<p>This fundraiser is to help offset both the veterinary and rx costs that I will incur during Petunia's 84 day FIP treatment.

<p>Petunia just celebrated her 10th purrthday back in May. She is the sole surviving member of her litter. Her half brother, Fig, &amp; her 2 sissies, Willow, &amp; Buttercup, crossed over young. 
</p><br /><br />
<p>Toonie started acting "off" a couple of weeks ago &amp; I thought she was going blind a little too quickly. She was eating ravenously so I thought hyperthyroidism. Toonie was also losing weight a little too quickly. She was also experiencing a misstep here or there but I attributed that to her sudden blindness. 
</p><br /><br />
<p>We went to see the vet on Friday because she wasn't eating much &amp; I had started her on an appetite stimulant to no effect. Physical exam, apart from blindness, was normal. Blood pressure normal. Heart &amp; lings normal. Blood &amp; urine all normal except for high protein in urine. A little bell started ringing in my ears. 
</p><br /><br />
<p>By Saturday, Toonie seemed more active but still wasn't eating. By Sunday, Toonie was falling over! Now, I was in a bit of a panic but that little alarm bell was louder! I thought even aggressive brain tumors don't act this quickly. This has to be viral. 
</p><br /><br />
<p>I called a friend in the FIP community &amp; I called my vet. My Vet couldn't believe her rapid decline and thought a neuro conault was in order. There was a possibility Toonie had a brain tumor. Her friend reminded her FIP will attack the CNS long before it enters the bloodstream. The high protein in her urine was consistent with FIP. 
</p><br /><br />
<p>By the afternoon, Toonie had received her first injection of GS-441524. By 7pm, 5 hours later, she walked, albeit wobbly &amp; with knees bent, but she walked to me for food! She ate &amp; her nystagmus had slowed! 
</p><br /><br />
<p>Because she has responded to GS, it is safe to assume Petunia has neurological FIP. She will be on treatment for the next 83 days, at the least. Hopefully, at some point, she will switch to pills, now legal here in the US, but for now, she is on daily injections. 
</p><br /><br />
<p>Please say a prayer for her. As this is a huge unexpected cost, any help is much appreciated.

<div>Mew was diagnosed with a fatal viral disease called Dry Ocular Neurological FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) at 3 months old. (Symptoms: Gastrointestinal issues, high fevers, Eye issues, bobbing his head back and forth, a mass under his tongue, crying when you picked him up, lethargy) Previously no treatment was available but thankfully this past May a drug called GS-441524 was approved to be shipped here from the UK by emergency drug release. When I tell you the difference in his symptoms in a 12 hour time span, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't believe me. It was like a miracle. Within a week Mew was a normal happy, crazy, energetic kitten for the very first time. For 84 days of treatment he was without issue. He grew in stature and in our hearts. Unfortunately, now at 7 months old and a week after stopping the medication, the symptoms have returned, meaning we didn't destroy it all the first time. Mew will now need double the dose for another 84 days which is double the cost ($6000 for the meds alone). Without it his brain and eyes are under attack, his whole body is sore and feverish. He shivers from anemia. He curls himself up into this little tight ball and doesn't move or eat. It is truly heartbreaking, and I am a mess. I have exhausted all my financial resources on the first round of treatment and have not yet had time to recover. I cannot afford an entire second round of medication at a higher strength/dose without help. The help of strangers. Please help me save Mew. In these difficult times I know how hard that is but if you could spare even a few dollars I would be forever grateful. I can't lose him now not when we are so close to him being cured. Help save Mew's life from FIP

<div>You might know him as @bubbles_norwegian_forest_cat on Instagram, or as Poets Square Dad. My dad--the gentlest, kindest man on earth who has a soft spots for cats in need--has a cat named Zadie, and Zadie needs our help.

<div>My dad adopted Zadie four years ago, when she was so shy she was nearly feral. He has not only won her over and turned her into a happy, social, confident cat, but has seen her through a thousand medical crises. Zadie has survived FIP, spent many nights at the emergency vet, seen specialists, taken daily medications for years, and just keeps rallying to keep living the good life with my dad. I think often about what would have happened to Zadie if she had been adopted by anyone else. I don't know anyone on earth who would continue to go to the lengths my dad has gone for a little cat.

<div>Most recently, Zadie was seen at the emergency vet for pancreatitis, and seemed to be managing symptoms well with medications at home, but then again took a turn for the worst. My dad spent Thanksgiving at the emergency vet again, monitoring her constantly. She stayed overnight so she could be seen by the internal medicine specialist. We know, as difficult as it is, that her lifespan will be shorter than most cats' and that at some point a decision will have to be made. But what agony to confront that decision without all the information. The very best thing we can do for Zadie right now, and for my dad, is to fund some additional testing so he can proceed with whatever is best for Zadie.

<div>I have to admit this is difficult for me to do. My name is Ron. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with HPV squamous cell throat cancer. While scanning the cancer an aneurysm was found on the right side of my brain. The doctors have decided that the first priority is the cancer.

<div>I have two masses in my glands just below my jaw on the right side as well as several lymph nodes and another mass on my tongue. I had surgery in March to remove the larger than a golf ball sized tumor from the base of my tongue. The surgeon was able to get most of it. This interior mass and subsequent surgery have affected my speech making me sound like I am eating with my mouth full. This may get better with treatment.

<div>I am now starting 5 days a week, 7+ weeks of chemotherapy, hydration, and radiation in the hopes I will not need further surgery. Once the cancer is cleared removal of the aneurysm will be the next course of action.

<div>I had a feeding tube, known as a G tube, inserted because the treatments would cause me to lose my sense of taste and may cause my throat to swell making eating very difficult. This could last for 4 months. I have already lost over 15% of my body weight. The G tube is to try to prevent more weight loss.

<div>I am asking for help to pay my out of pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance as well as the over the counter expenses for the feeding tube formula, special diet liquid foods, and supplies. I am also concerned about missing work and going on short term disability or Family Leave and losing a good portion of my wages. The uncertainty is the most difficult part of this journey.

<div>Franc is still with us! It’s hard to believe but our strong boy is still here, still loving, still eating and drinking and generally being amazing.

<div>He has however lost a lot of weight and been diagnosed with kidney disease. The money we raised originally has been spent on Franc’s maintenance! Vet visits, blood tests and various supplements. This was an end of life fundraiser I know, but it is still palliative care and our aim is to give Franc the best quality of life possible for as long as possible.

<div>I’ve kept the fundraiser open as people are still finding it and donating from time to time. Every penny still goes towards Franc, I just wanted to be transparent and clear with you all.

<div>Sweet Franc has a large and aggressive tumour in his mouth. At the moment it's not obstructing his breathing or eating, which is a blessing. However, the vet thinks that it will grow quite quickly and once he begins to stop eating or is unable to eat or if it obstructs his airway then there is nothing more that can be done. The vet has given a tentative 3 months prognosis. To say we're devasted is an understatement.

<div>Franc is such a cuddle monster and is never happier than when he is in your arms on in his baby sling attached to you! This diagnosis is so shocking because he doesn't appear unwell. He still runs around, eats, grooms and occasionally plays. It's so cruel that this is happening to him.

<div>We don't know at this point whether Franc will be at the vets or whether he'll be at home when the times comes, but it would be good to be prepared. Of course, I would prefer him to be at home when the time comes. He doesn't travel well and as with Benny, the less stress he can be under, the better.
</div>

<div>It's going to cost around £400 for Franc to be at home for his final journey and for us to have his ashes back. If you can help us out, we would be so grateful.

<div>In the meantime we will be showering our boy with as many cuddles as he wants and treating him to all his favourite things. As far as we know, he is in discomfort but not pain. He is on anti - inflammatories and we will make sure he won't suffer.

<div>We wanted to share an update on Bodhi’s progress. He recently had his vet appointment, and while we were hoping for better news, it turns out that all of his teeth will need to be removed to fully relieve his pain and improve his quality of life.

<div>Bodhi’s surgery has been scheduled for this coming Monday. It’s a big procedure, and he will need to stay overnight at the vet for monitoring. Though it’s a difficult step, we know it’s the best path forward for him to live a pain-free, happy life.

<div>One chilly morning, a kind-hearted Good Samaritan stepped out of her house, ready to start her day. The air was crisp, her breath visible in the cold as she walked toward her car. As she reached for the door, a faint sound stopped her in her tracks—a desperate, pleading meow.

<div>She followed the sound to the front of her car, and to her surprise, she spotted a pair of frightened blue eyes peering out from the grill. A young Siamese cat was trapped inside. She tried gently coaxing him out, but he wouldn’t budge, his tiny body trembling from fear and cold.

</div>
<div>Not wanting to leave him there, she called the fire department for help. A kind firefighter arrived, tools in hand, and together, they carefully freed the little cat. Shivering and clearly unwell, the young Siamese was carried to safety, and so began Bodhi’s journey.

<div>Bodhi was in rough shape. His rescuer immediately sought help from a local rescue group, who then reached out to Southern California Siamese Rescue. His foster mom took him straight to the vet, where he was diagnosed with a severe upper respiratory infection and tummy troubles caused by a parasite. But the most painful diagnosis of all was stomatitis.

<div>Stomatitis is a debilitating condition that causes ulcers and severe inflammation in a cat’s mouth, gums, cheeks, and tongue. The constant pain makes it difficult for them to eat, groom, or simply enjoy life. For Bodhi, the best chance at a pain-free life was clear: he would need surgery to remove most, if not all, of his teeth.

<div>Despite his challenges, Bodhi’s foster mom quickly realized there was something special about him. “He’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever fostered,” she said, and after 20 years in rescue, that was no small statement. Bodhi was a fighter, filled with love and resilience, even in the face of his struggles.

Support Bodhi's Journey to a Pain-Free Life

<div>Hi, my name is Melinda. I started fund-raising to get my gorgeous little tortoiseshell cat named Lucy, x-rays of her back for diagnosis and necessary treatment. She's a happy, active little girl who is treasured and enjoys a loving home, a catio attached to the house, and supervised garden time. Somehow she badly injured her back in the beginning of November. She was literally unable to walk and clearly in a lot of pain. We ended up at the Emergency Vet which was very costly. I'm on a disability pension and never have spare money or savings because Lucy also has 3 cat siblings and 3 dog siblings. I know that might seem crazy on a disability pension, but my financial circumstances were different when I rescued this house full. We're very fortunate that all are on the lease in the house we rent, and I'll do anything to keep them safe and happy. Thankfully, Lucy made a full recovery and was back to normal for a couple of weeks, but somehow she hurt her back again and because twice in exactly the same spot on her back can't be a coincidence, we were told it would be necessary to get expensive x-rays. Our vet has been good to us but he no longer accepts accounts (nor do any other vets in the area) and we already have a large outstanding balance, largely due to the onset of thyroid and kidney problems in my senior cat and the cost of her diagnosis and treatment. We fought hard to keep or senior Lilly healthy and happy, but sadly, we recently lost her. Her quality of life was compromised so I had to let her go, heartbreakingly, and her euthanasia used up the last of my approved Zip Pay of $1,000. The rest was used on Lucy's original Emergency Vet visit and (unbelievably) another Emergency Vet visit with her brother, Leroy, who had developed difficulty urinating and was in severe distress. I've also taken out a $750 loan which went straight to the vet. With all the repayments, various medications and special diets for this big family, there has been no way for me to save for vet visits. Thankfully, with the help of some wonderful people via this fund-raiser, I was able to take Lucy to the vet and discovered that she has nerve damage in her back left leg, possibly due to arthritis in her lower back. I've been told that there's nothing can be done but to administer anti-inflammatories and painkillers when she has a flair up. We've been told that these episodes will keep reoccurring throughout her life and are not preventable as they can literally be triggeredby jumping on to the bed. I will need to keep medications on hand. I'm very grateful for the help we have received, and to have a diagnosis for Lucy, but I hate the fact suspected arthritis is compressing nerves and affecting her in this manner. It's important that I have the meds on hand at all times so that I can reduce the inflammation and pain as quickly as possible. These meds are expensive and she will need 6 monthly return vet visits to renew the scripts as well as 6 monthly blood tests to check for side effects. I am still struggling with the outstanding vet bill and with meeting loan repayments, especially with a loan application error making it necessary to pay fortnightly instead of monthly. I also need to get my dog Penelope, and cats Lochie and Leroy to a vet for repeat prescriptions soon, and Leroy is in need of blood tests as he's losing weight and has started drinking a lot, and it will be necessary to check his kidney function. I'm doing everything I can to budget, but I need some help to pay off the outstanding vet bill, Zip Pay loan and the other loan in order to get my family to the vet as and when required. Any help at all is truly appreciated and will certainly be put to good use. I will pay it forward one day when I'm in a position to help people as I have done in the past ❤️

<div>We are so grateful for the breather that the money raised for Lucy's bills and previous accounts, gave us. We were able to catch up to the point that, although still with outstanding debts, we can afford vet visits again. Unfortunately, a recent trip for much-needed nail trimming for our senior dog (Max) resulted in the news that he needs surgery costing about $1,200 to $1,300. Although it appears that we already have sufficient funds in our GoFundMe, that money is from the original fund-raising for Lucy, and has already been used. On a disability pension, I'm unable to borrow enough for his surgery. I don't want anyone else to struggle, but small amounts add up. Please consider us if you can help. Even though he's 14.5, Max is an otherwise healthy dog. He's feeling pretty miserable right now, and I want to give him every chance at happiness

<div>Hi, I’m Elizabeth. In 2018, my Dad fell ill, and I moved to Virginia to care for him, putting all my belongings in storage and giving up my place.

<div>After he passed away, I went to Austin to support my Mom who also got sick. Three months in, I broke my leg and was stuck there for an additional three months. 
</div>

<div>During that time, I remotely supported a cat rescue and helped rescue cats from the California Camp Fire. Once healed, I drove to California to continue helping and adopt a special needs cat, Dusty, who had been badly burned in the fire. 
</div>

</div>
<div> Eventually, I landed in Rhode Island to retrieve my belongings, find a job, and secure a place to live. Then COVID hit. With no income and limited funds, I had few options and agreed to stay in an unkempt house in exchange for nominal rent, helping to clean it up. 
</div>

</div>
<div>I scrubbed the kitchen walls, threw out ancient food, and scoured the upstairs ( cat poop and pee) until it was liveable. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div> Despite my efforts, the house remained challenging due to too my roommates / landlords many animals, and her inability or desire to maintain the house or clean it at times. At $550 a month, it was all I could afford, and for the time, it was a blessing even with its downfalls. My little space upstairs was cool.

<div>In 2021, I secured a decent remote job that I loved. In 2023, I was saving to move out when I was affected by a mass layoff. 
</div>

<div>Since then, I’ve been working part-time and building a new business, but living in this environment has been incredibly challenging. I started a small business in career coaching and have been working part-time as a career coach for a major company. 
</div>

<div> Recently, the landlord I live with came into some money and now wants me out. Despite all the energy I put into improving her house, it is no longer a factor for her. In Rhode Island, there is nothing I can do about it. Tenant rights are nearly none existent.

<div> I urgently need to find a safe, clean space for myself, Dusty, and my senior cat Ruby. We will be without a place by August 1 without some assistance. I can pay the rent fine, but need money for the move, security, and deposit.

<div>Last Sunday, my sweet little boy Ollie (my 11 month old rescue cat) started acting lethargic, stopped eating, and was vomiting a lot. We took him to the vet to get checked out, which is when we discovered a huge mass in his descending colon, as well as a diagnosis of Dry FIP. FIP or Feline Infectious Peritonitis is a fast moving, fatal disease with no FDA approved treatment in the US. We were told that the FIP diagnosis and the added complication of the mass meant that my cat would need to be put down in the next few days. So we took Ollie home and tried to make him as comfortable as possible for his inevitable decline. There was a lot of crying and holding and wishing things were different. <div>I then reached out to 2theResQ!, the rescue we got Ollie from, to let them know of his grim prognosis, at which point they sprang into action and offered to do everything they could to save him. In a matter of hours, they had secured medicine to treat his FIP (medicine that is only available from other countries on the black market, due to a lack of FDA approval in the US), and got him his first injection. Within 24 hours he was already bouncing back, eating, and acting like his sweet self again. In doing further research, and talking to more “experts” on FIP, we’ve learned that a full course of treatment should make the mass in Ollie’s colon completely disappear, and also that it should cure his FIP. We have a light at the end of the tunnel.

<div>Now, this is the part we need help with. A full course of FIP treatment means 84 days of injections and/or pills sourced from other countries, 84 days of observation, and x-rays and bloodwork done once every 30 days within that 168 day window. If he makes it to the end of 168 days with no relapse, he’s considered cured. But of course there’s also a possibility that relapse could happen, in which case treatment would need to start over. All of this to say, we have a very long, very expensive road ahead of us. 2theResQ! has very generously offered to help with the cost of medication, but we need help supplementing the rest of his treatment (and I’d like to be able to donate funds back to 2theResQ! for generously saving my baby once more).

<div>We have multiple colonies on our block and most of these cats have not been to the vet in years! Managing a cat colony can be very expensive. With very little resources from our city, the burden of caring for our friends outdoors lies on kind and selfless individuals.

<div>My friend GiGi is not feeling so good and has stage 3 dental disease, Boris went to the vet and he definitely needs a dental, Fluffy is not so fluffy anymore, Lewis is drooling which means his mouth is painful, and Sweetie is not feeling so sweet right now.

<div>It costs approximately $650 per cat for updated medical care which includes FVRCP &amp; Rabies vaccinations, flea meds, ear mite treatment, and even more if they need a dental. There are over 10 cats in this block alone who could use our help.
