Help a Father Detained by ICE Reunite with His Family

Hi everyone,

We’re fundraising for our friend, Moe Rahman, who is currently being detained by ICE after a routine visa check-in — the same check-ins he’s been faithfully attending for over 15 years.

He moved to the U.S. from Bangladesh when he was just 5 years old and has called Southern California home ever since. He grew up here. He built a life here. He’s a father of two young daughters and his wife is five months pregnant with their third child.

Now, after decades of playing by the rules and doing everything asked of him by immigration officials, he was suddenly taken into custody — no warning, no preparation, and no way for his family to handle this alone.

His wife is doing everything she can to keep their life from falling apart. She’s juggling work, pregnancy, and caring for two kids while driving across town to deal with school pickups, appointments, and now legal meetings. One income simply isn’t enough to survive in SoCal, especially with a baby on the way and mounting legal bills.

We’re raising funds to help cover:

Legal fees to fight his detention and prevent deportation

Daily living expenses (rent, groceries, school supplies, etc.)

Childcare and support for his wife while she continues to work

Travel costs for family visits and legal proceedings

Every dollar helps. Every share matters. This is a good man who has done everything he could to follow the system, only to have it fail him at the worst possible time. Let’s stand behind him and his family when they need us most.

Thank you for showing up.

Gastos diarios (renta, comida, escuela)

Support a Family Torn Apart by ICE Detention

Hi friends, Myanmar has undergone an earthquake of 7.7 magnitude on March 28, 2025. Our healthcare, response systems, and infrastructure has already been crippled by the ongoing civil war and political unrest; this event has just made it significantly worse. The country is looking at extensive rebuilding, with extremely high predicted death tolls. We are students from Burmese Student Associations at various US universities, and are looking for donations to help with the relief effort in the country. Even 5 dollars is a week’s salary and will go so, so far.

We are working with Better Burma, a US based 501(c)(3) and a nonprofit humanitarian organization. They were chosen for their ability to send the funds directly to those on the ground at the epicenter of the earthquake. We will be providing regular updates on the Instagram @harvardmyanmar. Thank you all in advance.

Your money will go towards providing:

-Emergency food supplies for affected families

-Critical medical aid for the injured

-Basic necessities like food, clean water and hygiene kits,

-Shelter support for displaced families

Photos & narrative evidence to follow.

Help Us Save and Rebuild Lives After the Devastating Earthquake in Myanmar

On March 28, 2025, a catastrophic earthquake struck Myanmar, causing widespread devastation and loss of life. The 7.7-magnitude quake devastated central Myanmar, including Mandalay, Naypyidaw, and Sagaing. Many other cities are also badly impacted. Buildings, homes, and essential infrastructure collapsed, and countless lives have been lost. With hundreds of confirmed deaths and many still trapped under the rubble, entire communities are left in desperate need of help.

The earthquake’s impact has been severe—homes, schools, hospitals, and critical transportation routes are now destroyed, making it difficult for rescue operations to reach those in need. Families have been displaced and forced to take refuge in shelters, while many remain stranded in isolated areas. The aftershocks continue to worsen the situation, and the full scale of the disaster is still unfolding.

We need your help to provide immediate relief to those affected and assist in their long-term recovery. With your generous support, we can:

Myanmar Earthquake Emergency: Save & Rebuild Lives Now

Hi, my name is Babu Gurung

Dear Friends and Family,

It is with heavy hearts that we come to you today to ask for your support during this incredibly difficult time. My beloved nephew abyesh, just 11 years young, was taken from us far too soon. His sudden passing has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled.

Abyesh was not just a son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin; he was a bright light in all of our lives. His laughter, compassionate heart, and love touched everyone in hislife. He had dreams and a future filled with endless possibilities, but tragically, those dreams have been cut short.

As we navigate through the depths of grief, we are faced with the harsh reality of funeral expenses. In the midst of our sorrow, the financial burden weighs heavily on our shoulders. That's why we are reaching out to you, our community, for support.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us give Abyesh the farewell he deserves. Together, we can ease the financial strain on his grieving family and allow them to focus on healing and remembering the beautiful soul that Abyesh was.

For your convenience, we have added Cash App for those who prefer cash app. All this money goes directly to Abyesh's mother (Kumari Gurung) account. Cash app: $Kumarigurung123

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, compassion, and support during this devastating time.

The Thulung Family

Abyesh Thulung

My name is Casllie Scott, but to some, I’m known as Joan Arcc—a childhood name given to me by my mother. From the time I was little, I have always put others before myself, often out of habit, always wanting to help in any way I could. Whether through my military service, volunteering, or simply lending a hand to someone in need, I have always believed in doing right by people. But now, for the first time in my life, I am in a situation where I need help.

On January 27th, while waiting for an Uber ride request, I was approached by a man at a gas station asking for help. Wanting to assist, I agreed to give him a short ride, even helping him load parts of his broken bike into my car. But in an instant, my life changed. As I closed my trunk, he jumped into the driver’s seat, slammed the car door on my hand, and tried to steal my vehicle. I fought back, climbing in to stop him, but he reversed into oncoming traffic, threatening, “I’m going to crash your car.” And then he did.

The impact left my car completely totaled, my face bruised, and my future uncertain. But this wasn’t just any car—it was my miracle car, the first vehicle I had ever financed on my own. I had only had it since November 2024, making just four successful payments before it was taken from me. Despite having an APR of 29.75%, I was able to keep up with my $556 monthly payments, determined to build my credit and achieve something on my own. Now, I am left with no transportation, and because of my insurance policy, I must either pay the deductible to settle the claim or continue making payments on a car I no longer have until the loan is fully paid off.

Since I was doing Uber at the time, the company provided me with a rental car for a month, but after that, I have no idea how I will get another car—even a cheap one. I fear I will have to drop out of school because I won’t have reliable transportation. I currently attend American Career College in Ontario, studying to become a surgical technologist, a career I chose because of my passion for medicine and helping others. I live 30-45 minutes from my college, and while it’s easy to ask someone to drive you 10 minutes, it’s much harder to ask someone to drive you 30 minutes every day.

Beyond the financial struggles, I keep replaying the moment in my head, wondering what I could have done differently to get him out of my car. I have always done right by people—I give back, I help others, and I do my best to make a difference in the world. Even when my National Guard unit was not activated, I volunteered to assist during the LA fires, stepping up when others needed help. Yet here I am, facing one of the hardest struggles of my life, wondering how someone could do this to me when all I’ve ever done is try to help others.

I have applied for the Victim of a Crime Fund, but I was told it could take up to two years to receive aid. Meanwhile, I am two months behind on rent, struggling with my car payments on a totaled vehicle, and trying to keep up with daily expenses. I have applied for several school scholarships and even considered taking out student loans I don’t need, but I have not heard back yet and hesitate to take on unnecessary debt.

My art career was finally gaining traction on social media, but I have yet to sell an original painting. My TikTok Shop has brought in some print sales, but because Printify requires upfront production and shipping costs, I can’t afford to fulfill those orders. @ JOANARRT_ . Since the event I’ve suffered from insomnia and find comfort going live on my art TikTok where I’ve build a community. For the 1st 2 weeks I was stuck in the house so I just started painting that was the only thing that stopped my mind from going to a dark place.

I’ve been serving in the national guard since 2016 and just reenlisted for another 3, hoping the bonus I get can help but I won’t be able to touch it until the end of this physical year. My unit is in Bartow and I live in La puente.

My art website : http://Joan-Arcc-art.square.site

Is currently under construction but I plan to post my original art pieces to hopefully generate a sale. I sale more prints than originals but I’m grateful however I’ll have to pause all orders.

I am too talented and too kind of a person to be struggling this hard. I have always believed in lifting others up, but right now, I need help to keep going.

I only have this rental car for 4 more weeks before it has to go back. I’m not sure if I can get an extension through Uber insurance. And if I can’t get a car I feel I would have no choice but to stop college and get a local job. College was already put on hold from me twice with deployments and stateside active orders. I feel that since I’ll be the first generation in my family to go to college I think everything is trying to stop me.

I’ve only lived in California since November 2023. It’s a whole different continent here. Everything is different, people aren’t as nice, more so envious and desperate. It scares me.

I call it the “ California newcomer curse” I designated myself to be the one to break the generational curse. I refuse to go home without following my dream in California.

Sometimes I can’t tell what path I’m on with god. They always say that if your on the wrong path god will put things in front of you to try to get to back on track. They also say that if your on the right bath god will put stuff in front of you to make you stronger for the plans he has waiting in store. But I don’t know what path I’m on and I constantly think about it. No matter how much good I put out and try to give back I just feel like bad is always around the corner. Things that have never happened to me in life has started happening since I moved to California. But I am strong and I thank the military for giving me thick skin. I will get through this. And I will still give back and be kind to others but I will give myself limitations. That was the first and last time I give anyone a ride that I do not know. That is also the first time I had a good deed backfire on me but I will not let that stop my fight

Donations will go towards cost beyond what my insurance covers including;

•	A reliable car so I can continue school and work.

•	Rent and essential bills to keep me afloat.

•	Paying off my car deductible or remaining car balance.

•	Supporting my art business, which is a critical income source.

I am a soldier, artist, future surgical technologist, and fighter, but right now, I need help to keep moving forward. Any donation, big or small, would mean the world to me. If you can’t donate, supporting my art and sharing this campaign would also be a huge help.

Thank you for believing in me and helping me turn my pain into purpose.

An Artist, Soldier, & Student in Need

What do you do when the world tells you that the odds are against you? Do you give up? Do you take the traditional route? Or do you fight against those odds for the sake of love, for the sake of survival?

We are starting this fundraiser today because we are choosing to help someone go down the path less chosen.

Our daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Mary Kakish, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer. Conventional medical options including chemotherapy, radiation, and extreme surgery will only result in a 20% rate of success.

After hearing this, Mary began to research other methods. Mary is tough. Mary is persistent. Mary is optimistic and determined to survive. She has contacted multiple doctors and specialists.

When the research was complete, and with the support of friends and family. Mary decided to take a chance on the unconventional solution.

Mary has chosen holistic and integrative treatment including Immunotherapy as the alternative. This type of treatment is designed to destroy cancer cells and tumors and alter the internal environment of the body that has been promoting the growth of the cancer.

This decision came out of Mary's deep love of nature and life. Why not take a chance on something more holistic before resorting to something that has a 20% rate of success.

As a family we are reaching out for donations to help Mary get the cancer therapy she needs at Hope4Cancer Integrative Cancer Treatment Center and Issels Immuno-Oncology Center in Mexico.

These centers offer the latest breakthrough therapies, and more treatments under one roof than any other integrative treatment center in the world.

Cancer therapy will be very expensive and is not covered by insurance. The treatment and costs will well exceed $150,000.

Her treatment needs to begin as soon as possible as time is of the essence for Mary’s healing journey and recovery.

To know Mary is to understand that she is one of the most selfless and kindest humans you will ever meet.

When Mary was told of her diagnosis and options she took the news calmly, thinking only of her family and how she may ease their pain. Her sense of humor, compassion, loyalty and love for family and friends are what make her so extraordinary.

We are so proud of her strength, determination and positivity.

We hope you can find it in your heart to make a donation. Every little bit helps.

Thank you for your generosity.

P.S. Special thanks to Dareen Sahawneh, Mary's cousin, for assisting in accepting the donations in her name and withdrawing them to assist Mary in financial management.

The Road Less Taken

My beautiful son Dante Dolphin passed away today from a traumatic brain injury. He was such a wonderful man, son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, friend. He was working on his second college degree in culinary arts. He was a hard worker. He was such a positive and funny guy. He deserves a wonderful send off. He is also saving many lives by his choice of being an organ donor. In lieu of flowers we would appreciate anything to help with this.

Dante Dolphin's Celebration of Life Services

On November 9th, our family received news that Lilianne was hit by someone who was driving under the influence early in the morning in San Luis Obispo (SLO). The man driving also had a suspended license. https://ksby.com/news/local-news/2018/11/09/driver-on-drugs-hits-injures-pedestrian-in-san-luis-obispo-police-say

After she was hit, she went to a hospital in SLO, but they were not able to treat her injuries there due to the severity of them. She was then airlifted to a hospital in Fresno and as of November 20th, has undergone a total of four surgeries. One surgery was for a broken tibia/fibula, two involved a bowel resection, and the last one was for her broken pelvis. Because of this and the hospital stay, the family is asking for donations. All donations will go straight to the family. Alexis Chang, Lilianne's sister, is the beneficiary and will be withdrawing the donations as Lilianne goes through this process. We have also been giving updates. If you would like to see these updates and her process of recovery, click the "updates" tab!

Thank you! We appreciate all donations! Any amount helps!

Final update: all this work has now been completed! We have released a full accounting and financials of how the funds were used. In it you will find receipt letters and accounting reports from all the charities that were supported! To download the report: https://gofundme.com/c/lovearmy
Enjoy everyone and thank you for all your trust, support, kindness. This was truly a team's effort. Wishing everyone good times ahead!

The full story of this movement: For years we've been wanting to put the privilege of having an audience into ACTION and when we saw the famine happening in Somalia, we thought we had to do something.
Our first instinct was to google how to fly from New York to Somalia. We saw that Turkish Airlines was the only airlines flying there. So we asked ourself what if we could convince Turkish Airlines to let us use one of their flights to Somalia? And fill it with food!
One shipment - providing immediate relief for an immediate need.

That's how it all began

and within 24 hours we made this idea public

All together.

It became a movement called LOVE ARMY FOR SOMALIA

After a couple of hours, Turkish Airlines approached us with a positive answer !!

And they made available for us a full cargo flight that can fly 60 tons of food.

This first victory proved us how much power doesn't mean much individually, but has the potential to move mountains when we UNITE!

That's why we decided to raise money all together and started this GoFundMe page 2 months ago.

Because we didn't even have the time to create an official charity, Ben Stiller has generously let us use his charity STILLER FOUNDATION in order to receive and manage the funds. This means U.S. DONORS ARE ABLE TO WRITE THIS DONATION OFF THEIR TAXES if they wish.

To get that tax receipt please email mg@dr-barbara-sturm.de after your donation.

In 21 hours we raised 1 million dollars. Way enough to buy the 60 tons of food.

So we used our flight and bought 60 tons of special food for malnourished babies named PLUMPY'SUP.

That is the product.
And that is what the 60 tons we bought look like:

Then we took the flight to Somalia to make sure the food was being given to the people in need!

Buying those 60 tons of food has cost us exactly 155,938 Euro. About 166,371 USD. Which means we still had so much more to spend.

So we decided to use the remaining fund to buy food locally. To support the Somali economy!!

We teamed up with an NGO in Somalia called American refugee committee, run only by Somalis. They became the best partner we could have dreamed of. Because they are from here, knew exactly what was needed, and understand this country.

This is the food we buy here and distribute:
- Rice
- Flour
- Sugar
- Porridge
- Milk powder
- Dates
- And cooking oil

And here are some pictures from our food deliveries:

There is a huge misunderstanding that a country in "famine" doesn't have food. The truth is Somalia has plenty of food in its store & markets. The problem is the drought has killed all the animals which often were the only source of income for the people. So without income, people are not able to buy food.

The world needs to support Somalis with food & water until the drought is over. Until new animals are bought again and food can grow again!

For water, we've learned from multiple NGOs on the ground, that the most efficient thing to do is get water trucks to be delivered. Each water truck is about $250 and about 10,000 liters.

Here is a picture of the trucks.

SO FAR, WE'VE DISTRIBUTED OVER 1000! TONS OF FOOD, ALL BOUGHT LOCALLY.

AND OVER 3 MILLION LITERS OF WATER!

AND OF COURSE THE 60 TONS OF BABY FOOD.

This mission, because of all of you, is way more successful than any of us individually could have ever dreamed. But things in Somalia are getting worst and worst, and in many places, people are on the verge of dying from either cholera or severe diarrhea. There is no time to lose. And we need more help.

That is why, now that we have 3 months of experience of execution on the ground with ARC, and that we are confident that what we are doing is actually having an impact and saving lives, we've decided to push the goal of this campaign to 2,7 million dollars.

Just like to our first donors, the promise to you all is full transparency. Funds are handled by the Stiller Foundation, and at the end of the mission, we will publish online all the receipts so you will know where every single dollar went.

Also, because of all the people that are here with us in Somalia to document the mission, we will be consistently posting updates on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram, so you can all see first hand the successes of YOUR mission. And also the struggles sometimes that we have to go through.

Here is a video from a french YouTuber "Le Grand JD" that joined us in Somalia and spent 1 week with us (with English subtitles)

We know this is possible to reach the $2.7 million. And if it is then we must. If we all make an extra effort to give, even just a little bit, we will get there.
For those of you that can not give anymore, please talk to your friends/family or think of a creative way, if you look for it you will find a way!!

Congrats to all of you for saving lives.

Love Army.

PS: more pictures from the last 2 months:

That day our truck broke... wasn't the easiest day :)

They wanted to help with the water delivery :) young but strong!!!!

Finally, we will leave you with a picture we were hesitant to share...

When we arrived in this village the little girl on the left vas very dehydrated... and needed urgent help. Just next to her.. stand the cutest smile we found here.

Those kids live in one of the villages the most hit by the drought, they are both malnourished (can confirm that after carrying them), many people have already died in his village.

But, and it's a big BUT, you can see the smile on the boy's face... one of the most precious smiles we've ever seen. May this give us all hope that this is not too late and we can still save as many people as we can. We must.

This mission relief for Somalia is built like a puzzle, with thousands of people bringing their own pieces to make it work. People that refuse to be complicit of this tragedy. We don't have to let those people die. We can act today. Join us today and play your part.

Love Army.
