Ashley is a dear coworker who has always been there for others, offering kindness and support whenever she could. Recently, Ashley experienced an unimaginable loss when her husband passed away tragically at the age of 38. Now, she faces the difficult task of navigating life as a single parent to Marley, all while coping with grief and the sudden financial challenges that come with such a loss.

The funds raised through this campaign will be used however Ashley sees fit to support herself and Marley in the days ahead. This includes covering funeral costs, daily living expenses, and anything else that may help them find stability and comfort during this heartbreaking time. Ashley has always had a huge heart, and she’s the first to lend a hand to others in need. Now, it’s our turn to rally around her and show her the same compassion she has given so freely.

If you are able, please consider donating to help Ashley and Marley as they move forward. Your support will make a meaningful difference, providing relief and hope when it’s needed most. Thank you for keeping Ashley and her family in your thoughts and for any help you can offer.

Support Ashley and Marley After Tragic Loss

In loving memory of Leonti Robert Gabriel Mello.

*this fundraiser is created by Claire Mello’s sisters.

On November 2, 2025, Claire and Marius Mello lost their baby boy, Leonti Mello. Claire and Marius, their daughters Maxine and Eloise, and their son Roman were so excited to welcome little Leo into the world on or around November 21st. Instead, they had to face the unimaginable loss of their son and brother far too soon.

Our family is heartbroken beyond words. Claire and Marius showed such strength and love through something no parent should ever have to experience. As they navigate this deep loss and the days ahead, we are asking you to help us ease some of the financial strain they now face including medical and funeral costs.

If you're able to give, please do. We also have a mealtrain for those local to the area where you can sign up to bring the family meals and/or gift meal gift cards.

Claire and Marius are so so grateful for the outpouring of love surrounding them. Please give them time to grieve, and join in our prayers for them.

Rally for Rich & Robin's Healing Fund

Hi, my name is Rebecca Johnson and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my father, Anthony Johnson, or as many of you know him, AJ.

My dad went to court on September 16th to try to gain full custody of my little brother. Unfortunately, the court session went terribly, as his mother’s lawyer called in a surprise witness. This witness was crucial to the ruling the judge gave, which was that Anthony would not be allowed to see Jake until 12/15/24, just days before Christmas. On top of not being able to see his son, my dad now also has to pay for his ex-wife’s lawyer fees (25k), and for 3 programs: alienation intervention, batterers intervention, and anger management.

If you know my dad, you know that he is the biggest softie in the world, despite his muscular frame. He would never lay hands on a woman, and he has never been the type to blow up. My father does not employ alienation techniques, which Jake’s mother's lawyers also claimed. This was particularly ironic to me, because Rachel had tried to convince my dad that me and my siblings “weren’t his real family” and that he shouldn’t spend too much time with us when we were in Texas. As a child, I only got to see my dad for 3 months each year, sometimes less. For her to claim alienation is absolutely absurd. On multiple occasions, I have heard my father defend her to Jake when he would express his negative feelings about her. My father doesn’t need to employ alienation techniques; my ex-stepmom, conversely, has done so in my experience.

My dad is not the type to ask for help. He’s a proud, stubborn mfer (respectfully), but this time he could use a little help. Between the 25k for his ex-wife’s lawyer fees (I’ve told him no more redheads), 3-6k for the programs, and his own lawyer fees, he’s gonna be extremely financially strained. This was done explicitly by the judge to try to keep the case from coming back to court.

My dad will not give up on Jake. He loves my brother so much, and he just wants to make sure he gets the best childhood possible.

We appreciate anything that you are able to give. We are hopeful that everything will turn out okay.

Many have asked for a way to provide support for Sarah, Travis, and children (4-yr, 3-yr, and 9-mo) as they go through this unimaginably difficult time. To be frank and brief, the statistics for stage 4 adrenocortical carcinoma project a 1-yr survival timeline - a tough road to walk in many aspects, including financially.

Sarah is a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and mother. She did not ask for this page to be created - please take this opportunity to show Sarah and family just how much she means to all of us.

Here is the story, in Sarah's words:

God has blessed us with a community of family and friends that know how to show up. I have tried my best to try and keep people as updated as possible but things can change quickly and it’s hard to update when there are a lot of unknowns. Travis and I are going try to update this group as we are able.

How did we get here?
Starting in the middle of June or so I started having a pain along my spine in the middle of my back. I started getting adjustments and a few massages but it didn’t seem to improve which is unusual. As time went on I noticed I wasn’t eating as much, kind of nauseous on occasion and there were days where I would be extremely tired. My next thought was maybe this was part of postpartum side effects or maybe diet related... then at the end of June I developed a cough that ended up lasting for 3 weeks, but I didn’t have any symptoms of being sick. July 5th is when I first went to my PCP and laid out all these things. A complete panel of blood work was ordered and the only level off was a liver enzyme called AST, which was high. Something that can cause it to be high is taking Tylenol, which I had been for my back. My PCP wanted me to not take Tylenol for 2 weeks and retest, which we did. The AST came back higher the second time. I scheduled a follow up appointment for the following day as it seemed my other symptoms were getting worse, including pain along my left ribs. After a physical exam it was thought that my spleen was enlarged and so additional blood work was ordered as well as a CT Scan of my abdomen. The next day my PCP called to discuss the results which included a tumor the size of an orange between my kidney and adrenal gland as well as lesions in my lungs. He suggested I go to The James at OSU to be admitted through the ER sooner rather than later.

After over a week of testing, waiting on the biopsy report, and being readmitted due to blood clots we have made enough progress to finally have a name for the cancer: Adrenocortical Carcinoma. I’m still waiting to meet with the specialists (probably next week) to discuss treatment plans, prognosis, etc, but this is what we know now; it’s a fairly rare type of cancer and it seems to be aggressive.

But you know what we also know? God is good and He is still on the throne in Heaven. He cares for us and He hears our prayers. We take Him at His word that He will never leave us or forsake us, come what may.

Continuing to wait in the unknown feels almost unbearable at times. It’s hard to not allow your mind to wander to the what ifs. In those moments I’m trying to focus on the ways God has been working. One specific prayer request was answered today which was getting the pathology report back. There was talk about this being delayed because of needing an additional biopsy. Reece also starts preschool on Wednesday and I have so been looking forward to starting our school journey as a family. I so badly want to be able to be there to drop him off and pick him up for his first day and it looks like that might be possible too as there is discussion of discharging home tomorrow.

We have also been blown away by how God has been using all of you to support us during our time of need. The food, help with childcare, visiting at the hospital, gifts, money, cards, cleaning, texts, mowing, weed eating, prayers, cleaning our van, laundry… I don’t think I can even name all the ways people have blessed us and I’m sorry if I didn’t mention something. Just know that we definitely feel the love and support and are eternally grateful for all of you.

Help Dereck with medical expenses

My name is Jessica Schlitter and I am Jason Pagan’s fiancé and organizer of this GoFundMe campaign for Jason’s recovery.

It has been over two years since Jason has been able to eat food by mouth. Here is his story:

Background

In May of 2017 Jason Pagan was involved in a tragic accident that nearly took his life. First responders airlifted him to the nearest level one trauma hospital. Immediately after arrival Jason received a tracheostomy, was placed on ventilator support, and put into a chemically induced comatose state. After the trauma team was able to stabilize Jason he was brought to the operating room where several surgeons worked diligently to stop the multiple areas of bleeding, clean and close his wounds. Jason suffered head-to-toe trauma including a traumatic brain injury, three broken vertebrae, broken ribs, a collapsed right lung, a crushed right forearm with massive tissue loss, a broken left leg with massive tissue loss and nerve damage, and multiple lacerations.

Aside from the brain injury, the worst injury was to Jason’s face. You see, over 70% of Jason’s mandible (lower jaw) was ripped out in the accident and the remaining portion of his mandible was severely broken. To make matters worse Jason lost his tongue. In a matter of seconds Jason’s ability to eat and drink had been taken away from him. Due to the loss of his tongue and need for significant facial reconstructive surgery, Jason had a gastrostomy tube (g-tube) inserted into his stomach, a medical device that he uses to this day for receiving medications and nutrition.

In the beginning Jason’s overall prognosis was somewhat unclear. The neurosurgery team kept him in a chemically induced comatose state to give time for his brain to recover from the initial trauma. Each evening the neurosurgery team would pause the medications and wake him up. The goal was to assess his neurological status. I will never forget the first time he began to wake up. The lower half of his face was wrapped in blood-soaked gauze and he was unable to talk, but I repeatedly called his name and he opened his eyes and looked right at me, slowly raised his hand and held my face. I knew in that moment that he still knew who I was, and I was confident that he was “still in there”, so to speak.

The following weeks in intensive care consisted of monitoring the pressure in Jason’s brain, weaning him off of the ventilator, going to OR for wound washouts, wound vac changes, skin grafts, reconstructive surgery on his right arm, and reconstructive surgery on the right side of his jaw to stabilize what was left of the fragmented mandible. After spending four weeks in intensive care at Good Samaritan he was transferred to Rush University Medical Center for another round of reconstructive surgery on his jaw. Soon after surgery Jason was stable enough to begin the inpatient rehabilitation program at Rush where he relearned how to do the things that we don’t think twice about, like walking and learning how to communicate and speak without a tongue. Jason has exceeded the doctors’ expectations every step of the way, and true to his nature he has remained positive.

After two months of being in the hospital Jason was finally released home to continue his recovery and outpatient therapy, but the surgeries would continue. On Halloween 2018 Jason underwent a 12-hour surgery where his right fibula was removed and transplanted to the left side of his lower jaw to fill in the missing bone. The recovery from this surgery took nearly a year to fully heal, however the anatomy of his jaw at this moment has left him with a very steep slope. Jason manages his saliva secretions with a portable suction machine, which he must always keep with him, and is still unable to eat by mouth.

Recommended Treatment

The next phase in his recovery includes yet another major surgery on his lower jaw. Like all the surgeries before, this surgery is very complex. The craniofacial surgeon will need to take bone from his hip, transplant it to his jaw and reposition the angle of his jaw. The goal is for his lower jaw to have proper alignment and close correctly with the upper jaw so that Jason can manage his saliva without use of a suction machine and provide the proper anatomy for chewing food.

However, in order to proceed with this surgery, the craniofacial surgeon needs Jason’s upper teeth restored in order to create a “home base” from which to plan where, and how, he will reconstruct the lower jaw. Although damage to Jason’s teeth was the result of a traumatic injury, and the need to restore them is medically necessary, insurance will not cover the cost of restoring his teeth.

Without the restoration of his teeth, Jason will not be able to proceed with the next surgery to restructure his jaw so he can eat again.

If, however, we can raise money to restore his teeth, we will be able to proceed with the reconstruction of Jason’s mandible so that we can finally reach the last phase of Jason’s recovery…a tissue transplant to create a “pseudo tongue”. This “pseudo tongue” will be made from one of the muscles in Jason’s arm which will be transplanted into his mouth where his tongue once was. Although this muscle will never move like a tongue does, it will provide the bulk needed to help Jason push food to the back of this throat.

Where Your Donation Will Go

Our goal is to raise at least $8000 to help Jason with the following:

1) Restoring his upper teeth so we can proceed with surgical planning for the reconstruction of his lower jaw.

2) Intensive outpatient speech therapy rehabilitation which will include swallowing therapy, which Jason will need to help him relearn how to eat.

3) Any other out-of-pocket expenses that he may incur during his rehabilitation, including supplies for his suction machine.

More Background on Jason and Jessica (campaign organizer)

Jason is a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, fiancé and colleague. Prior to the accident, Jason was working his dream job with an amazing group of people, with plans on purchasing a home and planning for our wedding. Jason is and always has been a very positive person who always looks at the cup half full. He is a very happy person who can make friends with anyone. Despite the challenges of everyday life, he remains positive and hopeful for the future. He wants nothing more than to put his recovery behind him and get back to living the life he once knew. Jason is the strongest man I have ever known. He has endured so much from this change of life, but he remains positive and he works hard everyday to get stronger and push forward with his recovery. I am proud to say that Jason has been my best friend and significant other for the past sixteen years. He makes me a better person and inspires me in so many ways.

Thank you for reading Jason’s story. We deeply appreciate any help or contribution, no matter how big or small! We understand that some people cannot afford to provide a monetary donation, if this is the case, we would truly appreciate any prayers, love, or good vibes that you can offer us. For those of you that have helped Jason already, please know that we will be forever grateful for your generosity, because it helped him get to where he is today!

We also want to thank the numerous doctors, nurses, therapists and health care staff at Advocate Good Samaritan, Rush University Medical Center, and University of Illinois Craniofacial Institute for providing outstanding, life saving medical care. Your excellence in care saved Jason's life and we are forever grateful!

Please feel free to share our campaign link on social media and with your friends and family. We will keep everyone posted on Jason’s progress moving forward and on the use of funds for his recovery. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly.

Aaron Ray - Injury Recovery

Hello Friends and family! A friend and colleague of mine suffered extensive tornado damage to his family's home and two vehicles. One vehicle was designed for wheelchair access. I am raising money to assist the family with emergency expenses and to cover things insurance may not. For all of my Liberty Mutual friends, Ryan Stewart is no stranger to us. He's a member of the Ladder Now family and has bailed all of us out a time or two at the drop off a hat. It's time to show our thanks and return the favor. Please do what you can to help. Every little bit helps.
