Gina Lacagnina and I met through mutual friends, and over time, I’ve come to know her as someone who is always ready to help others. She’s the kind of person who would be the first to step up for someone in need, never asking for anything in return. But now, Gina is facing one of the toughest battles of her life, and she needs our help more than ever.
Last September, Gina was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She’s preparing for a double mastectomy with lymph node involvement, and the financial burden has been overwhelming. Like so many others caught in the crossfire of health insurance and lack of coverage, Gina is devastated financially. She’s a single woman trying to stay alive and make ends meet, all while facing mounting medical bills and expenses. Her health insurance is a major expense, and she has a significant deductible to meet. On top of that, she’ll need to cover her house payment, utilities, food, and all her living expenses while she recovers from surgery. Ideally, we’d also like to hire someone to be with her for the first two weeks after her operation, as her oncologist estimates it will take at least two months before she can return to work.
Gina is not someone who would ever ask for help or money, but today, she’s at a point where she truly needs her community to come forward. If you know what it’s like to struggle, even a few dollars can make a world of difference. Gina has spent her life being a giver, and now it’s our turn to give back to her. This is a crisis situation, and if you were in her shoes, I know you’d hope for the same kindness. I’m always asking for prayer, and I know Gina believes in the power of prayer too—she often says, “God is getting me through this.” She’s anxious about these surgeries, and I just wish we could collect all the money needed quickly so she can start on the path to healing. Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser. Your support, prayers, and generosity mean everything right now.
