Thomas Riggs’ mother, Pamela Hanick, at the age of 63 years old, has been through more than most people could imagine. She’s a mother to two sons—one sadly deceased—and Thomas, her youngest, who is 42 and married with three stepchildren. Ever since her divorce four years ago, she’s faced a constant uphill battle, struggling with medical issues, surgeries, and the overwhelming costs of medication. Each month, she lives on a single check, and by the time she pays her phone bill, helps with rent and food, there’s hardly anything left for her to live on. Despite offers of help, she’s often left at square one, having to start over again and again. Through it all, she’s never given up. To Thomas, she’s a true superwoman, always finding the strength to keep going, even when things seem impossible. 
 
 
 The first donations will go toward an electric scooter for her, so she can get around more easily and enjoy the outdoors with her family. After that, the goal is to help her secure a small apartment, giving her a safe and stable place to call home. Eventually, Thomas hopes to help her get a vehicle, which she lost when she was hospitalized and couldn’t afford the storage fees. Having a car would mean independence and the chance to find work, something she desperately wants. Every bit of support will go directly to helping her regain the life she deserves.

I am 63 years old and disabled, and recently I found myself with nowhere to go. For two weeks, I slept at a bus stop, feeling afraid, alone, and hungry. Some nights were so cold I could barely sleep, and I was always worried about what might happen next. The Barberton police checked on me often and did what they could to help, and I am so grateful for their kindness. I have also started going to church, which has helped me mentally and given me hope during this difficult time. 
 
 
 My situation became even harder after a hospital stay, where I was on a ventilator. While I was in the hospital, someone took everything I owned. When I was discharged, I had nothing left—no furniture, no clothes, not even a pair of shoes or a bed to sleep in. Living with Crohn’s disease makes it even more challenging to get by, and I am struggling to get the nutrition and rest I need to recover and stay healthy. 
 
 
 I am reaching out for help to get back on my feet. I need a bed to sleep in, a couch, a lamp and stand for my living room, and basic kitchen items like dishes, silverware, glasses, and a pan for cooking. I also need clothes, shoes, and boots, as well as supplement drinks and food to help manage my health. At my age and with my disabilities, it’s hard to start over, but I am hopeful that with your support, I can rebuild my life. If you are able to help me, you would be my guardian angel. I don’t have any family left, but your help would be greatly appreciated.
