<div>My name is Joel Barbosa, and I’m writing this on behalf of my wonderful son, Joabe, who our family is immensely proud of.

<div>Joabe moved to the United States with a dream of becoming a psychologist and to dedicate his life to helping others. Over the years, I’ve watched him work tirelessly towards this goal. Our family has entered into debt paying for his school over the years, but this has been worth it because he is the first in our family to get to go to college and he makes an impact on everyone he interacts with. He has completed years of demanding schooling as part of his doctoral programme in clinical psychology in Chicago. This year, he reached a major milestone: applying for his doctoral internship, a required step to complete his degree. Unfortunately, he did not match.

<div>For those unfamiliar, this process is highly competitive and it does not reflect his abilities or dedication. Still, the outcome has created significant challenges. As an international student, Joabe now faces uncertainty regarding his visa status and likely needs to return to Brasil while preparing to reapply. As a father, it’s difficult to watch your older child face something like this after the impact he’s made in Chicago. He does everything through the kindness of his heart. He's changed people's perspectives about the city and he is not afraid to go anywhere to show the community and humanity in Chicago. He has changed our view of the city as well as for millions of others. He does this because he sees good in everyone, everywhere.

<div>However, this unexpected situation has brought about increased financial strain for our family, including:

<div>Joabe has always been determined. He is someone who sets big goals and follows through, whether in his studies or in personal challenges like running every street in Chicago. This setback does not define him or us as a family, but it does create a moment where support makes such a meaningful difference. I am asking for your help to support him and us during this transition so he can return home, regroup, and continue pursuing his dream of becoming a psychologist.

Help my son continue his journey to becoming a psychologist

<div>On Monday, December 16, 2024, my daughter Ashanti's life was forever changed. She was brutally attacked by an assailant, and the investigation is currently ongoing. She was doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire. She has sustained 3rd degree burns over 70% of her body and is now in critical condition. Unfortunately, at this time, there is not much information on what transpired; therefore, I am keeping her medical location private until I have more answers from the detective.

<div>My daughter will be celebrating her 21st birthday on January 1, 2025, and due to the hatred of an individual or individuals, her life will be forever changed. No parent should have to see their child in the condition my daughter is in. I am making her my top priority and have been by her side at the hospital since this incident occurred.

<div><strong>Medical bills from current and future surgeries, ongoing treatment, and rehab.</strong> While my insurance will contribute toward some of the cost, there will still be additional expenses not covered by insurance.

<div>I myself have submitted FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) and will be without pay from my job for the next 12 weeks to help assist with her recovery in every way I possibly can.

<div>Where do we start when we are talking about Kamran. His heart is bigger than his biceps…Kamran is a man of faith and love, who is a giving man, sharing his love and passion of football to the youth in his community. Kamran loves the Chicago Bears and is a big part of the TTNL family…..but Kamran needs our help right now. Kamran and his wife, Raven, reside in Canton, Texas, and he is currently suffering with COVID.  Kamran's condition had gotten worse and was ultimately intubated due to the damage to his lungs, he is "Critical but Stable" at the moment. He is fighting for his life. With his hospitalization, he is not able to return to work and that is crushing his family at this time. Kamran and Raven also rescue animals in the their community and have rescued over 160 animals in the last four years. Kamran and Raven are good souls, good people, and good people that need our help.

<div>Kamran has a long road of recovery ahead of him, his lungs were 80% damaged by the virus.  It is going to take time for the state’s support system to assist Kamran and his wife……we here at the TTNL family ask you to help Kamran and Raven out at this desperate time of need.
