs remains unsolved.

<div>The disease has taken a toll on his life, leaving him unable to work and increasingly vulnerable. As his health worsened, he was put on the lung transplant list. I remember the date vividly, March 5th, 2024  when we got the life-altering call that there was a lung match for him.

<div>His expected stay of 10-14 days at the hospital stretched into an arduous 20-day ordeal rife with complications. Though the journey was painful, it was also filled with hope and tenacity. Now, my son is back home, but his journey to full recovery is far from over. Again, unable to work or be around people, he is confined to his home to prevent any risk of illness that could cause infection, complications and other life threatening issues.

<div>The road ahead is steep, with an ever-ongoing aftercare process that includes numerous weekly doctor visits, countless prescriptions / medications, strenuous therapies, follow-up appointments, and more. These unexpected aftercare expenses have been a financial viper that our partly supportive insurance can't fully neutralize.

<div>To ease this burden, and make sure my boy gets the best care he needs, we are turning to you and our community for help. We are hoping to raise $20,000.
