This campaign is dedicated to raising the portion of funds explicitly for displaced families in need. We aim to centralize contributions from across networks and organizations, guaranteeing that each and every dollar reaches local communities as quickly as possible in order to get urgently needed humanitarian relief directly to the many families whose homes and towns have been destroyed.

<div>On October 7th, 2023 terrorists invaded Israel and tortured, raped, brutally murdered, and kidnapped innocent civilians, including women and children leading to the largest massacre against the Jewish community since the Holocaust, the magnitude of which – relative to the Israeli population – is more than 10x that of the 9/11 tragedy.

<div>While the support from around the world has been overwhelmingly inspiring, the current government-provided stipend equates to a meager $250 per family, covering about one and a half weeks of groceries for a family of four. It is our mission to ensure we do our part to support these families for years to come.

<div><strong>All proceeds flow through the Jewish Federations of North America and directly to local community organizations, ensuring we can make the quickest and biggest impact on families in their time of greatest need. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.</strong>

Wildfire 2023 Relief Fund

<div>Our 8-year old son, Asa – soccer enthusiast, math wizard, and devoted brother and friend – was struck by a stray bullet while riding in our car on the freeway in Oakland. Bullet and bone fragments pierced (and some lodged in) the spinal column of his neck. Initially, we had no idea if our sweet boy would live.

<div>But he is a fighter, and we have gotten and are getting the best possible medical care.

<div>Two weeks later, Asa is not only alive, but he’s making us laugh, reading his favorite books and requesting songs by Imagine Dragons. His intellect, his spirit, and his love of life are very much intact.

<div>His body is forever changed. At this point, he is experiencing complete paralysis below the neck. We are profoundly relieved that our boy is alive and very much himself, and we are also starting to understand the vast implications of his new reality. The kids are waking up with bloody noses and only play outside in the heat. The kids are full of life and are ages 3, 5, and 6. They have never been to school. They would love to go bowling, or do any fun kid activities. Hugh is 61, originally from Belize, and he is a single father who is eager to work in any way.

Homeless Children Living in Car

<div>As many of you know, Sharon (Sonia for most of us) was recently admitted to Brigham and Women’s Neurology ICU for life-saving surgery and has had quite the journey ever since. But before we dive into her recovery, I would like to tell you a little bit about who she is.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>First and foremost, she is a mother to three (plus a pup), and she does not take that role lightly. Grinding her way from minimum wage to support her kids to an extremely successful career in pharmaceuticals, with the sole intention of being able to give, she is quite the role model. If you have met Sonia, it does not take long before you start to see her resilience and determination in everything that she does. If you haven't, don't worry. I am trying to convince her to write a book.
</div>

<div>If she's not donating to elephant rescues, she's donating to ocean clean-up funds. If she's not buying pastries for whoever pops up in her head, it's because she's baking for them instead. If there is one thing you can take away from this, it is that she loves to do little things for others.
</div>

<div>And now, we are hoping that others can return the same kindness and support.

<div>Sonia returned from her 50th birthday trip with what the urgent care determined to be a sinus infection. After several days of taking antibiotics, her symptoms began to worsen. Waking up in the middle of the night with a fever, severe headache, and nausea, she recognized something was wrong. She noticed her confusion as she tried to signal to her fiance for help and told him to call an ambulance. Arriving at the nearest hospital, they determined she would need a life-saving craniotomy. The family was immediately notified to get up to Boston as soon as possible, the prognosis was not looking good.
</div>

</div>
<div>Sonia was rushed to Brigham and Women's Neuro ICU, where Dr. Bi and her team fought to save her life. Two hours later, the surgery was a success. The neuro team was able to evacuate most of the blood and relieve some of the swelling. However, this raised the next question. Why did this happen to a very active, healthy, 50-year-old woman? Sonia's sinus infection was looking a lot more like meningitis. The inflammation from meningitis and the rare occasion where birth control can increase your risk for blood clots created what they called "the perfect storm". She developed Venus Sinus Thrombosis on the left side of her brain travelling from the occipital lobe to the thalamus. The left side then started to hemorrhage. The bleeding and inflammation were so severe, it created a midline shift of 12-14 mm, herniating her brain stem.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Induced and on life support, we had very little idea what her outcome would be. It took three and a half weeks on the ventilator, in the Neuro ICU, for her to stabilize. Her reflexes were minimal. Her pupils slowly started to become more even, and the clot was starting to break apart due to the therapeutic levels of the blood thinner. Sonia received a tracheostomy, to wean from the sedation. Several days went by, and she started to wake up. However, her limbs were not moving as anticipated. They determined she was suffering from Critical Illness Myopathy due to laying still for so many weeks at a time, losing a significant amount of muscle mass.
</div>

</div>
<div>A week and a half after waking, she was transferred to Long Term Acute Care to start her rehabilitation. She has been in LTAC for two weeks now and like the determined and hard-working woman she is, is making a great and speedy recovery. Her trach has been removed. She walked her first steps this week, is learning to speak again, and regaining movement in the right side of her body. Some longer-term obstacles she will be tackling are aphasia and apraxia. A brain injury this severe in the impacted areas has affected her memory, her language, and her speech. She will continue to rehabilitate at the LTAC before moving to outpatient physical therapy.
</div>

<div>This tragic experience will, unfortunately, affect Sonia's ability to return to work and live her normal life. To have everything she has worked so hard for stripped away, this will no doubt take its toll. Losing that financial stability and gaining these medical bills, you can imagine how much stress this brings. We are hoping to raise money to help support our incredibly strong mom and give back to someone who has spent her lifetime giving.

<div>On Monday, July 24, 2023, my nephew's son Nathan who is 4 years old had a cardiac arrest was performed CPR at the scene and was airlifted to San Antonio. Upon arrival, he had emergency surgery to reconstruct his face and injury to his left eye. He has a broken cheekbone, 2 broken arms and a long cut on his liver due to the extent of his injuries he needs to go to University Hospital every week for follow-ups.

<div>My nephew's other son Noah who is 3 years old had a deep cut on his head which he had stitches. He is suffering from 4 broken ribs and a punctured lung. H also has a cut on his left ear, his left neck and his face are all scraped. He was also airlifted to San Antonio that evening of the accident.

<div>My nephew Rigoberto Reyes Jr. (Riggens) is currently in ICU with a ventilator. He had two surgeries, went through cardiac arrest, and was performed CPR. It is very hard for his family and friends at the time.

<div>His wife Rosa Y. Reyes was in the hospital for 6 days. She has a broken leg and her foot is all shattered and will be having surgery.

<div>In the wake of devastating floods in Delhi in July 2023 - the biggest in a decade - over half of Delhi has flooded, with roads, schools, homes and vital services damaged or destroyed, and many areas left without electricity. To make matters worse, in many places, including the Tibetan area of Majna Ka Tilla that’s next to the Yamuna River, the flood water has been contaminated by overflowing sewage, and reports of health issues are increasing day by day.

Help Pactyan Build A Well

<div>Hi everyone, I am setting up this page on behalf of my dad, Steven Fletcher. Recently in the Philippines they have had a deadly typhoon affecting over 3 million people and killing over 400 people. I’m just under a week after the typhoon hit water became a premium. Dad is wanting to get a generator system for water. This making it accessible for people to use and get water in the local area.

<div>People were rationed to 60 litres a day for a house of 5 people. This being for cleansing purpose only. Drinking water was rationed to 25 litres per day per house, to even get this you had to queue for 12 hours!!

<div>10 days after the typhoon hit drinking water is still rationed and queues are still up to 12 hours and that’s for just one day supply. Due to a couple supermarkets being completely demolished in the area. The remaining ones open are limiting numbers inside the building as it is unstable. To get inside this is taking up to 5 hours. Only few petrol stations are open and again the wait is around 5 hours. People on the city have now been told they could have no electricity for another 8 weeks.

Help Get A Water Filling Station

<div>My name is Natalia and this November I had the amazing opportunity to host and support two women leaders from the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest: Gloria Ushigua and Manuela Dahua. They came to COP26 in Glasgow with high hopes that the world would hear and take action against the extractivism and human rights violations they have been seeing for years in their territory.<br /><br />Read about their incredible work and challenges below.

<div>Now that they have returned to Ecuador, they must continue to work against the threats to their people and their own lives. Unfortunately, one of the biggest obstacles to do their work is the cost of travelling between the rainforest and the nearest city of Pastaza. Currently it costs $465 USD (around £349) per flight for 3 people, a huge cost considering most Indigenous people mainly do unpaid work in their remote communities.

<div>The COP26 in itself was quite disappointing with empty promises to protect the world's forests. Upon their return to Ecuador, they soon heard the <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/ecuador-planning-bids-oil-blocks-refinery-2022-minister-2021-11-19/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ecuadorian president Guillermo Lasso announce plans to sell oil wells in the Amazon</a>, despite opposition from Indigenous people. These include oil wells in the land of Gloria and Manuela's people.<br /><br />Since 2015 they have been <a href="https://news.pachamama.org/ecuadorian-indigenous-leaders-deliver-letter-calling-on-china-to-abandon-oil-drilling-in-their-territory-as-ecuador-faces-u-n-review" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">oppossing Chinese company Andes Petroleum</a>  which was due to start extracting oil from their territory. In 2019 they <a href="https://www.downtoearth.org.in/news/forests/major-victory-for-indigenous-groups-in-ecuadorian-amazon-67654" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">successfully stopped Andes Petroleum</a>  thanks to intense campaining by Gloria, Manuela and their community.<br /><br />I've created this fundraiser to help raise the vital funds that Gloria and Manuela need to continue protecting the Amazon. The goal is to raise funds to cover their travel costs, which they need to meet with lawyers, human right's organisations, attend national and international conferences, and speak to journalists about the situation in their territory.<br /><br />Gloria and Manuela have given their lives to protect the Amazon. They have promoted female leadership (Gloria is the first female leader in the Amazon), physically and legally fought to stop illegal oil extraction and logging, and along the way they have sacrificed their own time, resources, risked their lives and lost close family members.<br /><br />

<div>As a soldier and having deployed to Iraq (in 2003, 2007 &amp; 2012) and Afghanistan in 2014 for 9months, I have witnessed many men and women act courageously and bravery in adversities.

<div>For us as soldiers, we are trained to deal with certain situations but, that was not the case for Mr Sirizani Butau (a Zimbabwean Truck Driver) who endangered his life to rescue 8 people from a burning bus on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, it is reported that 4 people died from the accident despite Mr Butau’s efforts to rescue as many as he could whilst suffering serious burns to his body.

As result I am  currently fundraising to help Tigrain women who have been raped and children who are starving as a result of the famine in the Tigray region, as well as impacting on those who have been displaced to Sudan refugee camp. <br /><br />

Help Tigrain Raped women and Starving children

<div>Hello, my name is Alya Alaoui. I’m re-launching this GoFundMe page to raise funds for my sister Rym Alaoui, a junior doctor, who was the victim of a horrific acid attack on the 20th of May 2021.

<div>I first opened this page on the day after the attack and closed it 5 days afterwards. We were incredibly thankful, as a family, for the £2,000 that was raised. We were hopeful that this would be sufficient.

<div>However, 6 months on, we have a clearer view of Rym’s current and future medical requirements which is why I am opening a donation page again. Her injuries have turned out to be more serious than we expected at the time, and the full treatment unfortunately cannot be offered only by the NHS.

<div>Rym has suffered severe injuries to her face, neck, chest and arms. She’s still unable to see out of her right eye. So far, she’s had 7 operations including skin grafts to her neck and chest, and operations to her eye.

<div>Her doctors have said that she'll need many more over the coming months and years. The cost of this all is estimated to be over £60,000. This includes a reconstruction of her neck, specialised laser therapy for scarring and surgical needling. I appreciate this is a really large sum of money, and I would be eternally grateful for anything you could give to help.

<div>Rym’s modest savings, having been an NHS junior doctor for only 10 months after her graduation, have been depleted. Our parents have been the only financial support and continue to cover her medical needs and domestic expenses. Help Rym recover from acid attack injuries

I am doing a skydive to raise money for an amazing charity that is very close to home called Georgia’s Voice, Georgia’s voice is a registered charity in memory of the beautiful Georgia who took her life in July 2020.  This charity provides free support groups and activities for young women with mental health concerns. A charity shop will provide a long term income for this amazing charity and costs £5000 to set up, 1 years rent will cost £12,000.  There is a big team of us all trying to raise a minimum of £500. All proceeds will go towards Georgia’s Voice and setting up the charity shop, any extra money will go towards paying rent for support groups. <br /><br />In August 2020 i lost my little sister Martha - Lily which makes this charity very close to my heart, i’m doing this for my little sister as i know she would be so proud.
