On March 18th, my upstairs ceiling caved in at my townhouse, revealing a serious black mold problem. I immediately contacted my property manager, who told me the roof needed to stay open for a week to air out, but it was left open for 16 days. During this time, the management sent a mold company out twice to test for mold but refused to give me the results. After more than two weeks, I was offered a transfer to another unit. When I moved, my property manager locked me out of the old unit before I could finish getting my belongings and changed the lock on my mailbox, withholding my mail for three weeks. After moving to the new unit, both myself and my children became even sicker, and my daughter ended up needing surgery. I had a mold company test the new unit, and the results showed toxic black mold, making the place uninhabitable. My property manager refused to fix the problem, so I had no choice but to vacate the property for our safety. Since then, the property manager has started harassing me, having neighbors watch my family, and retaliating against us. I am raising funds to help cover legal fees so I can retain a lawyer and to maintain safe housing for myself and my children while we recover from this ordeal. Any support you can offer would mean the world to us as we try to rebuild our lives and ensure our safety. Thank you for reading and for caring about our family.
