<div>Early Tuesday morning at 6 AM, my niece Nikki experienced every family’s worst nightmare. While her husband, Larry  and boys—9th and 11th graders—were at the gym, Nikki was home asleep. Their loyal dog suddenly woke her, alerting her to danger. When she opened her eyes, the back of their house was already engulfed in flames.

<div>Thanks to their dog’s quick instincts, Nikki made it out safely. But within moments, their entire home was lost.

<div>This incredible family from Mississippi lost everything except the clothes they were wearing. All memories, furniture, school supplies, personal belongings, and essentials are gone. They are now starting from absolute zero.

Almost 4 weeks ago when Alex's accident happened, this Go Fund Me was created in hopes that we could all rally together to support the Martinez family as they faced many uncertainties, and look at all that has been accomplished through prayer!!!  I know the biggest ask has always been the prayers, and the Martinez family is thankful beyond words for all the prayers, support, and encouragement they have experienced so far.  Becky has expressed she is "blown away" by everyone's kindness and generosity.  That being said, now that we have a better understanding of the extent of Alex's injuries and the long road ahead that will restore him to complete healing, I increased the GFM goal to help cover the exponential medical expenses.  The level of care that Alex will need to fully heal will be an intensive and costly process and it would be great if we could all continue to share the GFM with family and friends so it grows and helps cover many of the medical expenses that will be incurred over a span of multiple out-of-pocket deductibles. <div>On Monday, April 7 2025, Alex Martinez was involved in a motor vehicle accident that has left him in the ICU with significant injuries. He is currently in a coma, and the Martinez family would like to first ask for continued prayers for Alex for complete healing. They are currently facing a long and uncertain road full of time away from work, extremely high medical expenses, unexpected daily living costs, and other unpredictable needs. <div>Recently, Trae Gauna has recently been involved in a multiple car accident with a head on collision, on Sunday May 20th, 2024, leaving him to be extracted from the car by the emergency crew and air lifted from Katy, TX to Downtown Houston for urgent medical care. This accident has left him with severe injuries and piling medical bills.

<div>Trae broke his lower back, hand, foot and heel, a torn abdomen causing internal injury, and a broken collarbone. He has had 3 surgeries so far and is expected to have a long road to recovery.

<div>After many long years of using tarps and blankets to keep the dogs in the outside kennels warm at Fort Bend County Animal Services during the cold weather months, Fort Bend PAWS and the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court were able to install garage doors this year.

<div>Now, it's time to install the heating element! Fort Bend PAWS will match up to $6250 in donations, hoping to raise a total of $12,500 which will then be matched by Fort Bend County to complete the job.

As you have heard the devastating news, many of you have been asking if there is a Gofundme to support Glen and Laura. So here it is. <br /><br />Obviously, the Elders would never ask for support, but we are so grateful to anyone who would considering giving. We know these are trying times with so many people on reduced salaries so pleasee do not feel pressure if you can’t give financially. Pray for the Elder’s! Write letters of support to them! Consider writing something to voice your opinions to Camp and the board.<br /><br />The Elders are truly touched that so many people have reached out wanting to help. They are overwhelmed with the amount of messages and comments they have already received. Keep it up! We are thankful for this body of people who love so well! We know that it is completely inspired by the love of God working through the Elders! God is the head of camp, our campers are the heart, and the Elders are the arms and legs that have worked so faithfully for 15 years to make camp what it is. Thank you! #betterbecauseofanElder

Better Because of an Elder

My friend Henry lives in a dilapidated house in Houston, with no heat, no running water, and yet he took in a pack of 6 stray dogs and gives them a place to call home.  Spends his soc security check on his bills, meager groceries and bags of dog food. He bought and installed plywood to block the wind from his front porch and set up 3 big dog houses in there with every blanket he could find and afford in local yard sales. We spayed 2 of his 3 females, but Diabla wouldn’t let us catch her before she got pregnant. We now have her set up in an enclosure behind his house, blocked from the wind, with an insulated dog house. She gave birth 3 weeks ago and the 6 puppies are doing well. 

The nights are getting colder. Henry checks on his dogs and puppies constantly. And I check on Henry every day. Last week, we came together as a community and got him clothes and blankets, and several items to make him feel warmer during this upcoming winter. But his house is cold and the wiring is so bad we can’t trust putting a big heater in there without the fear of causing a fire. 

Jason Wicks, a wonderful Friendswood electrician, met me at Henry’s and gave a very generous bid to bring the wiring up to code in Henry’s house, which involves a ton of work. He expects it will take only about $3000 to get the job done!

Ricky Stephenson, of Sonny’s Plumbing,  is going to do a full repipe, replace 2 toilets, 2 sinks, and his bathtub for only $1,000!!! That’s giving away his service!!!

Helping Henry Get Power

Reagan and her sister ended up at the local shelter when they were small pups, and didn't have the best start in life. Fortunately, HPA! gave them a second chance, and the pair were beginning to come out of their shells.<br /><br />Now Reagan, only 5 months old, is fighting for her life. She has an intestinal blockage that requires immediate, life-saving surgery. After everything this little girl has been through, we are determined to get her through this.<br /><br />Please help us give puppy Reagan this chance at life! Pup Reagan needs emergency surgery!

On the night of Saturday, September 9, 2017, our beautiful Tammy has gone to be with the Lord. Tammy was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer back in May and has been on a medical and health roller coaster ride ever since.  Cindy and Tammy's family had been by her side 100% of the time. <br /><br />Cindy and the Tadlock family are working to make all of the arrangements but as many of you know, expenses are high to give our loved ones the proper burial and services they deserve.  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated and no donation is too small.<br /><br />I know Cindy and the Tadlock family will be forever greatful for anything their friends and family can do in this time of need.

Thanks for taking the time to check out our gofundme page! I am a co-worker and dear friend of D and her spouse, Michele. It was shocking and saddening to recently learn of Michele's stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis. She is having a mastectomy on Friday March 25th, with another one possibly to follow depending on lab results. The post surgery treatment will include radiation and or chemotherapy. They are being advised to move due to some mold issues in their home and Michele's soon to be suppressed immune system. The severity of the situation and the mounting medical expenses is overwhelming, to say the least.<br />If you know this couple, you will know the numerous ways (big&amp;small) they help others all the time. In order to ease a bit of the burden, I was inspired to reach out for help on their behalf. Any funds raised will go directly to Michele's medical expenses.
