<div>Hi friends, Myanmar has undergone an earthquake of 7.7 magnitude on March 28, 2025. Our healthcare, response systems, and infrastructure has already been crippled by the ongoing civil war and political unrest; this event has just made it significantly worse. The country is looking at extensive rebuilding, with extremely high predicted death tolls. We are students from Burmese Student Associations at various US universities, and are looking for donations to help with the relief effort in the country. <div>My name is Casllie Scott, but to some, I’m known as Joan Arcc—a childhood name given to me by my mother. From the time I was little, I have always put others before myself, often out of habit, always wanting to help in any way I could. Whether through my military service, volunteering, or simply lending a hand to someone in need, I have always believed in doing right by people. But now, for the first time in my life, I am in a situation where I need help.

<div>On January 27th, while waiting for an Uber ride request, I was approached by a man at a gas station asking for help. Wanting to assist, I agreed to give him a short ride, even helping him load parts of his broken bike into my car. But in an instant, my life changed. As I closed my trunk, he jumped into the driver’s seat, slammed the car door on my hand, and tried to steal my vehicle. I fought back, climbing in to stop him, but he reversed into oncoming traffic, threatening, “I’m going to crash your car.” And then he did.

</div>
<div>The impact left my car completely totaled, my face bruised, and my future uncertain. But this wasn’t just any car—it was my miracle car, the first vehicle I had ever financed on my own. I had only had it since November 2024, making just four successful payments before it was taken from me. Despite having an APR of 29.75%, I was able to keep up with my $556 monthly payments, determined to build my credit and achieve something on my own. Now, I am left with no transportation, and because of my insurance policy, I must either pay the deductible to settle the claim or continue making payments on a car I no longer have until the loan is fully paid off.

<div>Since I was doing Uber at the time, the company provided me with a rental car for a month, but after that, I have no idea how I will get another car—even a cheap one. I fear I will have to drop out of school because I won’t have reliable transportation. I currently attend American Career College in Ontario, studying to become a surgical technologist, a career I chose because of my passion for medicine and helping others. I live 30-45 minutes from my college, and while it’s easy to ask someone to drive you 10 minutes, it’s much harder to ask someone to drive you 30 minutes every day.

<div>Beyond the financial struggles, I keep replaying the moment in my head, wondering what I could have done differently to get him out of my car. I have always done right by people—I give back, I help others, and I do my best to make a difference in the world. Yet here I am, facing one of the hardest struggles of my life, wondering how someone could do this to me when all I’ve ever done is try to help others.

Meanwhile, I am two months behind on rent, struggling with my car payments on a totaled vehicle, and trying to keep up with daily expenses. I have applied for several school scholarships and even considered taking out student loans I don’t need, but I have not heard back yet and hesitate to take on unnecessary debt.

Things that have never happened to me in life has started happening since I moved to California. But I am strong and I thank the military for giving me thick skin. I will get through this. And I will still give back and be kind to others but I will give myself limitations. That was the first and last time I give anyone a ride that I do not know. That is also the first time I had a good deed backfire on me but I will not let that stop my fight

An Artist, Soldier, & Student in Need

What do you do when the world tells you that the odds are against you? Do you give up? Do you take the traditional route? Or do you fight against those odds for the sake of love, for the sake of survival?<br /><br />We are starting this fundraiser today because we are choosing to help someone go down the path less chosen.<br /><br />Our daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Mary Kakish, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer. Conventional medical options including chemotherapy, radiation, and extreme surgery will only result in a 20% rate of success.<br /><br />After hearing this, Mary began to research other methods. Mary is tough. Mary is persistent. Mary is optimistic and determined to survive. She has contacted multiple doctors and specialists.<br /><br />When the research was complete, and with the support of friends and family. Mary decided to take a chance on the unconventional solution.<br /><br />Mary has chosen holistic and integrative treatment including Immunotherapy as the alternative. This type of treatment is designed to destroy cancer cells and tumors and alter the internal environment of the body that has been promoting the growth of the cancer. <br /><br />This decision came out of Mary's deep love of nature and life. The Road Less Taken

My beautiful son Dante Dolphin passed away today from a traumatic brain injury. He was such a wonderful man, son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, friend. He was working on his second college degree in culinary arts. He was a hard worker. He was such a positive and funny guy. He deserves a wonderful send off. He is also saving many lives by his choice of being an organ donor. In lieu of flowers we would appreciate anything to help with this.

<p>On November 9th, our family received news that Lilianne was hit by someone who was driving under the influence early in the morning in San Luis Obispo (SLO). She was then airlifted to a hospital in Fresno and as of November 20th, has undergone a total of four surgeries. One surgery was for a broken tibia/fibula, two involved a bowel resection, and the last one was for her broken pelvis. Because of this and the hospital stay, the family is asking for donations. All donations will go straight to the family. Alexis Chang, Lilianne's sister, is the beneficiary and will be withdrawing the donations as Lilianne goes through this process. It is with a heavy heart that we ask for your help today.  Isaac Gonzalez was only 15 years young when he was brutally gunned down at home the evening of March 25th.  It is with even greater sadness that we inform you Isaac did not make it and passed on March 26th.  He leaves behind his Mom ,Dad and 2 younger brothers.  <br /><br />Isaac was such a wonderful young man that was loved by all.  He was always respectful , courteous and helpful to anyone that he interacted with, always leaving  a great impression with them.  It easy to say  he had a huge heart. His passion was boxing and was only beginning. He was taken from us way to soon.  We will miss you dearly Isaac. Wishing everyone good times ahead!<br /><br /><strong>The full story of this movement:</strong> For years we've been wanting to put the privilege of having an audience into ACTION and when we saw the famine happening in Somalia, we thought we had to do something. <br />Our first instinct was to google how to fly from New York to Somalia. We saw that Turkish Airlines was the only airlines flying there. So we asked ourself <strong>what if we could convince Turkish Airlines to let us use one of their flights to Somalia? And fill it with food!</strong><br />One shipment - providing immediate relief for an immediate need.<strong><br /><br /></strong>That's how it all began<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/18953392_1495031995.5069_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />and within 24 hours we made this idea public<br /><strong><br /></strong>All together. <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/18953392_1495030522.4332_funddescription.png" alt="" width="100%" /><br />It became a movement called <strong>LOVE ARMY FOR SOMALIA</strong><br /><br />After a couple of hours, Turkish Airlines approached us with a <strong>positive answer</strong> !!<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/18953392_1489716124.6287_funddescription.png" alt="" width="100%" /><br />And they made available for us a full cargo flight that can fly 60 tons of food<strong>.</strong><br /><br />This first victory proved us how much power doesn't mean much individually, but has the potential to move mountains when we UNITE!<br /><br />That's why <strong>we decided to raise money all together</strong> and started this GoFundMe page 2 months ago.<br /><br />Because we didn't even have the time to create an official charity, Ben Stiller has generously let us use his charity STILLER FOUNDATION in order to receive and manage the funds. This means U.S. DONORS ARE ABLE TO WRITE THIS DONATION OFF THEIR TAXES if they wish.<br /><br />To get that tax receipt please email mg@dr-barbara-sturm.de after your donation.<br /><br /><strong>In 21 hours we raised 1 million dollars.</strong> Way enough to buy the 60 tons of food.<br /><br />So <strong>we used our flight and bought 60 tons of special food for malnourished babies</strong> named PLUMPY'SUP. <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/18953392_1495031043.2636_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />That is the product.<br />And that is what the 60 tons we bought look like:<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/18953392_1495031067.735_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />Then we took the flight to Somalia to make sure the food was being given to the people in need!<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/18953392_1495031163.504_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />Buying those 60 tons of food has cost us exactly 155,938 Euro. About 166,371 USD. Which means we still had so much more to spend.<br /><br />So we decided to use the remaining fund to buy food locally. To support the Somali economy!!<br /><br />We teamed up with an NGO in Somalia called American refugee committee, <strong>run only by Somalis</strong>. They became the best partner we could have dreamed of. The problem is the drought has killed all the animals which often were the only source of income for the people. So without income, people are not able to buy food.<br /><br /><strong>The world needs to support Somalis with food &amp; water until the drought is over.</strong> Until new animals are bought again and food can grow again!<br /><br />For water, we've learned from multiple NGOs on the ground, that the most efficient thing to do is get water trucks to be delivered.  Each water truck is about $250 and about 10,000 liters. <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/18953392_1495033056.0123_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />Here is a picture of the trucks.<br /><br /><strong>SO FAR, WE'VE DISTRIBUTED OVER 1000! TONS OF FOOD, ALL BOUGHT LOCALLY.<br /><br />AND OVER 3 MILLION LITERS OF WATER!<br /></strong><br />AND OF COURSE THE 60 TONS OF BABY FOOD.<br /><br />This mission, because of all of you, is way more successful than any of us individually could have ever dreamed. But <strong>things in Somalia are getting worst and worst</strong>, and in many places, people are on the verge of dying from either cholera or severe diarrhea. There is no time to lose. And <strong>we need more help.</strong><br /><br />That is why, now that we have 3 months of experience of execution on the ground with ARC, and that we are confident that what we are doing is actually having an impact and saving lives, <strong>we've decided to push the goal of this campaign to 2,7 million dollars.</strong><br /><br />Just like to our first donors, the promise to you all is <strong>full transparency. </strong>Funds are handled by the Stiller Foundation, and at the end of the mission, we will publish online all the receipts so you will know where every single dollar went.<br /><br />Also, because of all the people that are here with us in Somalia to document the mission, we will be consistently posting updates on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram, so you can all see first hand the successes of YOUR mission. Just next to her.. stand the cutest smile we found here. <br /><br />Those kids live in one of the villages the most hit by the drought, they are both malnourished (can confirm that after carrying them), many people have already died in his village. <br /><br />But, and it's a big BUT, you can see the smile on the boy's face... one of the most precious smiles we've ever seen. May this give us all hope that<strong> this is not too late and we can still save as many people as we can. </strong>We must.<strong><br /><br />This mission relief for Somalia is built like a puzzle</strong>, with thousands of people bringing their own pieces to make it work.
