We were living in a home where I worked as a caregiver, but the situation became unsafe due to ongoing conflict and substance abuse in the house. As a mother, I couldn’t allow my children to stay in that environment, so I made the difficult decision to leave.

<div>Walking away was the right choice for my kids’ safety, but it also meant starting over with very little.

<div>Right now, I’m doing everything I can to keep things together for them. I work driving for Uber, which has been my main source of income while I rebuild our stability. Unfortunately, during the process of leaving, my car was badly damaged. The windshield is shattered, the rear window is completely broken, and the front bumper was damaged as well. In its current condition, it’s not safe to drive — which means I can’t work.

<div>Without my car, I’ve temporarily lost my ability to earn the income my family depends on. I’m currently doing everything possible to get back on my feet, but repairing the vehicle and covering basic expenses while we transition has been overwhelming.

Help Emily Provide Safety and Stability for Her Kids

<div>My name is Kiandria Demone, and an activist, most known as  the Black woman who used HTML code to expose the payment processors behind a fundraiser that rewarded a white woman for calling a Black child the N-word. What started as one investigation did not end there. It became a platform.

<div>That moment grew into a sustained fight where I actively challenge racism, expose those who profit from harm, and hold systems accountable when they try to operate in the dark. That woman was not the only case.

</div>

</div>

<div>Since then, I have brought viral attention to multiple stories, including Trey Reed, a case involving injustice that was not receiving the visibility it deserved, and Kyle Basinga, whose situation raised serious concerns about mental health, police accountability and harm that needed public scrutiny. I use my platform to make sure these stories are seen, understood, and acted on instead of ignored or buried.

<div>I have also used my platform to directly support the community. With the help of my audience, I have raised over $100,000 for the Tamir Rice Foundation and organized efforts to feed over 200 families in Atlanta when SNAP benefits were cut during the government shutdown. This work is not hypothetical. It is active, ongoing, and rooted in real impact.

<div>Over the past year, your support helped fuel that work. It allowed me to step away from my business when necessary and focus on advocacy, organizing, and rapid response during moments that required immediate attention. Donations are a major part of what made that possible.

<div>This fundraiser is about more than sustaining the work. It is about building the infrastructure to expand it. I am now actively engaging with elected officials, policy leaders, and legislators to push for changes in cybercrime laws, specifically around harassment, stalking, and terroristic threats that disproportionately impact Black women. The law has not caught up to the reality of digital harm, and I am working to change that.

<div>I am also engaging in conversations around broader civil rights legislation, including proposed policies that could impact public access to body camera footage. Transparency is critical in cases involving police violence and misconduct, and I am working to ensure that access is protected and not restricted in ways that prevent accountability.

<div>This year includes travel to meet with senators, candidates for public office, and local leadership, including officials here in Atlanta. It also includes expanding my in-person presence through community events, organizing efforts, and public engagement that require both coordination and security.

</div>

<div>At the same time, the personal cost of this work remains real. I have faced repeated threats, harassment, and attempts at doxxing. There have been moments where I had to secure temporary housing for myself and my son, increase home security, and take active steps to protect our safety and privacy. This work impacts every part of my life.

<div>In addition to that, every time there is a major civil rights issue, I step away from my business to respond. Whether it is police violence or a case that demands national attention, I use my platform to organize, inform, and apply pressure. That time is unpaid, but necessary.

<div>After years of setbacks, extra hurdles and limited local support, Lake County Pride is still fighting to bring the community its first large-scale Pride celebration. Like many Pride organizations facing rising costs and fewer sponsors, this small volunteer group needs community help to make the event possible. The LGBTQIA+ community in Lake County deserves a Pride of its own.

<div>Since 2019, Lake County Pride has provided support for local LGBTQIA+ residents and youth, all run by volunteers. But organizing events hasn’t been easy.

<div>In recent years:

<div>A Pride event was canceled due to weather, resulting in $10,000–$12,000 in losses, and the city would not allow a makeup date.
</div>
<div>A community pantry built by the group was removed and destroyed by the city.
</div>
<div>Organizers say the permitting process has included added scrutiny and extra requirements.
</div>

<div>This year, the county increased the required law enforcement presence, doubling the number of officers and significantly raising security costs.
</div>

</div>
<div>To move forward, Lake County Pride must raise $5,000 to cover park fees, security and basic event expenses.
</div>

<div>Despite the challenges, organizers are continuing — in part to honor Orlando performer and supporter Addison Taylor, who encouraged the group to keep going after earlier setbacks and has since passed away.

Megan is my dear friend, and in May she made the brave decision to escape an abusive relationship, fleeing from California to Pennsylvania with her cat. After years of emotional, psychological, and escalating abuse, she left behind her home, her job, her stability, and nearly everything she owned to protect herself and her animals. The situation became terrifying, with constant surveillance, hidden cameras, recorded phone calls, manipulation, verbal abuse, and neglect toward the animals in the home. Megan stayed far longer than she should have because she was afraid for their safety. When things escalated, she secretly planned an escape, spending all her savings and even taking out a personal loan to get herself and her animals to safety. Shortly after disclosing the abuse to her employer and asking for help, she lost her job, leaving her unemployed in the middle of this crisis. Her cat is now safe with her, but her biggest fear is for her dog, who may be returned to the abusive environment despite the evidence and documentation she’s provided. Megan is currently fighting for legal protection through a Domestic Violence Restraining Order hearing while desperately trying to secure an attorney who can help protect both her and her animals. Since returning to Pennsylvania, Megan has been trying to rebuild her life from scratch. She already has multiple job interviews lined up, but right now she’s struggling to cover legal fees, living expenses, transportation, and basic survival while she waits for unemployment issues to be resolved. Megan hates asking for help, but she truly cannot do this alone. Any donation will help her stay safe, continue her legal fight, and rebuild her life after escaping abuse.
