<p>Hi, my name is Magdalena. I'm only 46 years old and can't live my life anymore... 
</p><br />
<p>This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do – ask for help. 
</p><br />
<p>For years, I was the one helping others. I supported people, worked with communities, helped families, often without asking for anything in return. I always believed I would manage on my own. 
</p><br />
<p>But I can’t anymore. 
</p><br />
<p>For over 4 years I have been living with a severe spinal condition. I have three disc herniations, compression on four nerves, and progressive neurological damage plus other severe spine conditions. My condition has now reached the point where I can no longer walk independently. I am often unable to stand or move without assistance and rely on a wheelchair. Which I'm still not ready for :-( 
</p><br />
<p>After years of delays, failed referrals, and being left without proper treatment, I now have to start the entire process again from the beginning in a different hospital — despite already going through 4 years of assessments and being qualified for surgery before. 
</p><br />
<p>Recently, during an emergency visit, when ambulance took me to Emergency Department overnight, I was told I would not be operated on yet “because I am not incontinent.” That moment broke something in me. 
</p><br />
<p>I am also living with severe psoriatic arthritis affecting my spine and joints, which makes the pain even worse. I am on strong medications, just to get through the day. 
</p><br />
<p>On top of this, my mental health has collapsed under the weight of constant pain and stress. I have severe clinical depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. 
</p><br />
<p>I am a mother of three children who all need me. 
</p><br />
<p>My eldest son has a rare, life-threatening genetic condition. 
</p>
<p>My 18-year-old son has autism , Tourette's syndrome, spd, ocd, dyspraxia. 
</p>
<p>My daughter has autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, sensory processing disorder. 
</p><br />
<p>I need to be mobile. I need to be there for them. 
</p><br />
<p>Right now, I can’t. 
</p><br />
<p>I have found a specialist neurosurgical centre in Wrocław, Poland, where this surgery can be performed without further delay. 
</p><br />
<p>The total cost of surgery, travel, rehabilitation and care is approximately £30/40K. The same treatment in the UK would cost significantly more and, more importantly, involve long waiting times that I simply cannot afford medically. 
</p><br />
<p>This surgery could stop further nerve damage and give me a chance to walk again. 
</p><br />
<p>I have tried everything before coming here. I contacted PALS, spinal teams, doctors, and multiple services asking for help. I was ignored or left waiting. 
</p><br />
<p>I found a solution that could give me my life back — I just need help to make it happen. 
</p><br />

<p>To najtrudniejsza rzecz, jaką kiedykolwiek musiałam zrobić – poprosić o pomoc. 
</p><br />
<p>Przez lata to ja pomagałam innym. Wspierałam ludzi, prowadziłam pomoc, pomagałam rodzinom, często za darmo. Robiłam zbiórki, pomagałam na wielu płaszczyznach... Zawsze mówiłam, że dam sobie radę sama. 
</p><br />
<p>Dziś już nie mogę. Przekroczyłam jakąś barierei zostałam w niej w niemocy... 
</p><br />
<p>Od ponad 4 lat choruję na poważne schorzenie kręgosłupa. Mam trzy przepukliny, ucisk na cztery nerwy i postępujące uszkodzenia neurologiczne oraz inne choroby kręgosłupa od karku aż po kość ogonową. . W tej chwili nie jestem w stanie normalnie chodzić. Często nie mogę wstać ani się poruszać bez pomocy, korzystam z wózka lub chodzika.

<p>Po latach opóźnień, błędów i braku leczenia muszę zaczynać całą procedurę od nowa w innym szpitalu – mimo że wcześniej przez 4 lat, przechodziłam kwalifikację do operacji. 
</p><br />
<p>Ostatnio na SOR , kiedy kolejny raz wypadly mi 3 te same dyski, a uciski na nerwy zdobyly szczyt 4rech, usłyszałam, że nie zostanę zoperowana, bo „jeszcze nie sikam pod siebie”. To mnie złamało. Naprawdę. Ostro.

<p>Dodatkowo choruję na ciężkie łuszczycowe zapalenie stawów, które obejmuje oś kręgosłupa, polaczenie krzyżowo biodrowe i wszystkie stawy, co potęguje ból. Jestem na silnych lekach, w tym opioidach. Uzależniono mnie od nich, przepisujac latami, zamiast operacji. 
</p><br />
<p>Moje zdrowie psychiczne jest w bardzo złym stanie – mam ciężką depresję, lęki i ataki paniki. 
</p>
<p>Nie mam siły z nikim rozmawiać ani nikogo widywać. Ja, osoba kochająca ludzi i kontakt z nimi. 
</p><br />
<p>Jestem mamą trójki dzieci, które mnie potrzebują. 
</p>
<p>Mój najstarszy syn ma rzadką, zagrażającą życiu chorobę genetyczną. 
</p>
<p>18-letni syn ma autyzm, Syndrom Touretta, ocd, sod, dyspraxia, adhd i nie jest do końca samodzielny. 
</p>
<p>Córka ma autyzm, ADHD, dyspraxję i zaburzenia sensoryczne. 
</p><br />
<p>Muszę być sprawna. Muszę się nimi opiekować. 
</p><br />
<p>Teraz nie jestem w stanie. 
</p><br />
<p>Znalazłam specjalistyczną klinikę w Polsce, we Wrocławiu, Wojskowy Szpital z super dobrymi neurochirurgami, gdzie mogę mieć operację bez dalszego czekania. 
</p><br />
<p>Całkowity koszt leczenia, transportu i rehabilitacji to około 30.000/40 000 funtów. 
</p><br />
<p>Ta operacja może zatrzymać uszkodzenia nerwów i dać mi szansę znowu chodzić. 
</p><br />
<p>Zanim tu trafiłam, próbowałam wszystkiego – pisałam do PALS, lekarzy, zespołów specjalistów, różnych innych instytucji. Nikt mi realnie nie pomógł. 
</p><br />
<p>Znalazłam rozwiązanie, które pozwoli mi wrócić do życia — potrzebuję wsparcia, żeby je zrealizować.

Help me walk again – urgent spinal surgery in Poland.

<div>we are reaching out to you during an incredibly challenging time for our dear friends, Sophie and Prash.
</div>

<div>On 24th November, during Storm Bert, their cottage was severely flooded with over 2 feet of water. After 4 hours of desperately trying to protect their home in vain, they were eventually rescued by the fire service and lifted to safety. Along with losing almost all their possessions, they’ll be out of their home for a year, with the cost of repairs in excess of £150,000.

<div>Heartbreakingly, it has now come to light that the house has a history of repeated flooding. Being unaware of this, Sophie and Prash had no idea of the risks and actually spent the first half of Storm Bert helping their elderly neighbour avoid flooding in his house. While there are ongoing investigations by local councils into the causes of the flooding, it is still unclear if, when and how much remedial action will be taken to prevent this happening yet again.
</div>
<div>Given this, they have taken the very difficult decision to install a cavity drainage system with sump pumps to try to flood-proof their home and give them much needed peace of mind.
</div>
<div>The cost of this system is £53,923, with an additional estimated cost of £10-15,000 for enabling works. They had initially been told they would qualify for a ‘Build Back Better’ £10,000 grant from the Government to go towards flood defences. It now transpires that although their insurance company is part of the Government scheme, their policy had been sold off and they now don’t qualify. As you can imagine, it’s another blow during a very tough time.

<div>Before the flood, 2024 had been a brutal year for Prash and Sophie. In December of 2023, Prash became seriously ill with what has now, over a year later, been diagnosed as Brain Inflammation. It has left him struggling with basic tasks, and, at its worst he is unable to read or cross roads safely, leaving him at points totally dependent on Sophie.
</div>
<div>Before the flood they had struggled through a year of desperately fighting for a diagnosis and effective treatment to give Prash a quality of life. They’ve already had to spend over £20,000 on unexpected medical bills not funded by the NHS. The added stress of the flood and not being in a familiar, safe environment, has further exacerbated his symptoms.

<div>Sophie spends on average 2-4 days a week managing the unbelievably large amount of admin associated with the flood. Teamed with frequent hospital appointments, it leaves little time to run a business or take any down time. Their rainy day fund is running dry.
</div>
<div>Over the years, Prash and Sophie have raised over £12,000 for charity. Now is the time we want to help them, by easing some of the financial strain in this devastating time. We are hoping to raise funds to help them make the second installment payment for the necessary flood defences, to secure their home against future flooding.
</div>

<div>Their home is quite literally their safe space, from allergens, germs and a place of peace and quiet. Critically it is also their place of work. The flood has disrupted every aspect of their lives, and the constant uncertainty of future flooding has placed an unbearable amount of stress on them. Without proper flood defences, and given the new information which has come to light, there’s a very real risk of losing everything again.

<div>Alaia Bukharbayeva has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-II with 85% of cancer cells. She is now required to undergo 6-9 blocks of chemotherapy. Each block takes around 2 months of chemo costs $12,000 USD  (18300 AUD) per month in Acibadem Altunizade Hospital, excluding costs for imported medicines $4,200 USD (18300AUD) per block, additional research and analysis.

<div>Hi, we are Jerry and Mike. Since April 2022 we have been raising funds for trips to take humanitarian aid to Poland / Ukraine for distribution to Ukrainian people either there or into Ukraine itself. We have already completed 12 trips with various types of aid.

<div>Next, in May 2026 we are planning to embark on our 13th trip to the Lviv area. We will be supporting charities in Ukraine with c. 1.3 tonnes of aid.

<div> Like many people, we want to do something to help, until recently we delivered from a large collection and distribution centre in Banbury. However, this has had to close, so now we source aid from various places.

<div>We take large amounts of aid of all types to fulfil specific requests from the region (medical supplies, clothing, dried food, toiletries &amp; other essentials).

<div>We have supported many women who have children with special needs. (Of course, most Ukrainian men between 18 and 60 years old must stay and work or fight).

<div> However, these trips have only made it clear to us how much aid and support is needed on an ongoing basis for the foreseeable future.

<div> So, we plan to keep seeking donations and plan further support. Each trip costs at least £1,800 (We usually have use of a free van, but we have to pay for fuel, channel crossing, basic accommodation, etc. We buy our own meals).

<div> We initially set a goal of raising £4,000, now raised to £25,000 but we want to <strong>significantly exceed</strong> this target because the need is so great.
