Every day, I walk 35 minutes each way to work, often with my son by my side when he isn’t in school. The summer heat is making this journey even more difficult and dangerous, but we don’t have any other option right now. Without reliable transportation, it’s not just work that’s a struggle—getting my son to doctor’s appointments or anywhere else is nearly impossible, and it’s not safe to be out walking for so long. Having a car would change everything for us. It would mean safer, quicker trips to work and appointments, and it would give us a chance to build a better, more stable life. I could spend more time caring for my son instead of worrying about how we’ll get where we need to go. Right now, we’re staying in a hotel, barely able to afford it, and sometimes I go days without eating just to make sure my child has food and a roof over his head. I want to personally thank each and every one of you who can and will donate. You didn’t have to do it, and I know everyone faces their own struggles.
